My wife and I went to Applebees for dinner late one night after a long day working in the yard since we didn't really feel like preparing anything at home. We went in to Applebees...

Hair in Food 9/16/2009

This evening my boyfriend and i visited Applebee's location in Tomball, Tx. Throughout the entire meal our waitress was great. By the time my boyfriend was almost done with his food he found a large hair buried underneath his french fries. When our waitress came back we pointed it out to her and she told us that she would have her manager come and talk to us about it. About five minutes go by and finally the waitress comes back with our ticket. I look at it and notice that $5 was taken off of our ticket......(perfectly acceptable to me). So i go ahead and pay. And we wait......and wait....and wait for this ""manager"" to come talk to us. At that point I turn around to find this so called ""manager"" sitting at a table staring at us and eating food...We get up to leave and on the way out my boyfriend stopped the ""manager"" to tell her about the hair in his food and she gave him a sorry excuse for an apology and told him she took 5 dollars off our ticket........To say the least we will NOT be returning to this location. And this woman was a sorry excuse for a manager. So beware if you get hair in your food....you will get NO apology... Pros: excellent service Cons: Disgusting hair in food more

Waited too long for service. 7/18/2007

My wife and I went to Applebees for dinner late one night after a long day working in the yard since we didn't really feel like preparing anything at home. We went in to Applebees in Tomball on Hwy. 249 an hour before the posted closing time on the door. We walked inside and stood at the counter for over 6 minutes before we were ever greeted. Then finally a busboy walked past and asked if we had been helped yet. We told him that we hadn't and so he grabbed a couple of menus and sat us down in the area were the other customers were dining. We then proceeded to wait, and wait, and wait. 20 minutes went by without even someone coming by to ask us what we would like to drink. At this point, I got up, walked back to the counter and found the busboy again and told him that I would like to speak to the manager. It took the manager another 5 minutes to come out and talk to me. I simply told him all the above that happened and that we were leaving and would never be back. He apologized, but offered no concessions. He blamed the whole thing on a cook not showing up, which is interesting considering that we never got to the point where we could place an order. I would blame poor management for not having a hostess there, and not making sure that the waiter/ress was keeping up with their tables, not the cook. If the restaurant is open, there needs to be someone at the door to greet them within 30 seconds as a standard rule, not 6 minutes. A waitress should collect the drink order within 2 minutes of being seated as a standard rule, not 20 minutes. These were the failures that occurred. As far as the food quality goes, I have no idea since I never got to order any. I went home afterwards and went to bed without dinner. Pros: Nice clean restaurant. Cons: Terribly inexcuseable service. more
