I really enjoy myself whenever I go to Americas. The architecture is very unique and gives you a sense of a special dining experience. The service has always been exceptional ...

My friends and I left last evening due to all the above cons. I don't believe the bartenders smiled one time and acted like they were doing us a favor. Won't go again. Also, wh...

Tip Top Tapas 12/30/2002

The food is fantastic. The churasco steaks will simply melt in your mouth. The first clue this is about to happen is when you receive a butter knife with the steak. The assortment of tapas is exceptional, and though somewhat costly when ordering the full size steaks, the feeling at the end of the meal is it was worth every penny. Also, the best apple martini's in town! I've been there several times, and it is our favorite ""special occasion"" restaurant. Pros: Taste, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Expensive more

Great Food and ambiance 12/18/2002

I think Americas is the best restaurant in Houston. The food is very flavorful and the ambiance is great more

Different is Good! 12/3/2002

The food is very different and definitely worth the visit. The atmosphere is very trendy and the desserts are absolutely divine! Try the sorbets. They are very refreshing and flavorful. Pros: trendy, great food, unique main dishes more

americas! 11/22/2002

great food, great decor, great enviornment, and friendly service. the price isn't bad either. the first time i went there was for senior homecoming 3 or 4 years ago. although we were a rather large group of high school students, they were very nice to us. i recommend making reservations, this place gets really busy. this is a place that is worth coming back to. more

Festive & reliable 11/19/2002

I've been dining regularly at America's for over eight years now and each time, it is a fantastic experience. And although one of the best martini bars in Houston makes America's a great place for happy hour, it is an even better place for dinner. I particularly recommend the calamari strips and empanadas for appetizers, the Churassco or Medallion steaks as entrees, and the tres leches for dessert. Service is usually friendly; reservations are generally easy to get; and it is a perfect place to take out-of-towners or large groups. In short, while America's is not the place for a quiet dinner, it can be a great place for a festive celebration. Pros: Festive atmosphere, Great steaks, seafood, Even better desserts more

Fantastico! 11/14/2002

Americas was by far a fantastic experience for my guests that came in from out of town! Our food and service was impeccable and the atmosphere was amazing..Truly a wonderful place to entertain. Pros: pampering service, supurb dishes, unique atmosphere Cons: pricey more

Wow! 10/30/2002

My husband and I had a weekend to ourselves and chose Americas as our restaurant. We have never been quite so impressed with a restaurant. Food was beyond delicious; service was impeccable...can not say enough about this great restaurant! Not a place to bring the kids...yeah! Pros: beautiful, romantic, delicious more

Most fun I've had at a $200 restaurant! 9/10/2002

Went there with my wife and my brother. We had a lot of fun. The decor is incredible and the atmosphere is light - NOT stuffy like other fine dining restaurants. The food was wonderful and the service was good. Pros: Nice decor, lively atmosphere, great food Cons: Expensive more

Enjoyable evening 8/28/2002

I've been to Americas several times and always had an enjoyable evening. Each time the servers were professional and attentive and the food was wonderful. I don't cook, so I eat out virtually every meal. One thing I have learned is: you aren't married to your waitperson. If you have concerns about anything, call the manager over and demand either to be assigned another waiter or to be moved to another waiter's area. Do this early before your evening is ruined. Just be sure not to vent your frustration on the second waiter -- dealing with that is the manager's job. P.S.: I've NEVER had to do this at Americas! Pros: Great food, Great service, Very interesting deco Cons: Pricey more

Excellent fish, dessert, and service 8/26/2002

I've lived in Houston for almost 2 years now, and I've heard many great things about Americas. My husband and I went for the first time this past weekend, and the atmosphere is really fun. The service is excellent as well. The Amazon corn-crusted red snapper is fantastic, and the tres leches dessert is the best I've ever had in Houston. My husband had the beef tenderloin and basically stopped talking until he was finished. Yes, it is that good. Americas is not too expensive either, considering the portions you get. Great place to go for a nice evening out. Pros: service, food, free parking garage more

The Best! 8/19/2002

My husband and I went to America's to celebrate a belated Valentine's dinner. The food was incredible and the service superb. It is now at the top of our list for favorite South American cuisine. Pros: food, service, ambience Cons: location more

loved it 8/5/2002

My fiance and I recently had dinner here with another couple and had such a good time. The service was nice and the food was great. We had great apetizers and wine. I ordered the churasco steak and my fiance had fish and lobster - we both were highly satisfied. I would definitely recommend this place to friends. thanks. more

Restaurant Connoisseur 6/28/2002

One of the best in Houston, there is no other place like this here. Good wine selection, great food, Tres Leches desert is incredible. Excellent place to take a date, you have to check out the inside of this place if you've never seen it before. Great for all occasions. more

Dining in Hell 6/24/2002

This is the place to go if you want to impress someone that you don't like. The restuaurant looks like it's permanently celebrating Day of the Dead. Be sure to check out the ironwork skeletons next to your table. Waitstaff is inattentive and food overpriced for what you get (and sometimes cold by the time it reaches your table). If you like your fellow diners, go to the sister restaurant, Churrasco's, for better food and a better overall experience. Pros: see and be seen Cons: long wait, oppressive atmosphere, over priced more

Always Great 6/20/2002

The food here is always excellent. Try the calamari for an appetizer. The swordfish is delicious! Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere Cons: Expensive more

Fabulous! 5/20/2002

The food at Americas is consistently excellent, as is the service. Although tempting, try not to fill up on the fried plantains and dipping sauces. Amazing as they are, I highly recommend the Churrasco (steak) - they will serve you almost any size you request - and the Tres Leches - definitely the best Houston has to offer. This is the perfect place for anything from a romantic dinner for two to a large corporate event. Pros: wondeful food, great service, unique menu Cons: somewhat pricey more
