Editorial review from Citysearch 11/17/2013

11/17 Order placed 7:10pm eating at 7:30pm. Last table in restaurant. Employees stack pizza racks in table loudly in front of us. Man sweeps dust against our table from behind. Black matt pulled up and dusted. Workers closing up at 7:30pm. Meanwhile food just delivered. It has also changed quality. Not much meat and more sauce in both the pasta dishes we order. Danna N is nasty as she pushes us to order and limited service. Underage blond boy waits on us and finally tells bald headed man in back corner we are upset with all going on. Bald headed man just gives an angry look and again faces the back corner. What a manager...not what you want!\r Have been in food biz 40 years and world traveler. Left no tip, my phone number and message that is biz is in serious trouble on the check. This business is going down and would never go to it again given the arrogant staff, pushy Danna and of all people, the bald headed manger that can not think. Do not go to this place, as it is over rated at 58% and is going to be a big let down. I bet the staff does not pass on the phone number to the owner so that I can tell him the truth about how bad the place is. If so, it is his fault for being so trusting and also so dumb. more

Just Ok. Hard to compare since no competition. 3/30/2012

We ate here after Mom & Pop's Pizza shop was driven out of buisness by this larger, more cookie cutter restrurant opened. It was nothing to shout about but when you are a buisness in Nolensville that sells food the locals don't have much of a choice in pizza unless you order from one of the chain delivery places. As pizza lovers we hope that more competition opens up so that there is more quality in a quality sort of town. more

Disappointed 7/28/2011

I had hoped that the pizza would live up to its billing, as NY style pizza, but no. Ordered a pie to go (along with salad and garlic ""rolls"")...opened the box at home...suprise!.... we had blackened pizza. Burnt blackened cheese. The ""rolls""? Bricks. Cold garlic bricks. Into the garbage they went. The salad was ok. I'm disappointed as I'd rather support a mom-n-pop place over a chain, but this missed the mark. more

Great Italian Food! 3/9/2011

We have been to Amico's at least once a week since it opened. We have tried pizza, salads, pasta dishes and all their food is great! The food is always fresh, the service is outstanding. We highly recommend this restaurant to all our friends! more

A Gem 3/7/2011

Visited Amico's for the first time today. Wow... GREAT food. Best vodka sauce I've ever had, hands down. Will definitely be back very soon! more

Hooked on Pizza 3/7/2011

I must say the food, the owners and the atmoshpere are outstanding. I always look for the one-off restaurant that has a home touch to it and Nolensville has several. Traditional Italian pie's are thin with subtle flavors to accent the pizza, we have just been spolied by main line pizza places and expect a mound of toppings. I have had the traditional cheese pizza ( the only food my kids will eat the leftovers), meatball sub and eggplant parmigiana and all have been terrific. I applaud their efforts for having just opened and creating an immediate following and also providing an Italian experience here in little ole Nolensville. Keep up the great work. more

STANDING ROOM ONLY! WORTH THE WAIT. 3/6/2011

Being from New York and my Wife from Chicago made this long awaited expose emotionally satisfying and absolutely stunning. The food is killer. We have eaten there 3 times a week and more since the opening. The owner's bend over backwards to please even when we ask for Italy's obscure dishes like carbonara, Suicide Caprese and ""Gravy"" like Mamma made. There are no restaurants with the choices on the menu and off the menu anywhere within middle Tennessee that we know about. Don't miss this artistic and authentic offering. Amicos rocks. Portions are over the top and the cost is the cheapest in town. The negative reviews are just that. Meaningless, empty and ignorant about the art of Italian cooking. It's all about love and Amicos has it! It's an experience in Nolensville. Wow. Don't miss it. more

skimpy pizza :( 3/5/2011

I must say that the last thing i can stand is a skimpy pizza unfortunately that is exactly what i received from this restaurant. When you are paying roughly 20 dollars for a pizza with minimal toppings it is quite concerning. Maybe i was naive in my assumption that italian food was of generous portion size. i think the next time i will just walk to my freezer. more

Disapointed 3/2/2011

Went to Amico's last night with some friends. We thought it might be pretty good since it's so hard to mess up Italian food. But I have to say that I agree with the posts that this place is not all that special. I mean, sure, if you don't want to take the time to make your own angle hair, then it will do, but the egg plant was overdone and the Stromboli was nasty. It might be ""authentic"" but that doesn't mean it tastes great... was very disappointed! more

