worst thing ever 5/12/2011

My dad has taken our American Bulldog here for any checkups and necessary procedures. We also took two cats to get neutered and spayed. So when one of our cats fell ill, we went to a place we knew, and at least thought we could rely on. Our cat had a blockage exiting his bladder, another place said exactly what this place said would need to be done, drain the bladder by inserting a tube. The procedure was done, and then they called for us to pick up our cat saying he would be fine in 2-3 days and we were given pain killers for him. When we arrived home, our cat did not want to move at all as if he could not move. We thought it was still the anesthesia and it would ware off. We kept a close watch on him and the next day he could not breathe. He was gasping for air, which is when we rushed to the closest vet. Unfortunately he didn't make it there. He had vomited urine. When we reached the vet he asked what had happened, and we informed him of th eprocedure that had been done, he then said how it was not done properly. Anytime the procedure is done, the tube inserted has to stay in for two nights to keep the bladder from clogging up again, and a third day is needed to exam and check all is well. The vet at San Jose Spay & Neuter did not inform us of any of this information at all! Then when returned to tell him what happened and see what went wrong, he says our cat ""probably"" already had something wrong with his liver and wouldn't have made it. I'm sorry but wasn't it his job as a vet who we took our beloved Dusty to check up and catch what is wrong and help make him better, when we took him at that point he should have informed us that something more serious might have been wrong and rather than do the procedure and completing it incorrectly, and instead of having put Dusty through hell, he should have told us and we could have put Dusty down in a better way. Now my family is left with only Dusty's sister who is now looking for him, with four sister's crying and trying to deal with the first loss of a pet, and a house wife who has lost like a baby. Dusty was only two years old as of last month, and I wish I had never thought of going to this clinic, if I would have known they weren't going to do the job correctly and show any concern for my cat! more

Great vet who loves animals and does not rip you off 12/30/2008

I have taken pets to Dr Tai for 16 years now. He really cares about the animals and does not overcharge. Most vets charge really high prices for every little thing. He doesn't choose to rent space where it costs a lot and yes it is bare bones esthetics wise. But then he doesn;t have to charge us as much. Once two of my dogs got into a fight and I called Dr Tai and he and his wife missed a dinenr they were supposed to go to to take care of my Sheba who needed lots of stitches. \r \r I did cat rescue for quite awhile and Dr tai would give me helpful hints for keeping little things from turning into bigger things. Several of my cats got abcesses from fights and he showed me how to clean scratches on the cats right after the fight happened to hopefully pre-empt them getting abcesses. Yes, His wife is not the best receptionist but she isn;t the one doing the work on my pet and I deal with that to get a good vet who loves animals and where I don;t have to pay a high fee.\r \r People do need to know that there are always risks of complications from surgeries and EVERY vet out there has had at least a few animals have issues at one point or another after a surgery. These things unfortunately happen and it's sad. I do know that Dr Tai has helped over 45 animals through me- either animals I rescued, owned or that i was helping other people with. He has never hurt any of them and has always been so kind with them. He truly cares about animals. Every Veterinary practice has had things go wrong at one time or another. Some animals react differently to meds or surgery and it's a sad thing. I feel terribly to anyone who has ever lost a pet. Things I have had done at Dr tai's on pets- Hernia surgery on a kitten, 25 spay/neuters on both dogs and cats, several tumour removal surgeries on dogs, stitches on several dogs, and surgeries on abcesses on several cats. My friends take their pets there too. I am an animal lover to the core and trust my animal's lives with him Pros: Low fees, doc who LOVES animals, doc who cares, knowledgeable Cons: if you are looking for a fancy office this is not the place for you more

Old School Vet....... Not the cleanest but the BEST!!!!!! 10/28/2008

Old School Dr Tai is the best ,he loves animals. I dont care to have some one greet me and charge me $35 to say hello. I have been going here for 10 years. He is the most knowledgeable Vet I have ever taken my dog to. He is simple, yes the place is run like an old school Vet from the country. So for all the Starbuck's groupies this is not the place for you to go!!! (yes I like Star Bucks) but if you want someone who knows his stuff and charges a fair price then you would be in good hands. Pros: knowledge price care of pet. more

yuck! yuck! yuck!!!!! 8/5/2008

this place is disgusting, filthy, and the receptionist is A RUDE RUDE WOMAN!!! i took my baby there because my breeder used this vet---bad idea. . . . when i got there the receptionist was yelling at a customer and throwing things not to mention slamming dooors. this went on for a good 5 minutes or more---i had to leave---it was completely ridiculous----what a disgusting place---i cant believe it is even a business- more

