Up until March, I struggled with how to incorporate exercise in to my very busy schedule. While I went to the gym here and there, I wasn't experiencing the change in my body or mind that I greatly needed. I knew of Austin Adventure Boot Camp and I knew Stephanie (camp owner) from her personal training days. While she'd say ""join us, you'll love it"" I still shied away thinking it [exercise] was something I could do on my own. WELL, I went to my first bootcamp in mid-March with a group of about 15 others (evening class). We were all at different levels, and I was by far the slowest and most out of shape (I had not realized how out of shape I was). But, Stephanie and the group were encouraging and I blended right in. It took me a few weeks to feel like I would not die -- but for some reason, I kept going. The variety of exercise (cardio and strength training) quickly started paying off. Soon, I switched to the 5:30am schedule (for work purposes) and am happy to say that morning bootcamp is what gets me going. It wasn't long before I was addicted!! I can feel it work! I can feel my energy level go up. I've learned how to fuel my body as opposed to eating just to eat. Mostly, I've learned that I can persevere and get stronger and be healthy. For someone not healthy most of her life, this is an amazing feeling to me. I'm 38 -- and my goal is to be in the best shape ever at 40. With what I'm learning and accomplishing in Bootcamp and with Stephanie's help, I know I'll be very proud when that time comes (although I'm already in the best shape I've ever been -- kind of scary actually). So, for those of you who think ""it's not for me"" -- it can be! The group of women are great (some like us that go time after time and new women as well all of the time), Stephanie is great and you will feel great. This is coming from a non-exerciser who had smoked for 20 years -- now, I can run a mile in 8:47. In March, I ran 10:38. My goal is under 8:00! I'll get there!!
