The salon is gorgeous and located in a trendy part of downtown that if you park in the Publix garage across the street, doesn't cost you a dime. Although a pricier salon, they really give you referral coupons and try to minimize your costs. Matthew Bengston is a fantastic stylist and colorist. From day 1 of consulting, he asked which celebrity cuts/colors I'd seen that I loved. I've been to a ton of high end salons where they don't bother asking about your dream cut! He is honest about what color you should/shouldn't do and he's right everytime about your skin color vs. the hair color. Also did keratin on my hair correctly - I had it done at two other salons and the straightness did not hold like his work! Great salon with a talented, young staff! more

I finally found someone worth bragging about when it comes to my hair!!! I wanna let the world know? I?ve gone to other places that have butchered my hair and just cut as they felt they wanted to cut, I'm super excite to say that FINALLY I?ve found someone that can take care of my hair needs. Thank God for Janice, she took extra care of me at Alta Moda. Janice is very knowledgeable about what she thought would look good and how she should do it. She told me everything she was doing in detail by detail, which I can appreciate because some stylist just dont listen. She?s a great stylist and knows what she?s doing. I got my hair colored, blown out, cut and styled. She asked me questions about what my style was and did her thing. The atmosphere at Alta Moda is crazy cool, trendy and friendly. The staff is extra helpful, fabulous and AMAZING. I give them FIVE STARS. I love my hair, feels healthy and perfect!... Janice is Fancy and I love her!!! more

When I moved from Washinton DC two years ago, I was desperate to find someone who could handle my thick dark frizzy hair - it needed styling. A friend told me to try the owner - she is very creative, down to earth, charming, and clearly knows how to handle all kinds of hair. She styled it according to my facial structure, recommended partial highlights, and gave me a couple of Kerastace products and instructions on how to use them. She spent a long time with me that first time - getting to know me and my troubled hair. Eileen is the first hairdresser who actually know how to blowdry it according to the way my hair grows. At the end I walked out with a new shinny straight hair style that all my friends and family loved. I faithly go every month - we have become friends and She always greets me with a hug! They work hard at Alta Moda to please you - but there's always time for a laugh or two. I only wish their wash bowls were more comfortable for us older gals - the younger clients seem to fit better. more

I just moved to Orlando from the metropolitan NY/NJ area. I was really nervous finding a good salon with great customer service and someone who actually understands my hair type. Which happens to be really curly and thick. I went for a consultation to see if she understands my hair and I felt that I can trust her with my hair. I paid so much money for the WORST blowdry, Hair color ( which looked orange) and I felt like she didn't even cut my hair properly. I was rushed since I was her last appointment. Didn't like the quality of service and i have to say No Matter what type of hair you have, you have to know and learn how to work with it to make it look great. This salon is definitely over priced for not being great experience! more

I decided to go to Alta Moda only because my regular stylist transfered there. When I walked in I was greeted and offered a drink. The owner walked over to me and said hi which I thought was nice. The products they used and sale are actually very good. The only problem I had was the fact that I had to go outside every 2 hours to pay for parking. I did not feel comfortable parking in the garage because it was getting dark. The other problem is that they do not let you know which service is at an extra cost. Everytime I go to get the same service the cost is different. I do not mind paying for great service but would like to know if my bill is over $100.00 This is a great salon if you can afford to go. You do get what you pay for and I would recommend it to others. Pros: Very professional and very good stylist Cons: Parking, not letting clients know how much services cost more

I can say a lot of good things about alta moda - GREAT BLOWOUTS being the #1 best thing!!!!!!! i have thick curly hair and was blown away by the way my hair looked every time I left HOWEVER I was not impressed with the quality of my haircuts and color overall. too many mistakes. just not worth the prices. i have since moved to different salon. Pros: location, blowouts, hip atmosphere, friendly, great products (kerastase) Cons: quality of cut and color - average at best. too expersive for quality more

One of my best hair experiences ever. They reminded me of the salons in Paris carrying my favorite products in the world Kerastase, plus giving me a great haircut & color. The staff was very nice especially the front desk girl who helped me with directions to the salon when I was lost. I saw some talented people who took there job serious. First of all, these people in this salon think that they are Hollywood heavy weights, when really they are Orlando trash. Obviously they need a stylist for each and every one of them. I wasn't greeted when I walked in. I had to wait 20 minutes for my girl, who apparently was eating lunch in the break room and didn't even pay attention to the fact that she had a client waiting. I paid money to get my hair CHOPPED up by someone who obviously didn't have the passion or talent to be doing hair. I hear that they opened up a new salon down the street.... I wouldn't recommend Alta Moda and I certaintly would never recommend their new place. Someone should show the owner's how to run a business responsibly and effectively. more

