I use Dr. Karr and I have the opposite to say, alot of these comments are about prices, of course you have to pay an office visit...the ignorance seems to be the problem. I have always been assisted here and the office visit is 10 dollars cheaper than anyone else in the city i have tried to go to. Dr. Karr is the sweestest most attentive lady ever. We found a box of kittens and she gave us a break on prices and has helped us keep them alive to where now they are healthy and strong. Infested with ear mites and worms we wouldnt have been able to afford everything without their great tender service. I will always go back, and even though we are moving 20 minutes away it is worth the drive to see a doctor that cares about your animals, no matter how insignificant a box of kittens could have seemed to someone else, i genuinly feel helped by the staff here. They also gave us tons of tips on the bottle feeding and timelines to move the kittens forward in food choices. :D I will always go there for Dr. Karr. more

Take Time to ASK. 5/12/2011

I just recently started going to Antioch Dog and Cat Hospital, and have been very happy with there services, if you don't ask how much services are going to cost then obviously you don't care , don't blame them for increasing there prices, all businesses are raising there prices these days, if you want to know how much there services cost just ask, they'll print off a detailed listing of the services there going to provide for your animal, and there cost, then its up to you, if you agree to paying for those services, you just sign the statement, otherwise go elsewhere, if you don't like there prices, try the City of KCMO Shelter(New name - Halfway Home for Pets) offers cheap vet services, if you like there unusual hours Good Luck. more

Price Issues R US! 10/29/2010

The Almighty Dollar has become the main goal at Antioch Dog & Cat Hospital! I asked the owner vet why he is not up front with his prices when I was presented with the more than a doubled charge for what I have been charged in the past at his clinic on this annual appointment? \r His answer was ""I didn't think you cared"" \r Yes, suprisingly a customer does care when your obviouse intent is to double charge them! \r Something has change drastically at this clinic - I believe that it is called a lack of business ethics! more

Price not known till payment is required 9/23/2008

My cat was having a bladder infection and so we took him in. We were told it was only going to be a few hours which turned out to be an overnight stay. After all was said and done the bill turned out to be over $230 and was never given prices even when asked. When waiting to talk to the doctor before leaving my girlfriend said her ankles were being bitten by fleas. She thought it was in her head, but come 3 weeks later my cat has fleas and a tapeworm. He is an indoor cat that has only been outside to go to the vet and we moved into a place that has never had a pet in it and had brand new carpet installed before we moved in. Ended up going to Petco to buy medicine to treat our cat to avoid having to pay another $230 for something that they caused.\r \r Will never return Pros: Was able to walk in without an appointment Cons: Cat contracted other illnesses after visiting the office, Pricey more

Ask about hidden charges prior the visit. 7/25/2008

Called to ask what it would cost to get a bordetella (kennel cough) vaccine for our dog. Quoted $12 over the phone and that no appt was necessary. My husband took the dog in and was told it would be $18 and he needed an appt. which they scheduled for 4 pm. After they gave the vaccine, my husband was told the bill was $44. He asked why and was told they charged $34.50 for an office visit plus $12 for the vaccine. I called and spoke with the receptionist who stated the person in charge was not there but she would have him call me. I had called several vets to see how much they charged. I went to this vet because I was quoted a better price. I could have went to the vet up the street for less . We didn't drive to the Antioch Dog and Cat Hospital (twice) just to be charged four times the amount we were quoted. They need to inform customers of this additional charge like all the other vets I had called. Pros: staff was friendly on the phone Cons: charged 4 times more than quoted more
