Atlantic Beach Movers

We've used Atlantic Beach Movers four times, now and because of those experiences, and being treated so well, I will continue to use them for everything! Initially, I used them to move us from one house to another house. Bill came out to look over our things and gave us a reasonable flat rate. The price was much better than other estimates I'd gotten so I decided to use them. The guys were very friendly and ready to work. Unfortunately, I hadn't correctly measured the doorways upstairs at the new house. After they had moved all of the furniture up there, we discovered that they couldn't get it through the doors so they had to move everything back downstairs again! They didn't complain at all. It was completely my fault, I had measured incorrectly and hadn't thought it through, but they were so patient with me, I never felt uncomfortable. We've used them on several occasions since, and they are always good-natured and pleasant to be around. One time we were using them, and it was taking a lot longer than we had thought it would, and it was 8pm on a Friday, and these are young guys, who probably have plans after work, but they were so great and helped us to reshuffle our furniture. And we had a company put in a chair lift for my in-laws, only it was too high and therefore too dangerous for them to use. Well, the guys helped us fix it! I couldn't believe it, I'm always going to use them! They are always very courteous, friendly and responsible. I would highly, highly recommend them to anybody! more

I had to be out of my home the following day and didn't know what i was going to do. I called Atlantic Beach Movers and the office was very pleasant and made me feel much better about the situation I was in. They quoted me a price and told me they could have a crew out at 8:30 the next morning. The crew arrived on time and were very professional and courteous. They treated my furniture as if it were there own I would recomend Atlantic Beach Movers to anyone that is going to be moving. more

This mover did a satisfactory job when my furniture was picked up in Virginia Beach, but they arrived late for delivery in Georgia. Instead of being allowed to take the time to carefully unload the truck, the management put the crew under unreasonable pressure to rush the unloading. In the process, several pieces of furniture were damaged, including the top of a chest being partially lifted off. The damage was careless scrapes from rushing. One of the beds and a mirror were not properly assembled. The wheels were not placed on any of the furniture, a bookcase shelf was misplaced and a lampshade was crushed. I purchased a $100 insurance policy. When I tried to collect, I was told that my pictures had not been received. I sent set of pictures by email. The assistant said they were received a week later, and the insurance claim had just been filed. I tried several times to obtain a written confirmation of receipt of the pictures and the insurance claim being filed. I have to date received no response. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY, ESPECIALLY FOR LONG DISTANCE! THEY DO NOT HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO HANDLE IT AND WILL NOT ADMIT IT. I have had 3 professional moves prior to this one and this by far is the worse company I have ever used. They did not finish the job and worse of all they stole an IPod touch from my house. But I can go one better, when I tried to talk to someone to resolve the issue they don't even want to acknowledge that they didn't do a fair job. I first talk to someone who act like he didn't know anything and he was "just a mover that they put in the office" but then later find out they he is the one that is trying to resolve the issue for me. This company is by far the worse and I would suggest to other be careful and think twice before you hire them. Watch over them carefully as they move your belongings and keep them on track with the time and cost. If you can find another company go with them, it is not worth the headache. M. But you did tell us that we had everything that was going as we did the final walk through. At the same time as the walk through you asked me about your Ipod and I personally showed you the Ipod that was on your dresser that I put in the box next to the crib, you said "good". You also checked our truck and your belongings before we left so you could sign the paper work showing the job was done and that you paid. Once again I am sorry that you are not happy but you said we did all that you wanted us to do! more

The first thing said to me by one of the movers sent to us by Atlantic Beach movers was mentioning how he shouldn't have gone to the bar last night, and was hungover. I laughed at this because I thought it was somewhat amusing, but didn't realize this meant he was entitled to a 10 minute smoke break every half hour. To put it bluntly, these were the slowest, least professional movers I have worked with. The movers were pleasant to be around, but when they brought my matress out and didn't come back for 20 minutes I had to question what was taking so long. It took them about 4 hours to move me out of a two bedroom apartment, not to mention the time it took to move into the new apartment. If I hadn't helped them move all of my possessions into the new place this move could have taken well over 6 - 7 hours. I almost feel they were milking time to make more money as we were paying $90/hr for the help. I'm sure the company loves the increased time. The fact that our couch smelled like smoke because they were smoking in the back of the truck was the final straw for me. All in all they aren't the worst movers I've ever hired. I've hired movers off of craigslist which were just awful, but still managed to get me in and out of an apartment in under 3 hours without my help. So maybe I'm wrong, maybe Atlantic Beach Movers are the worst movers I've ever hired. RESPONSE FROM Atlantic Beach Movers Inc.: Sorry to hear that your move didn't go as you liked it!! Atlantic Beach Movers did a small move for me. We were moving my parents into an assisted living facility and needed help moving some of their larger pieces of furniture and boxes with them. For what Atlantic did, I think they charged a very reasonable price, it might have even been a little cheaper than I thought it'd be. They arrived on time and were polite and good-mannered. What struck me most, was that they really seemed to care about moving my parents things with great concern. The move was done in a professional and timely fashion. more