I thought the place was small but cute. I didnt like the fact that people were so stuffy there and the price of what i got was not worth it at all. I have been to the best salons in new york and orlando, but this place the customer service was not UPSCALE at all. Made you feel not welcome there. I do not reccomend this place to anyone and I will not ever go there again !!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: cute place Cons: bad attitudes ! no positive service.. more

I don't know what some of those other people were talking about but this place is real nice. I am not used to spending 30 bucks on a guy's haircut but once I went back a few times I realized that my first haircut/style was not the final one. After going to barber shops for so long I didn't realize that there is a sort of ""science"" to the hair. Now that I've been there a few times I really see a huge difference. And if you're comparing anything to Hair Cuttery or Super Cuts, you should stick with them because you'll never be happy elsewhere. Not to be a snop but you do get what you pay for. The people that are complaining about the $$ are probably spending $200 on jeans! I would recommend this place to anyone. As far as the dog, she is only there like once a month and she is harmless. You are always greeted and offered a drink and if you're not, tell your stylist, don't complain about it here!! Oh, one more thing of importance...you can get wasted for free there!!! Pros: knowledgeable staff, good music, free drinks Cons: parking (find a spot on the street) more

My experience at Altamoda was the best I have had in a salon since I moved to Orlando 10 years ago. The whole staff were extremely cool. I was greeted as soon as I entered the door and offered something to drink. Then as soon as I sat in the stylists chair I felt right at ease. We discussed my lifestyle and what hair best suits me. The cut and color was just fabulous. I highly recommend this salon. It was a little more money than I am use to paying but the services and professionalism were worth every penny. Men don't go! Waste of money 4/22/2006

This salon is all hype and location.The only person that greeted was sophia. A Dog! yes a dog. I went in there with medium lenght hair to see if i can get it trimmed and styled. I also explained that i don't like my hair short. Well things looked well for a whie and then next thing i know my hair looked different from the right than the left. Looks like she cut it too short and just tried to fix it. My hair looks horrible and everybody who knows me comments on how bad it is. 29 dollars for a crappy hair cut that hair cuttery and super cuts can do way much better and actually listen to what you are saying. Maybe this is a good place and i got in at the wrong time but first impressions always are memorable. more

When upon arriving, I was promptly greeted, and asked if i wanted a beverage. This, I thought, was great. Already, the customer service was top notch. When I was escorted over to the stylist station, I right away felt very comfortable with the skill level and knowledge of the stylist. She was very up to date with current styles and knew exactly what would and wouldn't work for me. I agreed on a cut and color that she recommended. During the very relaxing shampoo, I couldn't help but notice the music was really good. They played a bunch of 80's music, and that always puts me in a good mood. Even though I wasn't scheduled for a deep conditioner, my stylist made time for it. My hair has never felt or looked better. The price was high but worth it! I already have my next appointment booked! Pros: good environment, funky staff, great music more

I used to work in a high-end salon in Arizona and I know from personal experience what anyone should expect in service when you are paying a lot of money. In February, I went to Alta Moda mainly becase it offered Kerastase. When I arrived, I wasn't greeted, not offered something to drink, and my stylist was 20 minutes late! When I was offered a drink, I had by then felt so awkward that I didn't think I could stomach it. The stylist I had was accommodating in giving me full highlights rather than my scheduled color and partial highlights, but had no qualms about letting me know she was on a timeframe. At the end, I ended up paying $150 +tip and not even getting my hair blown dry. At home, I noticed there were bleed marks all over my scalp from the color. I won't be going back. Pros: parking, Kerastase products, stimulating decor Cons: expensive, poor service, unfriendly staff more

I was new in the city and looked online to find this salon so I booked an appointment. I went in with high expecations because the salon was voted very highly & had received awards and worked on celebrities. I went in got a trim, color and deep conditioning and ended up spending $300. The staff was friendly, although I was not greeted when I entered the salon. I knew it wouldn't be cheap but there was nothing amazing or outstanding that would make me go back.
