I have been to this shelter many many times. They are always patient and kind with me and my children. When considering a dog adoption if you already have a dog, they will let you bring in your dog for a meet and greet. I highly and enthusiastically recommend them. I have made donations there and will continue to do so as often as I am able. more

This is a HIGH Kill Shelter! You obviously don't have dogs. We were interested in a pit bull. The worker told us since we're a family, their policy is ""No Pit Bull's can be adopted out to families with children or other pets."" A friend lost her pit bull that was chipped and licensed. She called AFV to see if they had her dog and they did. The next morning, it had been euthanized. My neighbor surrendered his dogs to AFV and the next day I went to see how they were. A female worker ignored me when I asked about the dogs. A male worker told me they were never in the system. Later that day my neighbor told me that AFV told him his pit bulls were going to be euthanized for being ""unadoptable"" I would rate this place a -100000000 but I have to rate something in order to place this comment. more

Recently I took my two kitties to the shelter. It was necessary because of my health issues. They were the kindest and most considerate people to me. They knew how very difficult this was for me to give up my Sonny and Tiger. I was able to stay as long as I wanted to and say good-bye and it was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. I called almost everyday to check on them and they were adopted within 3-4 days to a very good home. How do I know this? The people at the shelter called me and let me know. How sweet is that? I will always be grateful to them and let me tell you that whoever wrote those past negative reviews did not know what they were talking about. This place was immaculate and the people there care. They just get a little overwhelmed because so many of our animal friends are being brought to the shelter. Please do not have a pet if you are not going to love, protect and take good care of them. After all, they do not ask to be mistreated. I loved mine so much and it was devastating to have to give them up so please think before you have a pet. All they need is love. more
