Never again - worse place to see a show 11/4/2011

I was there for Regis Philbin - I will never come to this place again. The setup was terrible. We were stuffed in the room like sardines. Then, the line to get out was congested, crowded, dangerous. The valets were the rudest bunch of people I have ever met. You would think that we were trying to steal the Hope Diamond -we were dropped off and my driver pulled around to let us out and they came running over like he was going to park. \r The prices for food was also outrageous! Never again. I am surprised the fire department has not received calls about the way they have everyone crowded in there - especially when trying to get cars from the valet - which is mandatory.\r \r Stay away from this place... more

Mandatory valet - but you still have to talk quite a bit 11/14/2009

I've only been there a couple of times. This last time went for a party at their banquet facility. I was stopped (literally, one of the valet guys got in front of my car) by the valet people at the front of the restaurant. I did get out and give them their keys and they told me the banquet entrance was way down from where I was standing. If I would've parked the car myself, I would've been CLOSER to the entrance! Yes, it was $4 for the valet - but this distance thing defeats the purpose of valet parking, in my opinion.\r \r Food was OK (buffet style). Chicken was nice and soft, pasta wasn't bad but the portobello were a bit too rubbery. Pros: Food was decent - nothing special though more

Extremely overrated 2/4/2009

Ok, so I first visited this restaraunt just the other night. I had high expectations. My expectations were not met. I am a serious Italian food lover and have been to some of the best places around. This is not one of those places. First of all, I found out that the head chef is 26 years old and has no formal training, he worked his way up from being a bus boy. That explains the food. I ordered the chicken soup and was informed that chicken is not actually in the soup. Ok, so I still tried it. It was so tasteless and bland. It was a few little shells and some broth. YUCK. Then I had my main dish, which was chicken with prosciutto and fontina cheese. The chicken was tough and rubbery, the proscuitto tasteless, and the cheese, which I believe was mozzarella, not fontina, was gelled and mushy. I think it was a piece of mozzarella sliced from the grocery store. We then got the cream puff dessert. The cream puff was rock solid. Never in my life have I had a rock hard cream puff. I had to literally cut it with a knife. This place was on par with Olive Garden, and that is NOT a good thing.\r \r Despite the atrocious food, the waitstaff and employees were incredibly friendly. \r \r I hear that their other locations are better, maybe I'll try one of those. Pros: Nice staff Cons: The food is horrible. more

excellent flavors 9/14/2008

I really like Andiamos, for the pure and simple fact: their food is exellent. Though I find their portions a bit too small for the pricetag, if you ask for a refill on your breadbasket, you might actually be full after an appetizer and your meal.\r This is the closest to real Italian food I have tasted in the Detroit area.\r Yes, there will be a wait on the weekend, yes, they are not cheap, yes, the service could be friendlier and faster, but the taste of the food makes up for it. Pros: the food Cons: wait to be seated, not all tables are comfortable more

Excellent service, fine dining, real italian! 8/5/2006

This restaurant, advertises its supreme italian cooking, and it's no lie. A beautiful ambience accompanies a fine menu, with excellent selections of pastas, veal, and various poultry. The seafood is excellent also. Great for a romantic date, or small group gathering. Pros: Excellent service and food. Try the filet with zip! Cons: Main dining room is a bit crowded. more

Don't Believe the Hype!!! 5/18/2006

If you go to Andiamo's be sure to bring low expectations so your not disappointed. The food is consistently cold, slow/poor service, overpriced, and lacking in the food quality you would expect for an uplevel Italian Restaraunt. Even though it is extremely overpriced, the protions are undersized. The menu options are generated by amateurs which explains why they would use a completely overpowering sauce on a Fillet or veal to mask the flavor of the meat. You will still probably leave hungary which is against all Italian tradition. Poor parking. Andiamo's offers no reason to visit. Cons: Amateurs, Cold Food, Poor Service more

Thank You Andiamo's 3/11/2004

Andiamo Italia has brought back to Detroit the excellence of fine dining I could only enjoy in downtown Detroit 40 years ago. They link fine dining with great entertainment at a cost that is a real bargain. Downtown Detroit could take a lesson from Andiamo's if they are sincere in bringing back an atmosphere that attracts conventioneers. Cudo's to Joe and the entire Andiamo Team. Pros: Everything more

Very Nice 7/5/2003

Consistant food quality and service is excellent. Outstanding place for lunch and entertainment on weekday's in the bar is a plus. Great for people watching at times... Great for throwing small or large parties in the front or the back.. Pros: consistant food, good value, friendly Cons: location/traffic more

Pros: great food, parking, excellent desserts more

Over rated 1/13/2003

I have had better Italian food for a less price at many many restaurants. Too spicy and Too pricy. more

Why Stop 1/12/2003

To anyone who would rather go to the Olive Garden rather than Andiamos, why stop there? Why not just go to Fazolis. You will save some money and enjoy food that tastes about the same. Andiamos is a great Italian restaurant and you pretty much pay for what you get. The decor is nice and makes you feel comfortable. I would suggest Andiamos to anyone who truly enjoys eating at an Italian restaurant. more

Delicious. Tantalizing. Fresh ingredients. Andiamo has all of the above. Unique and original italian dishes and it qualifies as a romantic spot as well. There is often a live jazz band in on the weekends and the ambience is great. Can't wait to go back and try a few more dishes. more

Best Italian 8/14/2002

I have eaten Aldo's cooking for more years than I care to admit. It is always fresh and very good. more
