Great stuff, but get it on eBay 4/7/2007

There are several people on ebay who sell Anthropologie items new with tag (NWT) or used. it's unlikely you'll find current season items, but I've found shirts new there that were sold out in the stores. I love their clothes, but simply can't force myself to pay full price for them! And if you wait, that $128 sweater may get marked down to $19.99...always check their sale area in the store, the prices there are better than the online sales on www.anthropologie.com more

Pricey 8/30/2006

Anthropologie, with locations (in this area at least) downtown and U Village, is where you shop if you like shopping at certain outdoor markets in Europe. Except, in this case the stalls would all be selling the same lacy knockoffs at a price marked up at least 500 percent. Shopping here reminds me of my great aunt's house with all its frilly gewgaws and precious looking furnishings. The clothes are not all like this thankfully. But many of the clothes here look great until you try them on and realize that they are shoddily made. Service is unobtrusive and friendly. more

Anthropologie: The study of why people pay too much for clothes 5/1/2006

Seriously. It's lucky that this store is next to Urban Outfitters because the prices are similar so no one knows that it's overpriced. I admit that I am attracted to clothing displayed in the window and their catalog is intriguing, but I would be ashamed if I told my future kids that they couldn't go to college cause mommy wanted to look pretty for a couple of days. more

My favorite store for *me* 4/20/2006

If I could, I'd buy all of my clothes here and lots of things for my home. Their prices are high, but if you can discipline yourself to shop the sales rack you'll find great deals. Often things are marked down 75% within a few weeks. And, if you're a Gilmore Girls addict, like I am, you'll find lots of "Lorelai" things there! more

Great stuff, but pricey 4/14/2006

I love wandering through Anthropologie and fingering all the merchandise - but I more often that not leave empty handed. Their clothing is fun and unique and they use fabrics that you don't see on every street corner. I also love all the homey stuff that they have. Again, fun and unique things that you just can't find in every shop on the street. But they are SO expensive. Perhaps I need to learn how to "work the sales" and if anyone feels like clueing me in, please do! more

Beautiful everything. 3/29/2006

I love shopping at Anthro. Their sale selection is always extensive, and they have a ton of gorgeous stuff for the home, too. Their full-price items are very expensive, and it's been my experience that their tops don't always last very long. For this reason, I shop the sales at Anthropologie and haven't been let down. more

Cabinet hardware and tons more! (Cabinet hardware??) 12/21/2005

It depends on your style, of course, but I am always lusting after the home stuff at Anthropologie. (The great majority of clothing items at Anthropologie are aimed at someone a little more girly and fuddy-duddy than me, but for some reason, I tolerate a higher degree of girliness in home decor. It's a shame my husband doesn't!) Anthropologie has a surprisingly big selection of funky cabinet hardware! I had never noticed the hardware prior to my recent visit to the downtown store, but they have their full selection online. They must have some at the U-Village store, too. The prices at Anthropologie can be ridiculous, but I will say that their home decor is comparatively less outrageous than their clothes and other apparel. I pick up almost every home item in the store. I can't say the same about the clothes, though I do like the stuff that isn't designed for people twice my age and the sales racks can produce some good finds from time to time... Anyone who's shopping for me for Christmas or my birthday can file these little tidbits away... more

Girly Frocks 9/9/2005

Anthropologie sells tremendously girly clothing--lacey tops, poufy dresses, etc. They also somehow manage to look one-of-a-kind,a s if you found some marvelous vintage skirt in your grandmother's attic. If that is your look, you should check out the merchandise here--but unless you're well-off, I woud stick to the sale rack, where there are always good deals to be had. I just can't justify spending 130 dollars on a skirt. more

Fun and offbeat clothing and gift ideas 8/15/2005

Anthropologie has unique and offbeat clothing for the girl that likes to look a little different. The clothing tends to be somewhat delicate and very feminine and is best suited for leaner girls. They also have a broad range of accessories and items for the home, and is a great resource when you need the perfect gift idea. Check out the beautiful line of candles from Aunt Sadie in delicious homey scents like Pumpkin Pie as well as the Pin Stripe skirt perfumes. more
