Closest thing to real NY style pizza.

When I worked in the Peninsula, we used to order from Amici's from time to time, and it was just okay,...

Pricey, but the eggplant pizza is so good! 8/8/2006

Oh yum. They have a wonderful eggplant pizza that I miss so much. It is like eggplant parmigana pizza style. I wouldn't call it thin crust at all, but that might be because I'm living in St. Louis now where thin crust is THIN. It reminds me most of NY pizza. It is a special treat, not something that can be afforded very often though compared to other pizza places in the same neighbourhood. more

Going Downhill 7/14/2005

My family used to eat here all the time, but I'm starting to think that the more customers a restaurant gets, the lower their food quality becomes. Going out to Amici's doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. To me, it tastes just like any old pizza now, it's nothing special. If you want your customers to keep coming back, make the pizza you used to make, Amici's! more

Their veggie pizza is delicious! The mushrooms are marinated, the onions are carmelized and the peppers are roasted. Delicioso! more

Family Favorite 7/5/2004

Tasty thin crust pizza. Our family used to eat here all the time when it first opened. And doubtless it is still good (it is certainly still crowded), but to be honest I couldn't say for sure. Because either my parents or I have been away for San Mateo for the last six years, haven't eaten there in a long time. more

Editorial
  • In Short
A popular destination for young professionals and East Coast transplants, this pizzeria is known for its brick-oven baked, New York style pizzas. To accentuate the thin, crispy yet chewy crusts, pizzas come with less sauce and cheese than typically found on pizzas in California. Toppings include traditional options, such as pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and tomatoes. A wide array of more inventive options are also available, including clams, garlic, bacon and lemon oil.
