This hospital started to be my dream place to take my dogs. I usually take my dogs to be boarded every week just so they and I can have some time apart and for appointments as well as for trips or events I may have planned. I took my dogs there every week for almost a year and I started to notice things little by little. The things that concerned me was that sometimes The staff would say one thing but yet do another and these were small things at first. Then they begin to do things on their own like treat my dogs without my permission and when I arrived to pick them up I would have charges of things that I never approved of or even knew about. They did this so many times that sometimes I would refuse to pay because I felt it just wasn't right. Recently, I called them knowing my dog was in the need of a fecal test but I explained that we had an emergency and I would do it at my convenience when we returned. The nurse had no problem and told me not to worry about it and that everything was going to be fine and just my regular charge was going to be added. I boarded them and we went on our way but upon our returned all of a sudden we had 3 different charges that was added without my knowledge and I was livid mostly because the nurse I talked to lied and try to say she told me but I must of been to distort to hear her. How dare them try to put that on me when the fact was they did it on purpose and had the nerve to say that one of the things they did was a requirement but I knew better then that because I made it a point to know since I bring my dogs each week. They also gave my dog an un-approved shot which made her sick so now they needed to bring the doctor in and of course all this was added up charges that was added to my bill that I refuse to pay. Listen I don't want to say all the staff is bad there because there were some that I truly liked and will miss but if you decide to board you better be careful because that's where they think they have the right to do whatever they want to your dog at their discretion then lie to you and make you think they had no other choice which is complete bull crap. I have now recently changed vets and they are now holding on to my records as if they think I'm so desperate that I will pay just to get them. But sometimes you just have to stand your ground against something you know is right. I don't recommend this place at all especially for boarding, they over charge and may seem like they care about your pet (and don't get me wrong some of them really do) but I can guarantee you that money is the top bases of most of their caring. more

Thumbs Up to AMC!!! \r My young and frisky 11 month old cat, Charlie, suffers from Heart Disease. He is my first to raise/care for on my own, and so I've grown very attached to him. I brought Charlie in for a minor visit to our vet about 10 weeks ago when I learned that he was in congestive hear failure. \r \r Every time I had visited AMC before I was able to recognize that they were a very capable and professional staff, but since this particular visit I'm sure I've lucked out with the very best veterinarian team around. My vet, Dr. Kelly Cavanagh is absolutely OUTSTANDING! After breaking down with the news of my sick kitten, Dr. Cavanagh not only walked me through the options, but also gave me great emotional comfort during my distress. She has called me numerous times just check up on him, and has even lent me her personal email address to contact her in case of emergency!! Dr. Cavanagh even used the AMCare Fund to help get Charlie the care he needed! I can't say enough good things about Dr. Cavanagh - she has truly made these awful circumstances for Charlie MUCH more bearable in more ways than one. \r \r I must also mention that the front desk staff is wonderful! Always friendly and professional. Best of all, they make me feel so welcome every time I stop in. Not only do they recognize me and remember my name - but they remember my cats name, as well! \r \r I grew up with a couple of family pets, and I have never experienced such wonderful care. If you are someone who considers you're pet as part of the family, I certainly recommend the AMC. They will make you and your pet feel right at home every time. more

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!\r One word: Awesome. I have used many vets in the GR area over the years, and AMC is the best I have experienced. Our vet, Dr. Kelly Cavanaugh, has been wonderful. She has done everything possible to keep my elderly dog Chance healthy and has even called me out of the blue just to see how he's doing. I have used the grooming and boarding services and have been very satisfied with those services. The staff at the front desk are all great, but Brittany and Kate have been especially kind and helpful. During a recent hospital stay (me, not my dog),\r the AMC staff took care of Chance until I was discharged from the hospital, doing many things that were above and beyond what would be expected in such a situation. more

I would definitely recommend them, they were very helpful and answered all my questions. I was seen right away and didn't have to wait once I got there, the prices were very reasonable compared to other places that I called. I will be continuing to go there with my puppy for the remainder of his care!! more

Boarding has gone to the dogs! 5/1/2012

I used to be a happy and loyal client of the Animal Medical Center's Vet and Boarding for years, and frequently brought my pets there as we travel a lot, but in the last year or so I have noticed a serious decline in the care given and the quality of staff in the boarding area. There used to be a wonderful gal named Laura that always took excellent care of my pets in boarding, anticipated their needs to a T and was very organized, friendly, mature and professional no matter what the request. She had an obvious love of animals, was educated on animal care, and had a very special bond with not only my pets I noticed, but all the others in her care. I always felt so confident in leaving my ""babies"" there when I knew she was in charge. Lately, since she left, the rest of the staff in boarding seems very unorganized, ignorant of animal care, immature, unable to carry out simple instructions, and frankly, a few of the young girls that I've had experience with are actually rude! Amazing the difference that one person can make on a whole operation. After a few experiences like that I have since started going to another area boarding facility...and Vet! Too bad that Animal Medical Center got lucky with one competent staff member and can't intentionally attract and keep more associates like that. more

