Animal Kingdom

Good: The doctors were friendly and answered my questions during the office visit.. Bad: Office staff & vet techs not well trained, or very friendly. I don't usually get called back when I call with questions(happened several times). They're usually running late, and don't apologize for it. They've made billing errors, medication errors, and errors with what my dogs needed(said they were due for something when it was in their chart they were up to date). I also believe they nickel and dime you for everything.. Improvements: More training!. Other: One time a vet tech was suppose to hold my dog for the vet and she didn't even know how to properly hold him. There are many examples I can give but the last straw was when they made an error with my dogs medication. I simply value my dogs too much and don't trust them anymore.. more

They killed my bird with cow medicine (I took pictures and later consult another vet to confirm it). Terrible experience!! Worst place to bring your bird! First, they put me in a coldest room in the practice with tropical bird- later we switched. Second, Dr. Marsh was in such a hurry- another emergency waited. She gave my bird 2 shots, then took her into the different room and poked her belly- all my concerns about pain shock did not matter- she was in a hurry. After Dr. Marsh brought bird back from different room- she said that our poor bird need another antibiotic shot- one (have you seen antibiotic treatment in one shot?) No wonder that my bird slowly died 20 minutes after the procedures. My bill was astronomic- nobody ever told me how much it would be. After talking to a different vet- I was told that at least two out of three procedure were not necessary extra- way to make money. DIRTY-DIRTY-DIRTY! Hair and dust is everywhere- chairs, floor, tables, in the air! Customer service is very bad- I waited 25 minutes for the receptionist to swipe my card (she was talking to some friend, then on the phone, then another customer) Maybe they do a good job with dogs- they did "mistake" with my two birds and I lost them. Tried to negotiate the cost of the deadly procedure- they are not willing to discuss. Terrible customer service- if you love your pet- don't go there. Killers! more

I took my leopard gecko in to have it's tail checked out. I was worried about it because it was a dark color and generally didn't look healthy. The tail ended up coming off and the vet actually asked me if I wanted to keep it. more

I work in the animal field along with most of my (broad) social circle. I have heard so many horror stories about AK; I would never suggest taking an animal there. They've lied to my face about diagnosis, they're neglectful, they push treatments that aren't needed. This is a BAD choice for any person with a brain. After they expanded they stopped caring about the animals and started caring about the money. Please don't take your animals here -- especially exotics. AK will lie to you if it means they can squeeze an extra buck out of you. more

These doctors actually treated my hamster! I brought him in when I was in college because he was making weird wheezing noises in his cage and a friend of mine had recommended these guys because they treated his dog. Strange situation, but the vets took care of my Lemmiwinks and prescribed him some mineral for his water bottle. Good people. more
