Excellent ER services 12/25/2011

I have had to take pets to the AEC twice in the past 12 years. They were absolutely wonderful. The first time, my cat was coughing up blood. They saw me immediately, explained everything they were doing and why, and answered all of my questions. My cat is still alive today, thanks to them. \r \r The second time was today - Christmas Eve! My dog has been ill for over two months, vomiting, bad potty, and my regular vet was not able to find the issue in all of that time. We had a crisis this afternoon and I rushed my dog up to the AEC. They were able to find her problem in less than an hour, something my regular vet was not able to do after 5 visits. Again, I was very satisfied with the service. \r \r A lot of the reviews have mentioned the high cost of services, but what I don't think they understand is that this is the animal ER. Like the people ER, it costs more than your regular doc. Even so, AEC cost me about the same as I would have paid at one of the higher-end spa-vets that are poppin more

My dog had bloat. I already new what was wrong with him but to walk in the place it was $80. We were there about an hour not cause it took them that long to do what they did (xray, pain pill, and catheter in his leg). We waited for my grandson and husband to get there cause in order to save him it was going to cost at least $3500.00 and then could not guarantee he would be fine, he was 10 so we did not feel that it would be beneficial to him. We walked out of there $773.45 later. I could not believe the high cost. It is totally ridiculous. If we did not have the money I don't know what would we do. Take him home and shoot him ourselves. It is totally outrageous what they charge. It is a scam for sure. more

Timmy's Fight to Live 2/9/2011

A little tiny stray kitty meowed on the top of his lungs one cold January morning. I noticed him and saw he was under nourished and had a striking resemblence to Nunzio my male cat. So I took him in and fed him as he ate aggressively. My girlfriend and I decided to take him on and took him to the vet for a physcial. He passed the big tests like cat HIV and a couple other tests. So we took him home and enjoyed his presence for about a week, then he began to vomit chronically. So we took him to the emergency clinic here listed and they took some snap tests to determine he had K9 Parvo. The lady vet Dr Curci I believe her name to be, gave Andrea and I the details of the virus, and said we could treat little Timmy ( his name came to be) with agressivce fluids and antibiotics for about three days. She had said that about 50-60% make it if they can live past the 72 hour turning point. She was very nice and knowledgeable and very busy that evening, for they had like 3 other emergencies going more

Excellent emerg. hosp. 1/31/2011

I had to take my cat in on a Sat. night and they saved my Buttercup's life!\r The Dr. was very nice and diagnosed the problem immediately!\r The staff was kind and seemed to love animals. For all that\r was done it was not too bad in price!\r Would recommend it to anyone! more

FIRE THEM!! 11/1/2010

I am absolutely DISGUSTED with this place. My husband runs my dog up there around 3am, because she digested some chocolate and was acting frantic. They told him to go home because he didn't have cash on hand. I call up there, they tell me to call poison control because they don't feel like doing it. Stupid morons. They should be fired. FIRED!! more

You saved my cat's life 1/24/2009

I took my 13 year old cat in at 4 AM on Sunday January 4, 2009. The vet was not optimistic as the cat was in heart failure and breathing 75 breaths/min with fluid in lungs. He gave me the full picture of what aggressive treatment would entail. I moved forward with no guarantees. Today, Lynx is home on diuretics, heart pills, aspirin regimen and low salt diet prescription food. He has regained his energy (for an old guy) but is home with heart disease but hope to live a peaceful life with whatever he has remaining . Without the clinic and their staff, I would have lost him that night. My personal vet stated they saved his life and gave him the chance to live with treatment for his illness. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hospital. They may be more expensive (?) but well worth it for a pet that is my family. Bless you all for your ministry, honesty and caring. more

Animal Emergency Clinic West 3/10/2008

We recently had to utilize the emergency clinic for our 9 year old greyhound. Dr Turner was the vet that took care of our big boy. We felt very confident in his treatment and diagnosis options. Sadly it was time for our big boy to retire once and for all. Dr Turner and the staff all were very caring of our dog and us. It has got to be hard to work with animals in a facility that sees so much sadness. We give them all credit. As far as the other comment-we didn't care the place is 1970's gold and brown. We just were thankful there even is such a facility for after hours and thankful professionals like Dr. Turner were there in our time of need! more

Horrid Experience,,, to say the least 2/9/2008

My sister and I had to take her dog to this clinic in the later evening for an emergency. I was completely shocked and upset by the service there. They did not act or look professional in the least. The exam rooms were out dated and dirty, the doctor who "helped" us, looked disheveled and had on broken glasses. They had to draw blood and take X-rays on our dog, and when he came back into the room, he was extremely upset. (he is the friendliest dog) He had a pocket of blood on his neck where they drew blood and bruises for days. I think they need some help there. more

Friendly expertise in a time of need 4/8/2007

We've had to take our dog, Sadie, to the Animal Emergency Clinic West on two different occasions. They have been very helpful and friendly. We had different staff both times, including both the veterinarian and the technician. The veterinarian we saw on our second visit was Jeni Hren, D.V.M. She was wonderful. And the technician made our normally skittish dog very comfortable and at ease. They are a great resource during off hours, and they even faxed over a report of the visit to our regular vet. more
