miss diagnosed/Poor exam 5/14/2012

I took My dog to Amor. I told them he would not open his mouth, and his eye was infected. Not sure why. They examined my dog, and told me it was no big deal. He had probably got something in his eye. Which caused it to get infected. They gave me some eye drops and antibiotics. It seemed to help. After the second day, it got worse. I called them up, I described what was going on, and now his face was swelling. They said "Its no big deal sometimes it takes days for the meds to kick in." The next day it had gotten to the point my dog would not move on his own. I took him to a different vet, who examined him. They Found a chunk of wood jammed in the roof of his mouth! That was causing the infection. I could not believe that Amor did not do a thorough exam, and seemed to not be concerned. When I called them with concern. I will never go back there again! more

Dr Rick is the best 4/22/2012

Dr Rick is the best vet around. He is compassionate and caring and very informative with details regarding everything that concerned our dog Kalli. She was a rescue and has had many health issues over the years which have been very expensive and time consuming but we made the commitment when we took her home to care for her. She is a member of our family. We moved to Florida and so nervous about trying to find a new vet here as we know Dr Rick has set the bar very high with us. Our dog is near the point of having to be put to sleep and we so wish that we were in Utah to have it done at Amor as we know much they care for their patients. We love Amor! 7/7/2011

We have been to a lot of vets over the years. As owners of 3 dogs who have all had significant health problems, we are so happy to have found such a great and caring clinic and hospital for our furry kids. Dr. Sickelsmith is probably the best vet we've ever been to. He is so sweet, warm, and caring with all of our dogs and always takes time to explain everything to us and answer questions. He takes top-notch care of us and our dogs and we absolutely love him and the staff there. The prices are very reasonable and the care is excellent! Amor is highly recommended! more

Best Vet Care Around! 8/8/2010

Amor Animal Hospital is by far the best around. When I moved to West Jordan in 1988, I needed a Vet close to our home. I chose Amor and Dr. Corey Nebeker. Over the years I have tried a few others, but always return to Amor. Currently I own 2 cats, both males, and one is 7 and the other 11 years of age. They see Corey if available, or they have been seen by his associate, Dr. Rick Sicklesmith. I love Dr. Sicklesmith as he returns findings and comments by email to you. Overall, I rate this business a 5 star. Yes, it costs a little more for everything here, but the staff is outstanding, and the doctors impeccable. more

Great service 5/20/2010

If you're willing to pay for it, you'll get very good service from Amor Animal Hospital. The staff is professional and friendly, and the doctors are very kind. I've dealt with several doctors, nurses, and receptionists at AAH over the years and have never had a negative experience. I'd only say to just request the pricing for certain procedures in advance so you don't experience sticker shock. Pros: Very competent and professional care Cons: Very expensive more

Amor Animal Hospital is great, especially if you have exotic pets - basically anything that is not a cat or dog. Dr. Nebeker has wonderful expertise in treating all species of pets. I have less experience with Dr. Sicklesmith but the times I did see him were great as well. I highly recommend Amor for vet care, grooming, anything really when it comes to you pets. more

DR. Sickelsmith is amazing! 11/13/2009

Love them ask for DR. Sickelsmith he is amazing and my dog is living healthy again because of his amazing skills at finding she has a condition called Addison's which most under diagnose with kidney failure. I am not sure why people complain about the bills you pay for what you get and for the vets time he has scheduled you out for if they didn?t get paid they would be working for free and I?m sure no one out there wants to work for free! more

COMMON SENSE Get your pet's vaccinations done 5/27/2008

Everyone knows that we are responsible for our pet vacciantions, including rabies. If you have your animal groomed and it bites someone bad enough to warrant a visit to the ER, the docs there are obligated by law to report the bite. If the animal is NOT up to date on the rabies vaccination the animal is euthanised and it's head removed to check for rabies. It that simple...GET YOUR CAT'S RABIES VACCINATION DONE!!! If you won't do it for the sake of the groomer, at least do it for your cat. more

