Hearts of Gold and Excellent Care 4/26/2012

My golden retriever has been cared for by the AMCoL staff for at least a year, and I have had a wonderful experience with all of the staff that I have encountered. On top of giving top-notch care for my dog's various maladies, they have shown me how to provide a healthy and hopefully life-prolonging home for her. She is maintaining a healthy weight for the first time in her life, and is quite healthy despite her repeated attempts to eat large wooden or plastic objects. It is with thanks to the devoted care of the staff, she has not required surgery, which would have been a likely greatly profitable solution to have proposed any of the times our pup has eaten inappropriate items. In addition, I witnessed the tireless work for the rescue of a dog that lost his home of 10 years. The staff saw the special needs and circumstances of this ""mutt"" and gave him loving attention through his extensive health problems, treatment and insensive grooming needs in order to make him more desirable to potential owners. It was only because of the tireless efforts of the office manager, Jen Rossi, and the entire caring staff (at this location as well as the Brambleton location), does an endlessly loving and well-deserving dog have a new life in a happy home with the undying devotion of his new owners. The treatment, love and care that I witnessed first-hand from every staff member involved with the unwanted and extremely medically challenged animal is the reason I will remain a loyal customer of theirs. more

Love Them! 4/23/2012

My dog has been a patient here since I moved to the area last year and I've had nothing but great experiences. They take great care of my dog and thoroughly tell me what is wrong with her, and the pros/cons of any course of action so that I can make an informed decision. The employees treat the animals with care as if they were their own. Another point of convenience is a great pet store next door that sells organic food/toys/etc. It's nice to be able to park the car once and get all of my pet's needs taken care of! more

Don't take your Pets here 8/2/2011

We have had the worst experience with this vet. Do yourself a favor and do not/not take your animals here. Save yourself the trouble we have been through.\r We had been taking our dog and cat here for a couple of years.\r Then, a couple of months ago, we decided to take our cat to another location, after we observed that they really did not seem to care about our cat at this location. All they did was suggest a bunch of sedation and expensive testing, but they never bothered to even try and touch her to give her a complete exam. Granted, she can be very aggressive, but sure enough, after taking her to a new vet, they took the time to give her a full hands-on exam without sedating her even. She is like a new cat now, after getting the care she needed at the new vet.\r We decided to keep our dog at Ashburn Farm though, hoping that would be fine. We were wrong. We took him in for what we thought were just two immunizations (per all the emails and letters we got from them reminding us). Well, first of all the service was terrible. The lady at the desk hardly acknowledged us when we arrived. She was on the phone for over 5 minutes, and never even bothered to look up or apologize, or acknowledge our presence. Then, when it came time for the bill, we were surprised to learn we would be charged for a yearly exam, even though our dog had just had one less then 5 months ago! When I voiced my concern over this, the 'hospital director' Jennifer Rossi came out, saying that an exam was necessary each visit, but then admitted there could have been a way to sync the shots so this wouldn't happen. I explained that nobody ever took the time to explain this to us, and that all of the correspondance we had received never mentioned that I would be paying for an exam today as well. The way she decided to fix this situation with a loyal customer? She turned to the lady (who had by now gotten off the phone) and said, 'Please print up their records, so they can take them to a new vet.' Wow! Talk about TERRIBLE customer service.\r If you are looking for a vet for your animal/s, do yourself a favor right now and DO NOT take them here. I have never written a review like this (never really written a review, period online), but after this experience felt I had to.\r They are detached, uninterested and generally TERRIBLE at customer service at this place, run!\r more
