Priority check: they care more about $$$ than your pet 1/2/2014

In search of a new vet, I occasionally put them to the test, in order to find a vet that cares more about my pet’s health than money. Ya know, make sure their priorities are in line.\r \r So I brought my cat, Linny, (who was diagnosed with a heart murmur) to multiple vet offices and asked for their vet’s quick opinion- listen to his heart and tell me if it sounds like a problem I should have checked out, or a minor, harmless murmur. Let me start by saying that every one of these vets had an empty waiting room and plenty of time on their hands to spend a measly 2 minutes with me to offer their professional advice. The vet didn’t even HAVE to talk to me, I would have been content with a tech bringing him to the back, letting the vet check him, and then passing along the message to me.\r \r Animal Medical Center of Holly Springs: FAILED MISERABLY \r \r I didn’t get past the receptionists who told me they wouldn’t spend a second with my cat without a full exam for no less than $50. I explained that he’s already had a full exam with blood work that came back normal- I just wanted verification he had a problematic heart murmur- nothing more. I finally walked into Crossroads Vet and a doctor promptly came out from the back and listened to his heart and recommended that I look into it further, and even took the time to answer some of my questions. I found my new vet that passed the test- one that is willing to give a few minutes of his time to help a suffering animal without expecting anything in return! That’s the kind of vet… *person* I want looking after my 5 pets. \r \r \r Bottom line: Crossroads Vet cares more about your pet than lining their pockets and I recommend them highly. Good luck finding a vet with good priorities, they’re hard to find nowadays. Animal Medical & Surgical Center in Canton, Animal Hospital of Towne Lake, and Animal Medical Center of Holly Springs’ money-grubbing priorities definitely DO NOT match mine. more

He's the reason my cat is dead. No, really.\r \r We brought my cat in after she had not eaten for a few days, vomited, was hiding, couldn't walk, etc. We requested he do blood work, a standard procedure, and he refused. Instead, he charged me $350 to give her anesthsia and invasively cleaned her *ears*, of all things. Why?! She became worse and never recovered. It completely disoriented her and made her suffer even greater in her last days. \r \r I called him back the day after we went in and asked what we could do. He literally said, ""Uuuuum, hmmmmmm, I just...hmmmmm, uuuuuuh"" and told me to bring her in after the weekend because he was busy waxing his floors. \r \r I took her to Towne Lake Animal Hospital that day. There they did blood work and found out she was in shock and having kidney failure and we had to put her down that day. Towne Lake said that whatever Dr. Haden did and gave to her caused her to go into shock. They said the anesthesia he used was a very ""old-school, heavy hitter"", as she put it, and said she's surprised he still uses it because not many vets do. She also agreed the ear procedure was completely unnecessary and wrong. Whether my cat could have been cured and he caused the kidney failure, or whether it was kidney failure all along, we'll never know. But I do know he made her worse in her final days by putting her into shock.\r \r He's not much of a doctor, having declined doing the blood work that would have answered all of our questions and quite possibly saved her life. It's a standard procedure that he wasn't even capable of doing and he used old school drugs, and now my sweet kitty is dead. I mailed him a letter a few weeks later explaining what happened and never received so much as call or letter back. How's that for fantastic vet care? At least he collected his $350 from me! more

Best Vet in town 4/17/2013

I am so pleased with Dr. Hayden and saff. These three are dedicated and determined to help pets. We have been bringing our cats to them for the last few years. Our oldest cat, zipper was very depressed after his best buddy passed away and he became very ill because of this depression. Dr. Hayden did several tests on him and came to the smart conclusion that Zipper was depressed and that it wasn't pancreatitis. We would have been giving him medications that he didnt need and probably would have killed Zipper ourselves had we listened to the last vet we took him to. Then we brought our other cat, Summer in. The other vet we brought her to didn't bother telling us that she had feline herpes and she just kept getting ulcers in her eyes because of this. She could have gone blind if Dr. Hayden hadn't educated us on the importance of giving her meds regularly. She has only had one flair up in over two years. Before she was having them back to back. Then we brought in our other cat, JJ. We fou more

Killed my cat. No, really. 8/7/2012

Do NOT take your animal here. He sent my cat into shock and she died the next day. We never found out what was wrong with her because he refused to do blood tests, a standard vet procedure. There were a lot of "I don't know" and "Hmmmm..."s thrown around. He sedated her, dug into her ears because he thought her throwing up was somehow ear related. What? We paid $350, brought her back home, and she never recovered. We had to take her to the Animal Hospital of Towne Lake the next day because he had no idea what was wrong with our cat when I called him and told him there was no improvement. Our cat was having kidney failure, something he either caused, or could have been caught earlier, had he done the blood tests. She may have been able to be fixed, but whatever he did to her the day before, this new Towne Lake vet assured us, put her into shock and she was having kidney failure. There was no way we could save her. We had to put her down. She could have been saved, but he killed her. Go more

The BEST animal clinic in the area! 7/16/2011

Dr. Haden is wonderful! My dog has been seeing him for nearly two years and absolutely loves him. And my dog is very picky. He's VERY selective with who he lets touch him. Dr. Haden's prices are reasonable and the clinic is VERY clean. His staff is well organized, super friendly, and very knowledgable about veterinary care. My dog is also groomed here and the groomer does a fantastic job. I've ALWAYS been pleased when I pick up my pet. So, if you're looking for a vet who truly has your pet's best interest at heart, look no further than AMC of Holly Springs. My dog has only been a patient for close to two years, but so far I've been very pleased :) more

Great Care for Birds 4/15/2010

We took our parrot there because we could not find anyone around that took birds. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable. We expected the bill to be huge but was pleasantly pleased at the resonable rates. more
