The tone and attitude in the company president's posting might tell you a lot about the way this company handles customer complaints. Also, what's with the company president ranking her own company?\r \r more

It is with great regret that Joy Carpenter, who is NOT the owner of this dog has decided to make this public when neither she nor the owner, who is her sister, did what was asked of them in the beginning. Had they simply brought the pet in for a Free re-check, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. \r There are two sides to every story, and we all know that. Let me start by saying that neither she nor her sister, who owns Chloe, are veterinarians or veterinarian technicians to the best of our knowledge and therefore, can't make a diagnosis. The pet was spayed on March 25, 2009. The owner called and complained that the dog had ""a rash"" on March 30, 2009, a full 5 days after surgery. Without seeing the pet, it is almost impossible to make a diagnosis. The vet tech asked her repeatedly to return with the dog for a FREE recheck. The owner, Sonja Louis, refused. The following day, March 31, 2009, Joy Carpenter, the sister of Sonja Louis sent a faxed letter to us complaining. Both the sister and the owner refused to bring the dog in for the FREE recheck. The public should make up their own minds as to what is the truth here. I tried to post the entire conversation but it was too many characters for the space.\r We repeatedly asked both the owner and her sister to bring the dog in so we could do a re-check, believing that it was either allergies or since the owner described it as ""round and dry skin"", we wanted to get to the bottom of the problem and fix it. They repeatedly refused to return.\r \r Since I cannot post the entire conversation, I must tell everyone that the bottom line is, if we had made a mistake and there was razor burn, we would have admitted it and taken care of it. Was it razor burn? Was it Ring worm? Was it allergies? We will NEVER know because both the owner and the sister refused to come back in for the re-check. Arizona Pet Resort cannot fix a problem if they are not given the opportunity and by refusing to return for the standard free re-check; we were not given the opportunity to address the problem.\r \r Melanie Hocevar\r President\r Arizona Pet Resort\r 1211 E. I care too much about animals to return to this place! 6/16/2009

It has taken me months to calm down enough to write this review. I took my puppy for shots at the AZ Pet Resort and everyone was so nice. I decided to have her spayed there along with my sisters puppy. Big Mistake! After bringing them home we discovered both had been razor burned - not a word from the staff that put them in the carriers prior to us getting to see them. When the sore on my sisters puppy had not gotten better she called for some advice on what to use on it. Of course they wanted her to bring the dog back - later they said for a free follow up... My sister did not want to bring her back so soon after the experience and just asked for some suggestions. After getting some semi-argumentative attitude and being told her dog probably had ringworm the staff told her they would check with the dr and call her back. Five hours later, the same semi-argumentative attitude from the staff but they told her what to try. My sister was pretty upset with the exchange and I was mortified as I had referred her and thought these were caring people. I wrote a letter to the president of the pet resort and told her about the experience as I was disturbed by the customer service aspect. Isn't a business like this supposed to be compassionate when it comes to how people feel about their pets? What I received back was a letter basically slapping my hand. I was told she thought the letter was just like playing telephone when we were kids. She also didn't know why we didn't want to bring the dog back so soon as ""the pet was sedated and obviously doesn't remember surgery. What would the pet be 'traumatized' by?"" Is this someone that has ever owned a pet before? I can tell you that my dogs know when we arrive at the vets. Also - I was called a liar on the time it took for them to call back, we pulled the phone records and guess who was not being truthful. Of course the whole letter ended with how it was our fault because we did not bring the dog back. What happened to the responsibility of them informing us that they had been razor burned when they were picked up? I wrote a letter to the pet insurance company that we had been referred by and explained the experience. When they followed up on it they were told by the president that both dogs had a reaction to the iodine. It is amazing to me that they didn't remember that when we called just days after the surgery! This clinic had unqualified staff prepping the puppies for surgery and it is quite apparent that they do not keep proper documentation of issues that arise. The most offensive part of the whole experience was the condescending and uncaring attitude that Management has for its animal and people clients. I will be filing a complaint with the Vet Board and writing letters to all associations that they are affiliated with. Disgusting business practices! Pros: Rena the groomer is great with animals Cons: Mangement-animal care behind closed doors more

BEWARE!! 4/24/2009

My dog was spayed here and we were never notified of the problems the vet experienced during the surgery. No phone call to us letting us know our dog lost a lot of red fluid. They told us she was fine. They didn't pay attention to the signs our dog was displaying. i requested copies of her medical file, by law I'm entitled to her file yet they refuse to give them to me. They sent our dog home with internal bleeding just to die! If we didnt pay attention to the signs she was showing, she would be dead right now!! We had to rush her to the emergency vet where she stayed there for 3 days in ICU and $4,000.00 dollars later her life was saved. Please beware if you are taking your dog here for spaying!!!! Pros: Front desk staff very very nice Cons: not notified of surgical problems more

grooming 4/6/2009

After my chihuahua was groomed, I didn't think it was short enough, so she did it again, no problem. When he came out he was so handsome. The staff is great and after 1 and half yrs. I still would never go anywhere else. Place is clean also. more

Rena Rocks! 8/2/2008

My girlfriend and i have two rascally little long-haired chihuahuas named Rico Sauve and Pepe Alejandro Lopez who were badly in need of a trim. We took Pepe first and said "just clean him up." We returned a few hours later to find the happiest, confident puppy one could ever imagine! He was a four pound toughguy struttin his stuff, complete with a custom cut bandanna that magnified his personality just so! He looked great and his attitude proved he loved his time with Rena and his new do. She brought HIS personality out in a VERY indivdualized manner, so we went to get Rico for some pampering. We left Rico with Rena and said "you're the pro, do what ya like!" Now, you must understand, Rico ain't exactly the most masculine of dogs, and his "hair" is...um...shall we say "wispy". He is a real character. Off we left, knowing he was in capable hands. We returned a bit later only to find our Rico to be transformed into a pompadorean toughguy! Complete with a mohawk instead of funny lookin wi more

I'm never taking my dog here again! 4/6/2008

My dog was boarded at AZ Pet Resort on three separate occasions and each time I was misbilled for services I didn?t request or need, or my dog was not given the services I had requested. For example, I was charged for fontline when she didn?t need it, ?play times? I didn?t request and have no proof she actually received, and was billed for treats I didn?t ask for. The final straw was when I was out of town for over a week and my dog was supposed to have been in doggie-day-camp every day but for some unknown reason wasn?t put out once to play with other dogs. She was by herself for a week without anyone noticing the error!!! It seems to me the kennel is run very poorly and is disorganized. Some of the front desk staff and kennel workers are very friendly and caring, but the owners are not courteous and the billing mistakes indicate a larger problem of poor management. more

My dogs love it! 10/25/2007

My 3 dogs are always eager to go in whenever we drop them off at the AZ Pet Resort, and when it's time to pick them up they almost seem sad to go. The employees really seem to care about the pets and to enjoy spending time with the animals. I love reading the doggie diary they've completed for my pets each day. They also don't mind taking phone calls if you feel the need to call and check in on your loved ones. more

Great boarding 6/1/2006

We take our dogs here and they love it. They get pampered and groomed and come home clean and fresh and clipped and snipped. We love taking them here and feel comfortable knowing they are well taken care of. more

I took my dog here once before and I was really happy with their service. They took great care of my dog, she seemed very happy. They had lots of toys and take your animal out to play. So it's not like their stuck in a kennel all day they do activities with them. more