FINALLY !!! A REAL AUTHENTIC ITALIAN PLACE 3/1/2011

Best place for good old pasta and sauce. great atmosphere, great staff. you can tell the owners are their making sure that the staff get it right. besides the pasta my kid had the kids pizza and she loved it. You can tell a lot of love and passion is put into their food . more

Nice Family Restaurant 3/1/2011

First off let me say I am neither family or friend but just a person that likes to take family to places with great food and service. I have been there a few times and have never had a bad experience and know others that feel the same way. I used to go to Jet's but like the food here better. People that like Pie In The Sky just have no tastebuds. more

Not Worth the Wait 2/28/2011

Went to this new pizza place the other day because a friend said they were pretty good... this friend must have never tasted NY style pizza before because this was NOT that kinda pie. It's like every other italian (little i) kinda food you find in the south. Bland, Boring, Blah... You'd be better off going to Pie in the Sky or Jet's to get some good tasting pizza, rather than wait 1/2 hour (place is super small) to eat something you can make in your own kitchen. The 5 star reviews seem to be from family members or close friends because they keep mentioning the owners... which is fishy. more

Worth The Wait 2/28/2011

I went to Amico's for the first time on 2/28 because every time I try and go on the weekend the place is busy. Monday night was busy but not like the weekend and after trying the pizza and some of my wife's ziti sicilian I understand what the buzz is about. The food is excellent and the portions were enough for us to take home. Service was right on as well. Will be back and will highly recommend to others. more

Wonderful Food and Service 2/28/2011

Went the first week with family and even while they were working out the kinks the food was still very good. Fast forward to now and the place is just wonderful. They have definitely got things all worked up which just shows in the fact that they are always busy. To even mention the other so called pizza places in the area is an insult to true Italian food lovers. Keep up the good work Mr and Mrs Amico. more

Fantastic 2/28/2011

Just ate there for the first time last night 2/28. Loved it and will be back plenty with friends and family. Have been to Pie In The Sky and Mom and Pops and there is no comparison. Pie In The Sky and Mom and Pops don't hold a candle to the quality of the food and the great atmosphere. This is the best Italian food since Uncle Gio's closed. more

Meh. 2/28/2011

It's about what you'd expect for an average pizza-sub place in the northeast. Every town in New England has a place like this. So-so food and pizza that's usually popular with the locals, but beyond that, it doesn't get much action. I tried the pizza and the chicken-parm sub. They filled me up and weren't unpleasant to eat, but were not worth mentioning to a friend. This is kind of sad, as I was hoping for real, New York style pizza to take the place of the now-defunct Uncle Gios on Nolensville Road, which served an amazing pie, but went under 2 years ago for some reason. Bricks just doesn't come close. Pie in the Sky is a close second, but Gios was really good. Amicos, is fair fare if you have a hankering for something other than Papa Johns/Dominos/Pizza Hut, and don't want to spend a few bucks more for better pizza at Pie in the Sky. more

A New Favorite Restaurant 2/27/2011

Awesome food and Service. Pizza is the way a New York Style Pie should be. Garlic Rolls actually have garlic. Service was fast and friendly. Please keep up the good work and you will have a loyal customer for along time to come. more

Awesome Food and Service 2/27/2011

I have been to Amico's on a regular basis since they have opened in January. Every time we go the place is busy but the wait is never to long and the quality of the food and service makes it worthwhile. My kids love the pizza which is the best pizza we have had in the 5 years that we have been in Tn. My wife found a favorite dish which is a combination of baked ziti and eggplant and I love the steak stromboli. The food is always served hot and fresh and the portions are always more than we can eat and always bring some home for another time. All my neighbors have raved about the place and I will tell anyone that I meet about the Wonderful experience we always have at Amico's. It is Run by 2 wonderful people that are always on hand which is a rarity that you can actually find owners working in their own places as well as walking around making sure everything is ok. I drive past Mom and Pops and pie in the sky all the time and they are never busy but everythime I drive past Amico's it is always busy so I would not worry about some of the reviews because it is definitely just a few people that don't know what real italian food is supposed to taste like. more
