Animal Arts Academy

I went to animal arts grooming school several (9) years ago, I was not happy with the school>when i look back at the list of of dogs i did during that time, I found I did more baths than grooms, The instructor barb was rude at times and Kevin the other instructor would sit at the front of the class and fall asleep. I feel I came away with knowing how to run clipper but never learned how to groom several common breeds like a schnauzer,poodle, westies or several others,I wanted to learn how to do a cocker so I asked if I could bring one in to groom. that night the other students were given a dog to groom and recieved more help than I did, I feel because I brought a dog in that was the reason she wouldnt give much help to me, we were given grooming suppies that when I left there were several items we were never shown how to use, the grooming book we were given was from 1970 thirty yrs old infor, i can not say I enjoyed the experience but did makie a few good friends, Barb was not nice person to us. Feeling like I was stuck between a rock and a hard place with my finances, I had to do something to bring in extra money that I enjoyed. If I had to work two jobs then at least one of them was going to be something I LOVED to do. As a child I have always pretended to be a dog groomer and at almost 40 I can now say that I AM one. Animal Arts Academy changed how I felt about my situation financially and how I felt about myself. With knowledge came the confidence I was needing to keep motivated. I became a dog groomer because I love this field of work. Attending Animal Arts Academy has changed my life. Kristy and Kevin were/are the best instructors I have ever had. I love hands on training and this is how they teach. Kristy has an energy that can calm a nervous dog AND build a students confidence at the same time. Kevin really knows each and every dog like they are all his own. They both love dogs and truly treat each one that comes into the Academy like they one of their own. more

Academy Arts is an exceptional business. The groomers are REAL PROS, and everyone associated with them is sincere and interested in doing a great job! They "KNOW" dogs and love working with them. more

We take our 2 Goldendoodles to the Animal Arts Academy, and absolutely love it! It is quite obvious that they truly love what they do, and care about each animal that comes in. We have never left disappointed, and have always received our dogs groomed to our exact specifications.We used to take our them to Pet Smart for grooming and always left feeling disappointed.. Either they did not groom our dogs they way in which we had specified, or they charged us for a Full package without actually providing it. Anyway, they charge way too much for their "assembly line" grooming. Also, our dogs would come home and act traumatized for a day or so after a Pet Smart groom. They did not like going there, and the groomers would comment that they "freaked-out" the entire time. This never happens at the Animal Arts Academy. In fact, they are so excited when they get there, and are just as happy when they leave. The groomer has even commented on how well they behave while there. The price is also much more reasonable. Pet Smart $60+ per dog, Animal Arts Academy $42 per dog. We will never go anyplace else! You shouldn't either :-) Pros: Your dog will love this place! more

I took my poodle to this place to get him looking nice again. My poodle was way past a haircut and in bad need of a new look. They used him to help teach new students how to cut dogs hair. I have paid over $50. in the past to get cut, nails etc done. This time at this place was free because of them using him for the class demo. I would pay any price to have him come out looking as cute as he did that day. I could really tell they loved my dog and every dog that came in. I will only take him back there to get his cut from now on. I am not sure how much it is to get the works done, but it will be worth it. Your pet will come out looking like a show dog! Pros: Best cut my dog ever got. Cons: I had to drive from Fishers, but will do it again to get this great service. more
