So nice! 10/7/2009

The staff at this hospital is so caring. The doctor really wants to get to know you and is so good with the animals. I brought in my cat for his vaccinations. It was quick and painless. Their prices are very affordable and I recommend this animal hospital to any San Francisco resident with a pet. I come back once a year for check ups and I never thought twice about going anywhere else but Animal Farm. more

God Bless Animal Farm 9/11/2008

Recently we found it necessary to take our 13 yr. old Akita mix dog to the Animal Farm because he had been coughing and did not seem like himself. The first visit that he had the vet found a large mass on his under side and also after taking x-rays realized that he had another tumor which was wrapped around his windpipe. It was hard for us to decide what would be in Gus' best interest. Dr. Stroh was going to be out of town for a week so we had time to decide. In the meantime when we would take him for a walk he was becoming incontinent. I called for an appointment for Gus and did not realize that the vet had returned. When I got to the Animal Farm thinking about only having him checked out, Dr. Stroh and I looked at each other as Gus was breathing very hard and he usually did after a short walk of 4 blocks and usually was running a fever, asked me if I wanted to put Gus to sleep, I told him that I needed to call my daughter first. We decided to put him down. The staff at Animal Hospital was very compassionate. I decided to be with Gus when he was put down and was allowed to stay afterwards for the time that I needed to be with him.\r God Bless All, \r Ethel Flores\r \r \r \r \r more

expired medicine 9/6/2007

I brought my hamster there. Dr. Stroe gave me medicine that had been used before and charged me for it. I called the company on the label and turns out the medicine was old and expired!\r The pet hospital was an old building, small and dirty. Amazing how some people can get away with passing themselves off as caring vets. I'll never go there again. more

Bogus, unethical, rip-off vet! Terrible experience. 7/6/2007

Our senior cat was very ill. FIrst, Animal Farm is small and extremely dirty. When we brought our cat in, the vet did not even review our application to see that she is female, spade, senior aged, or her current and past medical history. He called her a ""he,"" and was surprised when we told him ""she"" was old and her symptons, ie: not eating, fur loss, hiding in dark places, not being active, losing interest, not responding to her name, etc. The vet did not check her vitals, mouth or eyes. Before his bogus diagnosis, another random cat walked into the exam room, further stressing-out our cat. He told us after putting an ultra-violet light on her that she had ringworm. The diagnosis took him 10 mins. He immediately sold us some cream and pills costing $250, and encouraged us to come back in 1 wk because he was out of pills and said that she would need another exam. Feeling emotional, we paid $250 and when we got home, felt uneasy. 1 wk later, we took her to SF Vet Specialists on 600 Alabama in Potrero Hill/Mission, and though the wait was very long, the service and vet were very professional and kind. The caring vet eventually told us that she had cancer (as we had already surmised) and probably didn't have much longer to live and if given chemo, there was slim chance she would survive. He told us she did not have ringworm and it certainly would not be the cause of her suffering symptoms. We made the difficult decision of putting her to sleep, sadly. We didn't want her to hurt anymore. The diff between a pro and experienced vet vs. a crock vet is that a pro will spend more time giving you advice thru dialogue. You should not have to fish for answers from a vet because a Dr. should be forthright and not sneaky. Also, our condo had FLEA infestation; our cat brought home fleas from Animal Farm exam, and later after our cat passed away, we had to bomb our place twice after I was attacked, eaten and miserable. We considered legal action. Stay far away! Pros: No Pros whatsoever - Stay Far Away! Cons: Filthy facilities, Sneaky Vet, Unethical, and Unethical more

Not recommended for pet health care! 4/11/2007

I was very disappointed at this pet hospital. First, the receptionist is rude. She's more interested in what her son is doing at the computer then the client. Second, the vet carried on a conversation with some women about his products. He saw me and never acknowledged me, I waited over 30 minutes for a nurse to vaccinate my dog. Third, one of my neighbor's dogs died at this clinic and all what he said the vet told him was ""come pick up your dog, she's dead."" Many of my neighbors have observed how awful the customer service is at this clinic. I am an easy going person, but if you don't pay any attention to me imagine the attention my dog will receive. Don't go to this clinic. The only reason he gets any business is becuase he is the only pet hospital/clinic in this part of SF. Stay clear of this place!!! Pros: One of the nurses/aids was nice. Cons: very small space more

Animal Farm Pet Hospital 9/17/2006

Noah is one of the best Vets. in San Francisco. My first experience at Animal Farm Pet Hospital, the staff was great and informative for me and my beagle. The prices are great! I recommend Animal Farm Pet Hospital to anyone. Pros: friendly, customer service, prices Cons: Parking more

Most kind, respectful, empathetic, caring staff 9/6/2006

When I first went to Noah Stroe at Animal Farm Hospital, he and his staff were and continue to be a godsend. Another animal clinic, which will remain nameless, tried their very best to gauge my pocketbook to the fullest without compassion, advise or direction. I was referred by an aquaintance that Noah and his staff had a different approach. My very elderly dog was experiencing jitters/spasms & was diagnosed with something completely unrelated with a simple sonogram. I have seen countless folks come in with dire straits and Noah makes the difference. I continue to refer him and his kindeness to others who can't afford these pet clinics that charge a fortune and perform un-needed procedures costing much more than most of us can afford living here in SF. Pros: Good Energy, Caring, Understanding staff Cons: NA more

adequate pet care 7/9/2005

The actual medical facility inside is rather small to be called a hospital. It consists of a few examination rooms and a kennel area. The veterinarians on staff are usually knowledgeable and have a good relationship with all sorts of animals. I basically just bring my dog here for checkups and shots. Boarding once, but he hated that. The prices are pretty high, but they have not made any mistakes with my pet (some places are so careless when they're not dealing with humans), so I tend to bring him back. They send out reminders, also. more
