Anna's Variety Exotic Bird

Very helpful, very sweet! I absolutely loved going to meet all her little birds, seeing the people coming in to handle birds that were almost old enough to go home. I really do appreciate that she familiarizes the birds with their owners before she sends them home. Great! more

I posting this review to refute the accusations of some other reviewers. I've only known Anna for a couple of years, but as a pet owner of many years, I completely understand her point of view. Anna will not sell a bird to someone that she believes will not care for the bird as if it were their own child. It's her business and she cares for her birds. I first went to Anna after my bird died and Anna helped me to find a bird that fit my living style and personality. I spent a couple of hours there looking at all the different breeds. There were several birds that I asked questions about, but she did not recommend them because of their age, temper, personality or various other reasons. I ended up getting a Parrotlet and a Lovebird. They are still with me today, but I also have a second Parrotlet and a Quaker that I got from Anna. Each time she spent plenty of time with me in showing me how to care for them, what they like to eat, recommending cage sizes and layout of perches and food dishes. She wants the owners and the pets to do well. There are several other pet retailers in this area that sell a variety of birds, but after becoming an Avian fan and doing a lot of research, I would not bring a bird into my house from anyone other than Anna. \r \r She is neither greedy or crazy. She has a fan club of supporters all across this state that have been going to her for years. I met one just yesterday at a Doctor's office after she saw my copy of Bird Talk magazine. She was telling me how she had to go spend time with her bird for two weeks when it was a chick before she could get it. I asked her, even though I knew in my heart, and sure enough, she had gotten her Lovebird from Anna several years before. Many times I've been there and customers were there with a chick getting to know it. Every time I go to visit with my birds, she takes them out, checks them over and offers to clip their nails or wings. Money is never an issue. And by the way, her prices are by far the best in the state of NC. \r \r For those of you who don't have time to love your pets as much as myself, many others and Anna, don't waste your time going to see her. Go to Petsmart or some other animal department store and get what you they'll sell you. \r \r If you want professional, loving, and expert advice from a veteran and are willing to invest the right amount of time to get a good bird, go see Anna. She's the best. more

I have known Anna for years, and have never seen any of the behavior described in these bad reviews. I have bought birds from her and supplies for two cockateils and two quakers. She also clips the wings of my birds. Her prices are reasonable for the birds and supplies. I have been there when she was very busy but still treated every customer and every bird with the same loving care. Any merchant would take care of what makes the money for them. White cockateils are rare and therefore expensive. I cannot imagine anyone in the business of selling birds not taking care of a rare bird and letting the other birds hurt it. Just doesn't sound reasonable to me. As for the amount you spend, she has never charged me for advice and never asked me how much I was going to spend so she would know how to treat me!! more

She is the most ignorant merchant I have ever dealt with. What is more disturbing is she took our money for years, the minute I walked in to ask questions I was thrown out and told to never come back! However, my 18 year old daughter who is a pet lover wanted this little white cockatiel. Well Anna brought her into tears grabbing the bird off of her and telling her to get out of the store. I wanted to make my girl happy so I sent my older daughter up there to purchase the bird for her. Well when we got the bird home it had so many bites from other birds we took it to the vet and she said this bird was almost pecked to death. My daughter is applying medication to her bird around the clock, happy to say we are seeing improvement. Please be very careful when you purchase any bird from her especially when she tells you all is well with the bird and the sex. She really has no idea what sex her birds are! And be ready for a sermon about her husband who passed away and she needs money. If you don’t agree with her she will slash out at you and throw you out of the store. She balso has no feeling for children she cannot stand them she will allow them to touch birds that are highly dangerous to a child. All I can say is she is a very mean non-caring person accept if you spend 250.00. more

Birds may be hand raised, but not friendly, high priced, found items cheaper, senile old lady who acts like she knows everything about every bird species and talks too much, should retire instead of complaining about not making enough money more

I have bought a couple of birds from Anna. She hand raises them and cares about each and every one of them. She will help you in any way that she can. She has very good prices....much better than any chain store. I love going there to ""visit"" the birds. She is a very caring and compassionate woman who loves animals. I would recommend Anna's to everyone who wants a bird. Pros: very good service more
