My tenant called them at 11 pm on Friday night, Thanksgiving weekend. They were told that there was a $197.00 charge for coming that night and I have no problem with that. It WAS a holiday weekend.
My tenant could have easily waited to have us walk her through the problem, but she did not. The dining room light fixture was shorting out and she was scared. The technician came, took down the light fixture, and checked the electrical panel. He stated that there was paper in it, (fire hazard) there was scorching, the breakers weren't up to code and that a new panel was necessary. If we wouldn't have called and told him to STOP, just make it safe, we would have been facing quite a bill. As it was, over the $197 he charged $99 to tighten a screw and another $99 to remove the light fixture.
I had my electrician come out during business hours. He checked the panel, said that there was an old burn spot from when the panel was being worked on when an electrician hit the (always) live electricity and scorched the metal. It had NOTHING to do with the light fixture. The paper was just a wrap over a wire far above the breakers and all of the breakers were fine. Some were just older than others and not the updated type. He also said that he would sleep easily with that panel in his house. BUT the technician from Any Hour terrified my tenant, cost me extra money and would have cost me a lot more if we hadn't stopped him.
If you have an emergency, go ahead and use them, but expect a heart stopping bill! I would also get a second opinion on their bid, when possible.