Good Prices knows how to handle your pet. 1/14/2008

His prices are very cheap, yes, there might be no there is some problem with communication with his receptionist. They do lose your pets medical information card. However, this is the third vet I had to go to due to the fact that my very finicky cat did not like how the previous vets handled her. She lets this vet handle her and hold her. Not once has she hissed or growled at him. You do however need to explain everything in detail in order for your pet to get the best treatment. I had to go twice for a skin infection (had to get a different medication) on my cat and he gave me extra medicine for our other cat that was starting to show signs of getting the same infection. Others wanted to diagnose this skin infection as a type of ring worm and give me 3X more expensive medication but I took my cat for a second diagnosis and yup it was something much less than ringworm. Pros: Prices are very cheap and he knows how to handle your pet. Cons: Communication barrier, hard to understand what he is saying but you can understand him after the 3rd time. more

Worst vet ever!! 7/10/2007

I went to this Vet because the breeder I bought my dog uses them and said they were good. So I went there. My first impression of this establishment gave me a bad feeling. The place was old and messy.\r Secondly, poor customer service. I rang the bell at the front desk and called out anybody here! Someone finally showed up after 10 minutes. This person had poor communication skills (broken english). So I was not impress. After checking my dog out the vet found an ear infection by accident when my dog cried out with pain. I was getting irrated at this point. After I left this establihment. I decided to have my dog checked out my another vet. The other vet found something shocking. My dog was diagonosed as having level\r 5 heart murmur (considered severe). This condition can't be out grown. The second vet said this should of been easily diagnosed. The first vet check my dog out during the breeders check up and then during my visit. How can this be missed? This example just shows you that this vet has poor training and should not be able to service anyones pet. Maybe that's why he's reseasonable on his prices. You pay for what you are getting! So now the cost to keep my dog alive could run a pretty penny (ultra scan, operations, medical expenses, etc). So beware of this vet if you decide to take your pet there.\r Pros: cheap prices Cons: poor service, poor communication skills, not knowledgeable more

I love this guy. He has been very good with 2 of my cats and 3 of my dogs. He is very caring and knowledgable. I just got a new Golden puppy. We see him tomorrow.\r \r Mark Pros: Very smart and caring Cons: you must wait. First come First served. more

DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR----HE CAUSED THE DEATH OF MY HEALTHY SHI TZU 6/26/2007

This man butchered my 4 year old Shi tzu. Our loving pet was nuetered on June 13th. When I picked him up at the suggested time, Gizmo's private area and sides was purple, He was doped up and bleeding. Dr. Tai's wife told me that it would stop. Dr. Tai was in the adjacent room with the door open and never even said a thing to me. A few days past and I thought things were ok. The bruising subsided. A week to the day June 20th, Gizzy's private got hard. Dr. Tai was out of town on a family emergency. I was concerned. I called and took gizmo to Acacia Clinic on Branham and Pearl. This doctor just replaced his swollen private back into his sheath. Told me to apply cold compresses and it would go down in a couple days. Saturday June 23rd came and Gizmo stopped eating. He looked sad. I took Gizmo to a Dr. Reed that day. Gizzy was hospitalized with something Dr. Reed never had seen in 35 years of being a vet. He tried for 3 days to reduce his hard on but Gizzy's private was Dying. Necrotic was the word that Dr. Reed used. He was put on antibiotics and pain killers. Dr. Reed did a search with a Network of Vets on Monday June 25th. He found what it was and it devastated myself and my 6 year old daughter. 5 cases were found by Dr. Reed within his Network. There was no hope for Our Gizmo. In all 5 cases, nuetering was all the common thread. A bad nuetering that is. Either the artery that supplys circulation to the private was cutt or tied off by the stitches in the nuetering process. Dr. Reed stated that nuetering is a basic procedure. We had to put Gizzy down yesterday June 25th. He was basically decaying in his private area due to no circulation. Our family is devastated. In less than 2 weeks my healthy , happy, loveable little shi tzu was turned into a sick, painful little boy. I believe that Dr. Tai knows he screwed up according to our phone converstation, he just isnt man enough to admit it. If you love your pet, dont let this man touch them. more

POOR customer service! 3/24/2007

In the process of adopting/rescuing a pet I needed to secure a pre-paid verification for micro-chipping and spaying, agencies rules. I spoke to the Doctor and initially he stated we don't do that, it took awhile to communicate my story as everyone here speaks and hears very broken english. Soon after he said ""Okay, Yeah, You come in, I see you tomorrow"". So the next day I go in and the lady at the front desk tells me ""No, we don't do that"" No I'm sorry we communicated that improperly, I'm sorry you drove all the way out here and wasted an hour of your day b/c we messed up... NOTHING! Poor poor communication skills, and VERY POOR customer service.... Cons: Office looked dirty, poor english communication skills, poor customer service more
