Great Indian Food 4/20/2009

I and my colleagues have been travelling from New York and Chicago to LA every week for the past few months. We make it a point to grab atleast one dinner meal at Anarbagh.\r \r The food here is delicious and growing up in New Delhi, I know what I am talking about. The great part is the hospitality offered by Zaheer and his colleagues who make us feel at home everytime we visit. We have often taken guests with us and everyone has been extremely pleased with their experience at Anarbagh. Being on the road most of the team all the members in our team have tried Indian food in US/UK/Canada/India and find Anarbagh comparable to authentic Indian food.\r \r highly recommended----You will surpised on how the staff accomodate your requests to order food and make adjustments to the menu offerings. \r \r \r Pros: Best Indian food more

Worst Indian Experience 4/10/2009

This really was the worst service that I have experienced in years. I decided to try this place out for Friday night dinner. They took our name down for a table, then they randomly picked groups to sit. They did not check their list. Everyone around became disgruntled as people who even had reservations were not seated in a timely manner. We waited over 40 minutes to be seated when we had been told 20 minutes. We thought we had experienced the worst of it but the bad service had just started. We were quickly asked what drinks we wanted, but sadly they never came. We had to ask for them when they still hadn't arrived 20 minutes later. No one seemed assigned to our table. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to take our order. The appetizers came within a respectable time. They were good, not great. But then the waiting began, we waited for an hour for our dinner to arrive. People around us were complaining, a couple even walked out before their food was served. The atmosphere was chaotic and no one seemed to know what their job was. It might have been worth it if they food was tasty. When it finally arrived it was a great disappointment. The chicken tikka masala was much too sweet, the Indian spices were completely missing. We had requested our food to be spicy but it was as bland as could be. The saag paneer was much too creamy, the cheese overcooked, it lacked spinach and once again a bland disappointment that did not resemble any sag paneer I've experienced at other much better Indian establishments. Mysteriously, we were offered one small ""complementary"" baklava, even though our dinner included desert. Over 2 1/2 hours later we had to ask for the bill three times before mercifully being allowed to leave. I would not return to this place nor would I recommend it to anybody. Cons: Service and Food more

Excellent food, great service 3/9/2009

We've tried 'em all from the westside to the valley. We've had great Indian throughout the UK. This place was terrific this past Monday night. Perfect preparation, well-spiced and very tasty. The wait staff fawned over us and the food came quickly. Better than Shalimar and Taste of India. Pros: Food and Service more

Highly Recommended 2/17/2009

I just ate here last night for the first time, and I'm a fan. I ordered chicken tikka masala or something like nan . lamb curry. It was delicious and it was the perfect portion as i don't like to waste food or styrafoam. My sister had the chana masala and she loved every bite. Indian iced tea, which is brewed with ginger and spices, is very good and it has a very interesting taste. The garlic naan and veggie samosas were very good too. \r \r Also, the people were really friendly. Pros: Thumbs up? Cons: gerat food more

Good food, bad service. 5/27/2008

Great food with loads of good spices. I'm not going back to this place due to the rude prick that overcharged me and then got mad at me for informing him that I was overcharged. He was trying to ignore me at first until he realized I was not leaving until it was settled. He slammed things down on the counter while trying to adjust the bill and the whole nice yards. Ridiculous. I know a lot of people have had great experiences here, including some of my friends but, not me. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Jealous Behavior 3/11/2008

My wife an I used to frequent Anarbagh regularly and truly enjoyed our little, almost weekly, trips to India. We have recommended Anarbagh to dozens of families and they all became regulars.\r \r I am compelled to write this review because of the way my wife and I have been treated.\r \r Since the birth of our child we haven't eaten out as much as we used to. Because it is hard to eat out with a baby and we wanted to try cooking at home to help save some money and create a nice home life for our child. On my wifes birthday we visited Anarbagh for a special night out, we even brought our baby with us. The very first thing that was said to us was ""we don't see you anymore"" so we explained, pointing out our lovely new child. We expected a giggle and that would be that but the answer apparently wasn't the right one. He repeated the question and so did all the people that waited on us. We felt uneasy and after the meal left with a foul taste in our mouths.\r \r We have visited again on occassion with friends and have received very cold and uncomfortable confrontations. We have gathered that one of the employees saw us at another Indian restaurant and apparently this is a punishable offence. They confronted us blatently with venom and made our company feel uncomfortable also.\r \r We are very hurt by this behavior and think that the United States is no place for this jealous behavior.\r \r We will never eat there again.\r \r The food is fine. It is nothing special or fancy and is bland tasting. If you want real Indian food in Woodland Hills go to India Sweets & Spices or for excellent Sri Lankan food go to The Curry Bowl. I have nothing to do with these restaurants other than I like their food. Pros: Bad Food Cons: Weird Jealousy more

Avoidable 3/3/2008

We had been to Anarbagh restaurant for dinner. I found food quality was not upto the mark. the bhindi was not even completely boiled and dal was no where near the mark. The service was slow. Even when there were not many customers, it took good 30 mins to get items. We had to ask for the items listed in standard dinner menu instead of they were offered automatically. Funny part was at 8.30 PM they said no more chappati's because they ran out of atta. Only nan was available. It was embarrasing. They missed out the desert/coffee/tea at the end. By and large it was a bad experience more

Great food - Busy on weekends 8/19/2007

I have eaten here many times. This is my first review for them. The servers are always friendly. I will admit I have had to wait on weekends, but this is not unusual for a good restaurant that does not take reservations, first come first serve. They do not have a host, some thing they might consider on weekends. I recommend eat early on weekends, or better yet eat during the week nights. Their food is the best indian food in the west valley. I highly recommend with a thumbs up from this foodie! Pros: Food is Fabulous! Cons: Long wait and no host on weekends. more

Excellent Food 6/3/2007

I'm a local who goes to eat here all the time, but I never go on the busiest times (friday/sat night) so I don't know how their service is during those times. Usually go when business is slow so I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes. And when I do go their service is good, they are friendly and try to please. I sent my friend there once with her boyfriend and she loved it, thought service was great. Parking can be difficult, they have street parking and a tiny lot around the back. Recently remodeled inside. Portions are not huge but fine for couples or small groups. Never have been disappointed with their food, one of the best Indian places in the Valley. Pros: Food more

Good food, terrible service. 1/31/2007

I've been here twice and it was some of the worst service I have ever received. They were nice enough, but the waiting was just outrageous. All in all it took over three hours for us to have lunch and we are not slow eaters!! The second time there was with a larger party of eight. It was almost 45 minutes before someone even came over to take a drink order! I have been in the restaurant business for over a decade and that is just ridiculous. They were fairly busy, but at some point the manager should come over. I mean seriously! We waited so long for the check I finally had to get up and ask for it and it was another 20 minutes before they produced it! This kind of ineptitude or lack or care seems improbable to me, but we experienced it. That being said, the food was really good. Better than Shalimar, but not better than Delhi Palace. If you are in the mood for good indian food while not in any kind of a hurry and willing to wait...and wait....and wait.....this just might be the place for you. Pros: Good food! Cons: Very, very, very bad service. more

Looooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng wait. 8/22/2006

We stood outside for 15 mins before we got our table, and they were not even acknolwdge us. It was such a bad service. If anything, the food made it better, but they had no courtsey for the people who were waiting to get a table. Pros: Good Food Cons: LONG WAIT, NO COURTSEY more

You get it all 8/7/2006

Having lived in the UK for several years they have, if nothing else, great indian reataurant.\r Finding a good one here was becoming tiresome. Alas low and behold Anarbagh! Pros: Food, menu, ambience Cons: expect to wait at the weekend more
