Aquarium Depot

The old Aquariam Center was one of a kind .Their selection of fresh and saltwater fish was amazing. Over the past 2 years it turned into a dump. They said they were moving and they did....right next door. It now is just your average neighborhood store with a limited variety of fish. The staff ,however, is great . While browsing I was offered help at least 4 times. It's only a shadow of its former self, but much better than the disaster it had become in the prior place. I used to bring my kids just to see the displays....no more. more

For those that remember this place as The Aquarium Center, wipe that from you mind. To say that it is a shadow of it's former self would be incredibly generous. The place is a mess, the tanks are grimy and mostly empty lacking the basics of anything. The dry goods section is now minimal at best and the help is just plain lazy....otherwise they would be moving and cleaning something up. I would genuinely have to say that any great reviews for this store have got to be done by people associated with the store, there is no unbiased view of this store that could say it is anything more than a pretty poor neighborhood pet store with only enough inventory to justify about 25% of the space it takes up. They are supposed to be moving to a smaller store in the same shopping center but can't say when that will be. Maybe a new start there (I mean what the heck, they may even clean and repaint the tanks when they move them and put working lights above them) will bring them up to at least a quality neighborhood pet shop.....if they get some new and energized employees. It's a real shame considering just a few years ago this place was an absolute treasure, one of the best aquarium stores in the nation.. more

I visited 3 area aquarium stores (including Aquarium Depot) recently looking for a fish that is often difficult to find. While I ended up finding what I was looking for at one of the other stores, Aquarium Depot had BY FAR the nicest and most helpful staff. The people working at the other stores behave as though customers are a nuisance and seem irritated by questions. Tracking down someone to help me was also a challenge. When I went to Aquarium Depot, I was asked if I needed assistance by 3 different staff persons during the 20 minutes or so I was browsing. The one I spoke to was also professional in how he handled my questions. I'm looking forward to seeing how the renovations to their aquarium room will improve the space. I definitely recommend this store, particularly for new(ish) fishkeepers! more

I have been going to the Depot/ Center for the last 4 years. I have purchased many fresh water fish, reptiles, food, tanks and other equipment. I have never encountered a rude or unknowledgeable employee. The only problem I have ever had with products or animals was my own doing. more

I am from Chicago,IL and I stayed in Randallstown,MD for a week. I have been there before to check out the selections of unusual fish and inverts. I had an interest in buying one species of razorback clams that we do not have in the midwest. I spoke to Dave and he promised he could ship it @ an affordable price. I come back the next day to speak to Mike the owner and he says it is going to cost me $40 more to ship it. This was confusing. He did suggest buying a battery operated pump which I did and he suggested to buy a styrafoam cooler but I could not find one in any store. Mike offered me supposedly one for free just to find out the day I picked up my livestock that he charged me an extra $5 more which I was flabbergasted since he did not seem to recognized my purchase. It seems as he forgot his offer of free and as if he don't remember next to finding my livestock. Also the cashiers we're pretty lazy or not helpful when it came to attempting to pay for the purchases. The variety and unusual nature of this store's fish stock used to be much more impressive a few Pros: Variety of fish (used to be better, though), generally healthy fish Cons: Occasionally rude and often unhelpful staff more

I walked through the door and said DAMN! it's gone,the staff, the variety, the cleanliness, the fish, it was a sad and sorry sight. My two children who rembered the center in its glory asked what happend .I just told them I guess a good thing doesent last for ever. Heres to the Grahms and for keeping a good thing going for so many years. truley, thank you ! more