Seriously Not Recommended 8/9/2011

Although Dr. Carron is a great vet and Stacy is a great groomer, the administration is terrible. Their prices are too high compared to other local clinics and they have some serious policy issues. They see themselves as the greatest clinic ever and actually look down upon other clinics in the area. I had done business with them for four years. I've always given them positive feedback on their website. And just one time, I leave negative feedback regarding their high prices and Peggy in administration closes my account and sends my pet's records to me. They can't take criticism well at all. That is not a professional way to treat a client. I would not recommended using them, unless you want to spend more money for the same services you can get with other local clinics. more

Response to ""Greedy"" 7/10/2011

This post is slanderous and irrational. The LVTs at AMC are ALL graduates of accredited LVT programs and licensed by the state of Michigan and nationally accredited. It is obvious you do not have an accurate grasp of the medical issues at hand here. In addition, it is the policy of most accredited veterinary hospitals (the top 12% in the nation) not to authorized prescriptions for on-line pharmacies, given the widespread fraud involved in the online pharmacy industry. Since the veterinarian's relationship is with the patient/client, this is the only source authorized to take possession of the prescription. After that, it is up to the client to determine who they trust to fill the Rx with authentic, not counterfeit drugs. Our practice is committed to practicing quality medicine, so this is part of our assurance to our clients that they get real medications. If that does not fit your goals, another practice is certainly a good move for you. Your comment about ""high school dropouts"" is legally slanderous, couldn't be further from the truth as we generally hire only the top graduate of any given licensed accredited program. You may want to retract that unless you don't mind being investigated and prosecuted. more

The Best Veterinarians in Town! 3/23/2011

This clinic is amazing, I'd never take my pet to another clinic. They treat your pet like family, their prices are very resonable and I recommend them to everyone. Not only is the staff great, the facility is beautiful, clean and doesn't look or smell anything like the usual vet clinics. If your pet is a part of your family and you want great care go to Animal Medical! more

Greedy and don't really care for the pet..worse vet ever! 1/7/2011

I pretty much live a stress free life.. but dealing with this Wyoming, Mi Vet is always a lesson is extreme frustration. They have unqualified tech help. My cat had to have a hernia operation twice because of simple practices that were ignored. No real care for the pet... they just want to nickel and dome you to death. Never got a call back from the manager after I had to pay for two of the same operations...the second operation would not have been necessary if the vet tech wasn't some high school drop out. I tried to get a simple subscription faxed to an online reseller.. but they wouldn't do that. They made me drive in .. pick up the subscription and snail mail it to my online reseller? No matter that my pet needs the medication NOW... and not after I have to snail mail in my subscription to an online reseller like 1800Petmeds. Dealing with this Vet for the past two five years+ has been by far my worst experience of all time. They are just terrible money hungry vultures.. and it shows greatly. more

NOT RECOMMENDING FOR BOARDING SERVICES 6/28/2007

I used this business more than once to board my dog . My veterinarian does not do boarding and referred me here for boarding services. My experiences here were both consistent and sufficient in depth to have formed an opinion. Pros: Great location, pleasant, well trained, efficient FRONT OFFICE STAFF, Cons: READ THE REVIEW. IT SAYS IT ALL. more

I have only good to say about them 9/14/2006

My Jake has gone there his whole life they are very kind and helpful. When he got hurt they took him right in without an appointment, he enjoys going there more

Very Nice Staff 5/12/2006

I've been using this clinic for a few years now. They are great with my dog and show great care towards her. I have used them for yearly checkups, grooming, dental work and boarding. They seem to be competetive with other vets in the area. The staff up front is very friendly and always happy to help. The doctors seem to show great care as well. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is because of one con - if you don't buy the medications from them, they tend to get fussy. They say they don't care where you purchase the medication from, but if you don't buy it from them and it doesn't work, they refuse to cover follow-up treatment under the warranty of the medication dispensed. I discussed with the management and they will not budge from that practice. So, I sometimes feel pressured to buy the meds from them - although I haven't to date. \r Overall, they are a very good clinic and close to home. Recommended. more

Veterinarian 11/3/2005

This vet takes dogs, cats, birds and exotic pets. They offer surgical service, orthorpedic, ultrasound diagnostic, denistry, and they also take new patients. The prices are comparble to other vets in the area. I would recommend them. more

Your pet is in great hands here! 11/2/2005

They have a way of calming nervous pet owners! The Dr.'s take time to thoroughly go through any information with you and listen to all of your questions. Their handling with the pets is great to observe as well. In addition to regular visits, I have taken my Persian cats to be groomed. The groomers always have them looking so adorable! Can't say enough good things about the clinic and have referred many friends there. more
