Fantastic..Andora South 10/31/2010

My husband and I went to the new Andora (South Hills)on Saturday night and were blown away! First off, the bar could possibly be the best spot to grab a bite and watch a Pens/Steelers game in the city....hands down.\r \r Second, we had dinner which included the sping roll appetizer (outstanding) followed by crabcake and chicken entres that did not disappoint. \r \r We had been customers of the original Andora (Mt. Nebo) and were very curious about this new location. We will be headed back with friends soon. more

Perfect! 10/13/2010

My husband and I had dinner here for our anniversary and everything was spectacular from the service to the food quality to the atmosphere. We had the crab cake and the scallop entrees and they were both superb! The crab cake was not a lot of filling like most crab cakes we seem to get around here. We sat outside on the patio area- you would never know there was a busy road just out front. The patio was quiet and so picturesque. What a wonderful evening, we can't wait to go back! I highly recommend Andora to anyone looking for a perfect night out. more

Service a definite plus 3/13/2009

I had dinner at this restaurant the other night, and it was by far one of the best meals that I had in a long while. The twenty for twenty is great!!!!!!The wines are actually not that bad for that price.I would recommend the grilled salmon or the crab cakes both which were divine!!!Our server a cute little blonde, Jennifer was one of the best servers that my wife and I have come across, she was Very efficient well groomed and knew tee answers to ALL of our questions.I would highly recommend asking for her if you are going to head to this review. Pros: Best salmon ever Cons: nothing more

If you're looking for a drab culinary experience, this is your place 11/18/2008

Not much has changed at this dining establishment. It was painfully average when it opened and unfortunately remains painfully average. The menu has remained relatively unchanged for the last decade which was obviously disappointing upon revisiting the restaurant at a friends request. The decor is reminiscent of a Ramada Inn banquet hall. The food lacks creativity and depth as is the same with the wine list. I was hoping that the menu would have evolved with all of the exciting culinary changes in Pittsburgh, but it was not the case. more

Recession Proof 9/26/2008

The economy's down, gas prices are high and people are tight with their money. You wouldn't realize it at Andora. We had dinner their on a Tuesday night and the place was jam-packed. Surprisingly, we had to wait for a table. The manager/host suggested we go to bar for a cocktail. The bar was full to capacity. Despite being overwhelmed with request, the bartenders were prompt and exceptionally friendly. After about a 20 minute wait, we were escorted to our table located in a stunning garden setting. This has to be the greatest outdoor dining atmosphere in the city. The food was tremendous and our server was extremely pleasurable and professional. This is one place I will highly recommend. Pros: Staff more

Why is this place seeminglt popular? 6/13/2008

Most times when we drive by the Andora, the parking lot is full. At least, that was the case before $4.00/gallon gasoline. But truthfully, why this restaurant draws crowds is a mystery? The food is average. The ambiance is average. The staff is average. The restaurant, sitting in the shawows of the grand mansions of captains of industry, certainly isn't surrounded by mediocrity. But that's what the Andora is about. Mediocrity. Nothing so bad that you want to leave. Nothing so good that you want to stay. Pros: No surprises Cons: No surprises more

Disappointed 2/25/2007

First time experience at Andorra; won't go back. Despite multiple open tables in the dining room, sat in a cramped two top in a corner, one table removed from an obnoxiously loud birthday party of 30 somethings including one outstanding individual who once shouted something to the effect of we can call h**kers, just like in college. I know a restaurant cannot necessarily control its guests, but no one, not the manager, hostess, server.... apologized or even offered to move our table at any point. In fact, I waited a good five minutes at the hostess stand on the way out, waiting for my fiance in the restroom, and the only person who said anything to us on the way out were the busboys. Otherwise, the service was adequate. The wine was far too chilled; apparently all whites were kept in the refrigerator prior to service so that two different chardonnays were ice cold upon presentation. The highlight of the food was a zucchini appetizer that was unique and flavorful; everything else was pedestrian in its presentation and flavors. I appreciate that a restaurant should cater to the tastes of its customers, but Andorra failed in every respect to meet our expectations or come even close to any fine dining restaurant within the immediate area of the city. more

Too Close For Comfort 11/19/2006

Our hostess took our name, we were asked to wait in the bar to have a drink, that ""our table would be ready in 30min"". At the bar, an infant w/two couples were there. Old-fashioned? This is no place for a baby! What were the owners of Andora thinking????\r Once we sat down, it was too close for comfort ? we had no choice but to hear the next table arguing-2 elderly men and a woman. Everything from,""I'm going to beat the __ out of you when I get home"" & ""I'll dump you in the trunk"". This was inexcusable. Our dinner was good, our server was great. I had salmon w/crabmeat. My boyfriend had the ""surf and turf"".\r But, when once home, I got sick from the food. I was sick for 2 days! Pros: Food is good Cons: No babies in the bar please! more

Love the Bartender 4/12/2006

I highly recommend this restaurant. the food is excellent, the wait staff is the best. When you go ther ask for Pietreo(the best waiter ever). When you sit at the bar NICK the bartender is the BEST. Good looking too. Stella more

My favorite restaurant 8/6/2003

Best crab cakes in the tri-state area. Maryland has some serious competition! Pros: great food, great wait staff, variety more

A great time and great food 6/30/2003

I would like you to know me and my friends had a great time a Andora. From the food, waiter and manager. It was one of the nice day that we had over the past two weeks and we were on the deck. I had the crab cakes. Sue had the black bass. and Joan had a pasta and chicken dish. Thank you to all. We will be back. Maryanne Hanson more

Wonderful! 8/26/2002

Food is delicious. Specials change frequently. Always something new and different. Service is wonderful. Ambience is nice indoors. Weather permitting, I like to sit outdoors on the patio. This is one of the best kept secrets in the North Hills. more