I recently used Atlantic Beach Movers for a move to TN and when I first met Billy (the owner) I thought I was choosing the right company for the job. Sadly, I could not have been more wrong. Following is the story of all that went wrong (though some things did go right). The movers showed up on time and were very courteous and professional about packing. But when the truck was nearly full they realized that all the contents (plus what we had in a local storage facility) were not going to fit. It was at that point they were trying to force a chair into a particular spot in the truck and started being less careful about how they were handling the furniture. I told them to stopâ?¦it was obvious everything was not going to fit. The person in charge of the movers agreed and called the owner and I clearly heard him say "Billy, it's not all going to fit. Bottom line at this point is the owner had under-estimated what was going to be moved, even though he did the move estimate himself, and we actually ended up moving less furniture than his estimate because we sold several large pieces before the move. Then we went to the storage facility and after looking at the contents in the facility, the driver again called the owner and said it simply would not fit. At that point I spoke with the owner, who told me there would be an extra charge of $250 to come out the next day with an empty truck for the contents of the 8x10 storage unit. I was obviously hostage to this at the time, so had no other choiceâ?¦they had all our furniture on the truck. The movers arrived in TN at the appointed time and other than a few minor scrapes on walls (which we honestly expected) unloaded the furniture without a problem. However, the following problems were noted: - One upholstered chair arrived with a hole torn in the back, and I inspected this chair as it left our house and it the hole was not there. (the owner later said he would send me $100 to fix itâ?¦but never did). - Our king sized Celebrity Tempur-pedic mattress (which cost $3500) had obviously been standing on it's side, and at an angle, for the entire time our furniture was in storage with the mover (about a month). It now has a permanently defected pillow top where it was sitting on the floor all that time. - Several pieces of furniture have minor scotches and rub marks that were not there when they were picked up at the time of the move. Again, we inspected everything before it left the house. - My shop vacuum was missing and when I called the mover he said he didn't have it, but later admitted he did and said he would ship it. I had to call him twice to make this happen and all he did was put it into a flimsy cardboard box with no packing and ship it. Obviously, there was damage to it enroute from it rattling around without packing. End of story. You can take from this review what you want, and I'm sure the moving company will have their excuses for the problems, but this is a true account of what happened. What upsets me even more than the moving issues is that the owner lied to me, and his truck driver in charge of the move also lied to Billy, saying that the hole was already in the chair. I can tolerate mistakes and things are going to get messed up a little in any moveâ?¦but the lies I can do without. That shows me the true character of the owner and at least one employee of this company and I would never recommend them. more

Danny, Travis, and Ivan are GREAT!!!! They really went above and beyond to move me from my storage to my townhome. The storage door was stuck due to furniture leaning on it, and instead of waiting for the storage management to figure out how to get it opened, these guys worked together to get the door open enough, Danny squeezed himself in, and got the door open. They did not have to do that and they saved me money!!! I will only use Atlantic Beach Movers and would recommend them to everyone!! more

I want to give Atlantic Beach Movers, Danny, Ivan and Everett a recommendation of excellence in a job well done for me. I e-mailed the company 4 days prior to my move in a jam with no-one to move me. They called me the next day with a quote and sent these 3 guys to my aid. They were very professional, knew what they were doing and had 3 rooms of HEAVY and fragile (grandfathers clock) furniture moved for me in 5 hours. They had a small hallway to move things up to the second floor and did it with absolutely no damage to the furniture OR the newly renovated apartment I moved into. I have had 2 other moving companies move me in the past with much disappointment regarding their professionalism and lack of caring, (broken and banged up furniture) and lack of knowledge of how to move and carry furniture. I had to move just before X-mas and I really didn't have much time to do much with all of my X-mas parties I had to do ( I am A Dj). Well I called around and I had a company in mind. My mother-in-law told to check Atlantic Beach Movers out, so I did! I talked to a guy and he told me about the company and gave me a price. He also told me that they are part of the Loacl BBB and gave the # to call so I can check them out and other company. Well I am glad I did because the company I was going to go with had been kicked out of the BBB. Atlantic Beach movers has a great rating. Well I did move with Atlantic Beach Movers and they did a great job. No damages, nice people to work with, and a good price to boot. Tell your mom and dad when you need to move, maybe they will help you! more

I had two different 2-man teams on December 20 and 22 in Portsmouth. Both teams performed beyond my expectations, were respectful, friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and careful. It was easy to communicate with the office - I was able to arrange the second team for the 22nd on Sunday, the 20th. Thank you for the excellent service! I have used this company before. I have met the owner at a Commerce meeting about 2years ago. I have used his services personally and proffesionly. So when i used them again I talked to the owner and he told me about this other comment on his web and that he does not know who it is. I read it and can not believe his guys could even do anything like that even if they wanted to. Now I know by not writing this until I moved again. Once again they did a good job, no damages on the walls or furniture. They did such a good job I tipped the guys $100. Like always I will pass the name on to everyone. I have to say these guys are great. Just talking to the man on the phone made me feel good about using this company! We moved my mother to another home. The guys that came out were so pieceful and nice to work with. They came in and did not play around. They just got the job done. They had to be so quick, they were done in 2 1/2 hours. So the price was really good as well.All the companies I used before wanted 4 hours and travel time. These guys just charge for the 2 1/2 hours they worked. Needless to say no damages ether. I will us them again and tell everyone the same! more

I decided to use Atlantic Beach Movers after reading their reviews on the Internet and talking to the owner, Bill. He was very nice, made me feel comfortable with the company (they are licensed and insured), and gave me a good price. We had a 2-bedroom condo and a storage unit that we needed to move out of. The movers were careful, quick, and they did a good job. I would definitely recommend Atlantic Beach Movers. They are trustworthy and dependable. more
