Thank you Dr. Choi! 9/2/2011

Our dog Rico was diagnosed with bladder stone by another doctor close to our area, but when I got the quote for the surgery I wanted to get another opinion and quote from another Vet. Doctor Choi was highly recommended by a close friend of my husband. We called him up and asked him over the phone what he thinks about the other Vet?s diagnosis, he explained it very well and we were so comfortable with him that we scheduled Rico for his exam then surgery. The travel from Glendale to Anaheim with traffic was well worth it! Dr Choi was very accommodating, he has a very friendly staff (hi Janet & Cecilia), very reasonable price and he's very thorough with explanations and even his wife was very nice too! Just to mention that he was a couple of hundreds lower than the 4 other quotes I got. Nothing but the best service experience, we couldn?t be more satisfied. And by the way Rico loves them too! more

Not grandiose, but a good clinic. 8/27/2011

My family and I have been bringing our pets to A.A.H for years now. Two summers ago our dog of 18 years was in poor condition and throughout his treatment and up to his inevitable passing, Dr. Choi did what he could to make the procedure as painless for our dog and us as possible. When it was time to put him down, he allowed everyone to stand by our dog's side, the kids as well, and say goodbye one last time. He let me stay behind once my family had left and even shut the door so I could give my dog a final word and parting hug in privacy. It was touching, really. \r He is a great vet with an honest love for animals, we haven't been dissatisfied with him or the service provided by the staff at A.A.H. \r If you're having money issues, he's lenient. He'll work out a payment plan and has even lowered the prices at times (we recently had our 6 year old GSD neutered here as well). The clinic is nothing world class. It's a small but quaint little thing and definitely nothing bad. Dr. Choi is, more

I absolutely love Dr. Choi 8/23/2011

Dr. Choi at Anchor Animal Hospital is the best. I do not understand all the negative reviews. He is easy to understand, is extremely funny, and is very caring of his animal patients as well as their owners. I absolutely love Dr. Choi and his staff. The office is very clean and is now located at 1131 W. Lincoln Ave. in Anaheim. If you want your pets to be treated like one of the family when they are sick, take them to Anchor. And for those of you who think he's only about the money, then you must not think your pet is worth it. Remember... You get what you pay for. more

Best Cat Vet In SoCal 8/20/2011

Dr. Choi is an amazing vet. My cat had been exhibiting symptoms of kidney failure for years (rectal bleeding, vomiting, over hydrating) and no other vets were ever able to identify the problem (I didn't know that's what the symptoms were until I met Dr. Choi). I had taken my cat to him before to get a check up because I had to bring him on the airplane, and decided to try him again after his symptoms began to worsen. After just feeling around under my cat's belly, Dr. Choi suggested that I get blood run because he could feel that his kidneys were misshaped. He took the blood and the results came back that my cat had chronic renal failure. I was heartbroken, but Dr. Choi assured me that a change of diet could prolong his life. That was over 3 years before my cat died. I did a lot of research online, and a lot of cats don't get diagnosed early enough, so by the time they are are, it is too late and they only live a short time longer. Dr. Choi continued to be my cat's doctor throughout th more

Great animal care 8/19/2011

I take my cats and dogs to Dr. Choi. He is a great diagnostician. He has helped the community by providing care to homeless and ill animals. I have a cat that lived to 22 years under his care. His staff are compassionate and well trained. I also find the prices reasonable. more

Great Experience for 11+ Years 8/18/2011

I have been going to Anchor Animal Hospital for over 11 years now. Dr. Choi and his staff are always very friendly and I have never run into any problems here. Dr. Choi recommends the best options for my pets but also lets me know about the other available options. When I have questions, he takes the time to explain everything to me. The prices are reasonable, especially since I know how much the doctor and his staff care for the animals. I would not go anywhere else for my pets! Thank you Dr. Choi and his staff!! more

AAH over 20 years 8/10/2011

I have been taking my dogs and cats to Dr. Choi for over 20 years. He is everything I would expect from a DVM. Dr Choi will give you options as a pet owner. He will explain if asked in an understandable way. Its your choice to take any path you choose. I am glad he gives me options. I have been to other DVMs who don't. The one-option approach is more expensive. I appreciate Dr. Choi's honesty and straight-forward approach. more

Be aware of this hospital! 3/26/2011

No one will print my review. I tried to put it on Yellowbot and it wouldnt go through. I took my dog to Anchor animal hospital today. My dog was wagging her tail and eating yesterday. I noticed she was breathing heavy and not wanting to eat today. I was worried. I took her to Anchor animal hospital. The doctor told me right away he suspected congestive heart failure. So did I. Usually a water pill and steroid will prolong the life of a dog that has this and make them more comfortablel. The doctor tried hard to talk me into expensive tests. I settled for meds only. He comes out with this big needle and starts putting in my 6 pound dog and tells me that it is "heart medicine". The receptionist told me it was an antibiotic. Which was it? My dogs heart raced really fast after the shot for two hours and it killed her. He also kept calling her "guy" when he talked about her even after I told him she was a girl dog. He was cold. I came racing back to the hospital after she died in the car on more

Dr.Choi JUST wants to MAKE MONEY,is LOUD and is REALLY RUDE. 3/2/2011

Dr.Choi JUST wants to MAKE MONEY,is LOUD and is REALLY RUDE. Took my mini poodle for a check up do to a rash. The docter came in picking his nose (nasty! ) looked at my dog not even checking him and said i needed to do x ray , blood test, thyroid test, parisite test, shots, medicated bath and another test that i can not remember at the moment. When i ask if all was necessary. He seemed bothered and walked out the room. Minutes later his assistant came in and gave me the total price. She was polite. Everything was around $600 .So i did everything. He said he would call me the next day for the results. He never did. I had to call them the following day. He said everything was fine. only problem was my dog still had a rash. He said to come back in two weeks for a re check. That was already coverd in the bill. So i did. My dog still had the rash. He wanted to do more test more blood and who knows what other unessasery test. That was going to be another $500. Money is no problem to me but o more

