Our senior cat was very ill. FIrst, Animal Farm is small and extremely dirty. When we brought our cat in, the vet did not even review our application to see that she is female, spade, senior aged, or her current and past medical history. He called her a ""he,"" and was surprised when we told him ""she"" was old and her symptons, ie: not eating, fur loss, hiding in dark places, not being active, losing interest, not responding to her name, etc. The vet did not check her vitals, mouth or eyes. Before his bogus diagnosis, another random cat walked into the exam room, further stressing-out our cat. He told us after putting an ultra-violet light on her that she had ringworm. The diagnosis took him 10 mins. He immediately sold us some cream and pills costing $250, and encouraged us to come back in 1 wk because he was out of pills and said that she would need another exam. Feeling emotional, we paid $250 and when we got home, felt uneasy. 1 wk later, we took her to SF Vet Specialists on 600 Alabama in Potrero Hill/Mission, and though the wait was very long, the service and vet were very professional and kind. The caring vet eventually told us that she had cancer (as we had already surmised) and probably didn't have much longer to live and if given chemo, there was slim chance she would survive. He told us she did not have ringworm and it certainly would not be the cause of her suffering symptoms. We made the difficult decision of putting her to sleep, sadly. We didn't want her to hurt anymore. The diff between a pro and experienced vet vs. a crock vet is that a pro will spend more time giving you advice thru dialogue. You should not have to fish for answers from a vet because a Dr. should be forthright and not sneaky. Also, our condo had FLEA infestation; our cat brought home fleas from Animal Farm exam, and later after our cat passed away, we had to bomb our place twice after I was attacked, eaten and miserable. We considered legal action. Stay far away!
