Horrid, repulsive... Will never ever go here again. 12/7/2010

The experience I had today was without equal, not in a good way. Water glasses were set out dirty without a second look. The bread not particularly fresh, the olive (? yellow) oil with it was rancid. The bagged lettuce/salad had a red twist tie like from a loaf of bread in it masquerading as a red onion! The waiter picked it up nonchalantly and walked away, like maybe it wasn't the first time he's seen that. The parmesan cheese on the table looked and tasted like it belonged in a cheap pizzeria. more

OUR NEW SPOT IN AC!!! 8/23/2010

My husband and I recently tried Angelo's after a day of outlet shopping. We arrived at 5:00 right when they opened and were greetly nicely at the bar and offered a drink while we waited. We were surprised to see how crowded they got at opening but they seated everyone at once with no wait. We ABSOLUTELY loved our food and experience from the bread, appetizer, our meals and dessert!!! And the prices were so resonable!!! We would absolutely go back again. We also enjoyed the atmosphere of small dining rooms. more

I concur with last review 11/13/2009

The previous review regarding microwaved cuisine summed it up best. I would find it difficult to review this restarurant without sounding positively abusive. We must be in the minority however, since there always seems to be a two hour wait for seating. Obviously enough people like this restaurant to warrant that many customers. Pros: Salad was okay Cons: Everything else more

Angelo's Fairmount Tavern is one of the best in AC1 10/25/2009

One of the best places to eat in Atlantic City when you want to get "away' from the casino's! Family owned and operated, Angelo's has been around since I was a kid! Great Italian food, great service, great homemade wine! I highly reccomend this place! Parking is very easy to find as they have several lots near by. more

Angelos Fairmount Tavern is a Microwave Operation 7/16/2009

My girlfriend and I stopped by this well rated establishment for dinner the other evening on a trip to Atlantic City. We had planned to dine well so we ordered rock shrimp, crab linguini, and a meatball lasagna. We ordered house wine. Pros: Salad is decent Cons: Really Bad FOOD. Microwave Operation more

Our favorite for lunch 6/26/2009

We stopped for lunch about ten minutes before they stopped serving. We were treated courteously. The food was very good (we had daily specials, so did not order off the regular menu). The prices were very fair. It has free parking. Is it the best restaurant in A.C.? Probably not, but Angelo's Fairmount Tavern is now our favorite place for lunch in Atlantic City. Pros: Excellent pasta sauce more

Good Italian Food 10/6/2008

Family owned and operated down the jersey shore. Great pasta dishes, seafood and steaks. Service is great - but not a cheap place to take the family. more

OK Italian Restaurant 9/27/2008

This place is a local legend and favorite. Gets incredibly crowded on weekends and in the summer. In all candor, I don't get why. It is okay. Good pasta. The sauce has a little too much oil for my taste. Lots of side things, like sautee'd spinach with garlic (more oil) that are good but can add up the bill in a hurry. A bar when you come in. Restaurant upstairs. Nice, but not legendary. more

excellent food,waitress with a smile,reasonable prices 2/22/2008

The worst Atlantic City Experience YET! 5/6/2007

Other than the food being poor, the service was poor. Oh yea, if you have a group, be sure it's less than eight people, because they have no square tables there either. Even though sitting in a figure 8 is interesting, it doesn't go well with larger groups that are trying to connect or converse with each other. Pros: I t was close to our Hotel Cons: Everythiing else more

Excellent Food at reasonable prices 8/24/2006

The food was delicious, and the people were very friendly. We had excellent service. We visited on a Monday night, and although the dining room was mostly full, we did not have to wait. The atmosphere brings to mind old itailian. You walked through a closed door to get to the dining room. It was almost secretive. The portions were very large, and we realized that the four of us could have easily ordered just two meals and been stuffed. We each left almost half of our food and since we were staying in a motel, couldn't take it in a doggy bag. The prices were reasonable for the portions you receive. Pros: Ambience, Food, Portions Cons: too much food more

Very poor customer service and unfriendly owner and waitresses. 8/17/2006

I made a special trip back to Atlantic City just to go to Angelo's during the week of August 7, 2006. I always went in there as a small child with my parents. I was very disappointed. I thought that the food was mediocre at best. Also, I had placed a phone call to Mr. Mancuso, the owner, two weeks before my trip. I told him I would say "Hello" to him when I came into the restaurant. When I did go in on August 10, 2006 for lunch I asked the waitress if I could speak with him. Her manner was very short and abrupt and she told me that she was "very busy". I then saw Mr. Mancuso walk by. I stopped him and told him about my phone call to him. He said to me 'I didn't get the message'. I also told him that I thought the waitress was not very nice. He replied that the area in which I was seated was closed off and that I should not have been seated there in the first place. (I was totally unaware of this). I then told him that I spoke with him personally on the phone and that I remembered him from going in with my parents some 40 years ago. He acted like I was bothering him and said to me 'Well , that was a long time ago, young lady', and walked away. I was very surprised. A few minutes later, the waitress stopped by and told me that Mr. Mancuso was not in. I told her that I had just spoke with him. She then said that she guessed she was mistaken. I was very hurt by this incident, especially since I had made a special trip to Atlantic City from my home in Arizona, to visit this restaurant. I would never go in there again!!! Pros: Memories of old Atlantic City and the surrounding neighborhood. Cons: Loud racket; very noisy; hard to get a parking space. more

Why held in such high regard? 2/11/2006

Angelo's is popular and has banquet rooms, so it was recommended we dine there and consider the restaurant for a party. For starters, the banquet manager cannot be reached except by leaving a voicemail or email. Eventually, she contacts you, but hurriedly and without all questions answered. That said we had dinner. The food was terrific, and reasonably priced with generous portions. You'll have a doggy bag. Skip the calamari rings. Tasty, but "onion" rings isn't what we planned on. The personnel, however, was bottom end of what you typically get in Atlantic City. Mostly unfriendly, uncourteous staff with a few exceptions. In a city loaded with quality dining options, why settle for a place that is probably getting by on past reputation, while likely waiting for a table for a while in a crowded, smoky bar? Accordingly, we won't be going back, and we took our party elsewhere. Pros: Reasonable, Nice Portions, Tasty Cons: Inadequate service, Crowded wait area, Unattentive more

What is the big deal? 10/11/2005

I went to Angelo's after many of my co-workers recommended it. They said it was the best food in AC. The wait for a table was long and it was hard to breate with the cigarette smoke. Also the food wasn't that great. My friend who is a die hard italien was definatly not impressed. Her meatballs were cold in the middle and were made with filler. I don't think I would go there again, it wasn't worth the effort. more

Old Fashion Feeling 6/6/2005

What a great place. when you pull up you have a carwatcher as my kids described, which is great. Then we walked into an old fashion bar area which I just fell in love with and the bartenders were just great (3 men and 1 women-very nice and personable- who all have just great personalities) They made us feel right at home and then we were called to dinner by the bartender yelling our name. We sat in just the right room, I call it the sports room, which was perfect for my kids. The food was great and filling and the children even eat all of their dinner without even pushing them. I will always go back to Angelo's, it it a great family spot but also a great place for two, which I will be doing next time with my better half. Highly Highly recommended. Pros: Clean, Friendly, Great food Cons: None more