An extremely good vet 4/9/2008

The cons: pricey. Yearly shots and exams for my 2 dogs came to $250, which seemed a little steep to me.\r \r The pros: Extremely friendly and professional staff who is very caring with the pets. The nurse was world class-an extremely friendly and personable guy who was excellent and highly competent. He explained everything they were going to do and gave me ample time to ask questions. He explained how long I'd have to wait and apologized multiple times for what I considered to be an entirely normal wait time. The vet was friendly and told me about several options and offered help with several things I could do to improve my dogs' health. I was very impressed with this vet and will go there again. It's difficult to give any place 5 stars, but to me, this is pretty much the best service I've ever received from a vet, and I would recommend them. more

Best Vet ever!!! 4/7/2008

I have a hard time with littlechina's remarks. We've used Amor Animal Hospital for vet care and boarding for over 5 years with our dogs, cats and parrots. Dr. Nebeker is a gem! His sons are second to none. We've even willed our parrots to one of the sons! The staff there are intelligent, compassionate and love their clients' animals as their own. To see a written remark as littlechina publicized is erroneous, hurtful and a bit blown out of proportion. Maybe LC misunderstood. I understand an animal being family and when they hurt, so do we. It's easy to misunderstand or hear what we want to hear in a situation like that. Dr. N. is a great teacher, gave us countless tidbits to help care for our pets at home and never hesitates to answer phone calls, be available or have someone available for out pet emergencies at any hour of the day. I am only sorry that we moved out of state. I don't think we'll ever find a vet or a vet clinic as wonderful as they are. Pros: Compassionate, knowledgeable care Cons: a little pricey, but when you offer the best you have to expect to pay a little more more

Wonderful Place 11/25/2007

I have looked for a good vet for many year. About 2 years ago i was refered to Amor Animal Hospital. I was vary impresed with the loving feeling i got from all the staff. This was not only from the front desk but also from vets, vet techs, boardings staff, and groomers. I have been having my dogs groomed once a month, every month for those 2 years and have never had a reason not to trust my dogs with the groomers or any other staff. I hope that if you are looking for a good groomer look no more. Also make sure that your dogs are up on all his/her shots they do ask that they have them. All in all i will never take my pets anywhere else. Pros: They love my pets as much as I do! more

best vet place ever! 9/6/2007

I have two dogs and they are both been sick for many years. I have been to many different vet clinics, ie( animal crackers, willow creek). I had by far the best service from Amor Animal Hospital. I had to leave my dogs for a week while I went out of town. Their boarding staff was very friendly and informative. They took me back and gave me a tour and a run-down of their daily routine. Their facility is very clean and SMELLS GOOD. I have been to many boarding facilities ( due to the nature of my job) and haven't seen a nicer boarding place. Pros: Nice staff, informative, great boarding Cons: none more

Poor Poor Treatment! 8/27/2007

My very first experience with Amor was last week when I took my cat in for a grooming. I have never had a pet groomed before and had no experience. I was told my cat could not be groomed because he was not up to date on his rabies vaccination. This made sense...the liabilities and all. more

apathetic. 6/28/2007

We used to love this place. My collie just got groomed, and something happened to him while he was there, b/c when we took him home he couldn't walk. Mind you they didn't call us all day despite our dog being in pain. The vet wouldn't see him either. Another vet in West Jordan took him right in. After many attempts we had to put our dog down. Amor didn't care our dog was in pain they wouldn't "have time for the vet to see him" for two more days. Our dog had to be carried out of the vet, when earlier that day he went skipping in healthily. Amor animal hospital has nothing to do with love. They are terrible, if you care about your pets take them elsewhere. Cons: they hurt our dog while he was groomed. more

Wouldnt take my pets anywhere else. 11/3/2005

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Amor. We have a cat and dog that we take to Amor. The staff at Amor is friendly, knowledgeable and responsive to us. They have reasonable prices and always are available for same-day appointments. They offer boarding, grooming and veterinary care. Take your pets you wont regret it. more
