I am a proud homeowner here in Ft Myers, and I have never experienced a level of unnecessary denigration or heard of such ridiculous bullying of tenants that apparently goes on by Lynda Loethen, the property manager of THE ASHLAR.\r
\r
Within 10 min of arriving at the Ashlar (I went to help a friend clean her carpets) I found myself at the receiving end of a yelling match from the property manager, Lynda. Without so much as an introduction, Lynda, came rushing up the sidewalk pointing fingers and hyper-excitable for the fact my vehicle was 50 yards from the parking lot where I unloaded cleaning equipment. Then she accused me of breaking into the apartment I was about to clean while simultaneously trying to have my truck towed. \r
\r
I explained I was there to help a friend, apologized for any misunderstanding, and said I would move my truck if she simply asked or told me of a problem. But she insisted I pay the tow truck and get out. Through eyes that looked like she wanted to eat my innards, Mrs Loethen made comments to suggest she was going to prevent the move-in of the lady I was trying to help. She stormed off. I paid $150 right there in cash and I felt like I was just swindled by Mrs Loethen. (I didn't even get to clean carpets)\r
\r
As for The Ashlar, the facility looks nice enough, but ask around about Lynda, before you move in. She seems like a small minded person on a HUGE power trip and is notorious for terrorizing occupants at The Ashlar. I feel bad for the staff that don't have the courage to stand up to her and must work for her and the tenants that put up with her apparent need for control and belittling,\r
\r
The trustees or owners of the Ashlar would be wise to remove a person who lacks basic social and interpersonal skills like Lynda, their long time (and probably burned out) property manager. Until then, I will be the last person to recommend The Ashlar on Daniels as a place to live.\r
\r
Just an average guy who tried to help a friend.\r
Pros: Looks nice on the oustide.
Cons: Staff will control your every outdoor activity and are always watching to tow you. Hmm... Kickback?
