Hard to reccomend this place when a sandwich and cup of soup set you back nearly 20 bucks! There are better deli options in the valley. Others have raved about the pastrami but ...

Gut Distention. Wallet Thinned. 5/5/2007

Decent food, but reminds of playing 3 card monte: I'll play but I know I'll lose 'cause I'm stupid...20 bux for a triple decker sandwich made me wince just reading it. I did like all of the pictures of sandwiches on the walls. Maybe if they go out of business I can by one for nostalgic purposes..."remember when I had that sandwich with three slices of bread?!?!? Oh man, those were the days." Pros: Many booths, servers with experience. Pictures of meat on the walls Cons: Inflated prices and no parking - and Jinro cocktails. more

As far as delis in LA go, this one takes the cake. Or the pastrami. There is no other family-owned deli like this in town - well, certainly not in the Valley. One of the Ginsburg family members is always always on the premises. Places like this just don't exist anymore. It's on the pricy side - the one downfall. more

Great deli stop at any time 7/31/2006

If you're in the Studio City area, definitely stop in at Art's if you've got a craving for great deli food. If you're looking for a great pastrami sandwich, a bowl of split pea soup, or even just a nice piece of pie and ice cream, Art's is a good choice. Other delis in the area off some of the same menu items, but have very different atmospheres. Art's is comfortable, low key (can sometimes get busy), and the staff is always friendly and ready to serve you with a smile. Pros: Friendly staff and great food Cons: Limited parking. more

A little pricey but it's real deli food 6/6/2006

Growing up in NY, it's easy to tell the California delis from the real thing. This is the real thing. Classic deli items (like lox and bagels, roast beef on rye, chicken in a pot) are excellent, the fancier LA twists on deli (like the salads and the non-traditional deli stuff) are less good. Art is often around himself as his daughter and the waitstaff all feels like they are there to mother you...which can be a good thing. Pros: Great old-fashioned deli more

Pastrami sandwich is to die for! 3/21/2006

Oh wow. I love Art's Deli! My boyfriend and his family have been going for over a decade and I discovered it about 5 years ago. They have the most delicious, hugest sandwiches you can ask for. The pastrami with swiss cheese on rye bread is my favorite of all time. Their turkey blt is too die for too. Their bacon is sooo good and it doesn't even have any fat on it. My boyfriend loves the monty cristo. Their chicken noodle and matzo ball soup are great. We never leave without buying 2 huge chocolate chip cookies. The only let down is the price but It it never stands in my way. Gotta run, going to Art's!!! Pros: Sandwiches, Service, Cleanliness Cons: Price, Parking more

Best NY Deli West of the Atlantic Ocean 11/9/2005

Art's deli, without a doubt, has the best pastrami and rye bread this side of the Atlantic. It beats the most popular deli's in NYC itself, the home of Kosher Deli's. The service is great. The selection of foods, sides, and bakery is fantastic. Their chopped liver is as good as mom made, and mom took great care and pride years back in making hers. The black and white cookies, just like back East, are delicious. With the new parking structures across the street, the parking situation may be eased up. They do offer valet parking to alleviate the parking issue. Art's family has kept up Art's high standards without question. Pros: Chopped Liver, pastrami sandwich, lox more

Great fries! 11/9/2005

Many deals are made at Art's Deli. Its a well patronized, well known Jewish Deli. Their service is good, tho you might have to wait for a table and is loud. The food is good and the portions generous. But like most Jewish Delis, it can get expensive quickly. The french fries are well worth it. more

To type up a good review of this place. This place is horrible. Overpriced, understaffed, stuffy, slow, and to top it all off the food sucks and the portions are scant. Ask people who are walking out of this establishment, or people you know IN REAL LIFE that have been here if you want an ACCURATE review. I mean this place really should just be shut down. Pros: none Cons: just about everything more

Hands down the King of the Deli's in L.A. Been eating there for over 33 years. This is where I take my out of town guests to dine when they talk about the great deli's in there town. At Art's not only is every sandwich a work of Art. But, every customer is a member of the family. Great food, great service with a lot of love on the side. Parking is no longer a problem with the new 400+ car parking structure directly across the street from them. Pros: Great Service, Value for $, Smoked Fish Cons: None more

Quality's gone down and the Prices Way up 4/30/2005

I used to tell people that Art's was the last reasonably-priced Jewish deli around. Well - no more. I went there recently and the prices have gone up a lot. The food was disappointing as well ... not like it used to be. Pros: Good neighborhood Cons: Overpriced, Hard to find parking more