For 14+ years I have loved Dr. Choi 12/24/2010

I love Anchor Animal Hospital!!! I have been taking my dogs to Dr Choi for over 14 years. I also took my sick dog to another place. They wanted to charge me $1500 for tests. I picked up my sick dog and left. I brought her to Dr. Choi and he diagnosed her, did surgery, housed her for 5 days and ended up putting her to sleep for under $500. I was able to sit with her any time of the day. His office is like a home and I have been welcomed to walk through any part of it. True, his office staff is not overly friendly, but I don't care. For the last 7 years I have lived in over 40 minutes away and I still take my dogs to him. I have tried other places for the routine shots, but have not found a better place than Anchor Animal Hospital. more

The good and the not so good 11/27/2010

I'm writing only to give another opinion to the discussion. I first took our cat to the Cat Care Clinic in orange because I wanted the best of everything and was willing to pay for it...when it happened she had to be put to sleep, my boyfriend insisted that we do it at Anchor, because he loves Dr. Choi. I resisted because of the reviews on here.\r The not so good: His vet tech wasn't anything special, didn't have the best manners, but wasn't a bad person. His office didn't pamper me at all. \r The good: Overall, I really like Choi now... Dr. Choi loves animals, but he is a simple and direct guy. After looking at the xrays from the Cat Care Clinic, who said it might be some obscure disease, he diagnosed that maybe our cat fell or was stepped on and was injured internally. And yes, she did get stepped on right when symptoms started. The first vet didn't come to that conclusion and wanted to run expensive tests to find the cause.\r My boyfriend says he brilliant, and loves cats. He has an ea more

not a happy visit to AAH 5/24/2010

Really clean hospital/exam rooms. Friendly and caring staff but the Dr.Choi was really impatient, hard to understand and loud. I went in for a physical and boosters for my new cat. all he did was pat my cat on the head and say, "he looks good" and then asked the tecnicians to give the shots and he left into his office? Nice physical exam!!! also he came into the room picking his nose >:-( remember to never shake his hand! more

Worst Place Everrrrrrrrrrr! 4/6/2010

Most of the people here are right if you would like to waste lots of money be my guest and go to Anchor Animal Hospital. I was one of his employee that just happen to disagree with the way he made people waste money, he would make me recommend things that the animals didn't need just to make some money, and he would yell at me for disagreeing with him and not telling his customer's. It is also very true that the people he hires have no experience at all I should know I was one of them, so I hope this info is helpful to some :) more

Anchor Animal Hospital is unprofessonal and expensive 7/5/2009

the staff is super rude he charged me 60 for 5 in one shots and i went somewhere else charged $8.00 he barley pays attention to your dog..hes obviously a cat lover only. His staff gave my dog a shot and they are so ghetto that the girl curved the needle and made my puppy cry and sore for a week. Then she apologized and did it again i asked if they were vet technicians and they said no they're only receptionists, soooo unprofessional. Hes okay i think he should be a cat vet only i guess. Oh and he kept making me come back for shots she didn't need and i went to other vet offices and asked and they all agreed that all the shoots were not necessary, only the standard. more

Good Place For Us 9/27/2008

Hello, \r \r After having multiple horrible experiences at BANFIELD and the \r "Wellness Plan" that we signed up for 5 animals. Dr Choi, and his team are a breath of fresh air.\r \r Short story is that one of our cats needed abdominal surgery rather than a traditional neuter because one of his testicles never descended. BANFIELD wanted an additional 286.00 to perform this procedure. Mind you this is additional to our monthly fee of 25.00 or so for one year/per animal. Had it been a traditional surgery there would have been no additional cost, or so they say, but there has ALWAYS been some additional fee at the end of any visit there. \r \r Dr Choi charged 260.00 for the entire operation, antibiotics and aftercare. \r \r In addition BANFIELD charges you even if the animal died before the one year contract is up as this happened to us. We are paying over 6 months for our cat who died.\r \r We take our other two dogs to Dr Choi, one a 75 pound mix from the pound and the other 16 pound dachshund. I h more

THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE 7/15/2008

I don't know where he gets his staff from but they don't know much about animals. The vet has the worst accent ever. I took my dog in to get checked for parvo because she had the symptoms and before he checked her out he said he was sure she was infected with parvo so i freaked out, turns out she was perfectly fine just had an infection. He is very unproffesional and rude. Based on comments people leave he must have mood swings because he is nice to some clients and a jerk to others. Good luck taking your animal there i hope you get him when he is in a good mood. more

Thank you Dr. Choi 7/11/2008

Dr. Choi and his staff are great! 6/13/2008

I have been going to Dr. Choi's office for the last five years and there have been no problems, whatsoever. Dr. Choi has a very cheerful personality and tries to give me the best options for my pets, and it shows. To the previous review, I have to say that some of the animals most likely bite because they are not comfortable in the hospital. Typically, the animals do not act the same because they are scared of the doctor's office, just like people. more

IF YOU WANT A VETERINARIAN THAT SUCKS GO TO ANCHOR ANIMAL HOSPITAL 5/29/2008

This place is horrible, very unprofesional, hard to understand, very rude, and to the last comment for chris k even if this so called vet is scared of dogs he needs to be profesional with his clients and just put a muzzle not act like a little girl by acting scared of these big dogs. How can clients feel he is doing his job if he is scared. Another thing dogs can sence bad people maybe thats why he has been bitten numerous times. more
