Editorial review from Citysearch 10/30/2012

There was a lack of care (thoroughness, knowledge) by the doctor for my puppy, and the prices were outrageous (vaccination appointments were $100 - $200; kanine cough examination was $265). more

I truly cannot say enough good things about the staff here. They always go out of their way to make me and my dog as comfortable as possible. My dog gets stressed out very easily and the staff always takes their time with her. Thank you so much for all that you do. more

Very pleased with their services. 7/24/2011

After reading the last posters review I felt compelled to write my own. I recently moved to the Franklin area and brought my 7 month old kitten to American vet clinic and have always had a very positive experience with them. They were very up front about vaccine and surgery prices with me at each of my visits. They even gave me a printed copy of my estimate and stayed with in my budget. The staff was very helpful with going over the post op care after my cat was spayed. The staff is always very friendly and informative when I'm there and have so far been very pleased with them. I would defiantly recommend them to everyone. more

Be Careful! Watch pricing, take notes! 7/23/2011

WATCH THE PRICING!! Dr. Chughtai also does not always tell the truth... Make sure there is two people who go to see him! And take notes while you're there!!! I've been going to see Dr. Chughtai for almost 15 years, even back when he was located on 76th & rawson with my old cat for almost 10 years. Now I adopted another & have been taking him to the same Vet now on 27th & rawson. I'll admit, even when I'd take my old cat with my dad to see Dr. Chughtai for rountine and emergency treatment I thought the doctor was short and didn't show much interest. However, I had the worst experience during my last visit which I needed to share with the public. My last visit was for palliative treatment regarding allergies for my cat. I took my cat in by myself for the initial appointment at which the doctor felt it best to do blood testing to find specific allergens for further treatment. He quoted me $350 for the blood work, add'l for the sedation and overnight stay. When I came back the next day my bill was well over $600. He gave my cat steriod injections, antibiotics, and tried to upcharge for generic medicine for me to take home in the meantime. My cat had already had 2 rounds of antibiotics along with one steriod injection two months prior when his symptoms first appeared. They didn't work. That's why we decided to the do blood work... My husband and I were there to pay the bill and get our cat and we were very concerned about all the extra work. I'll admit I was livid, but my husband remained calm and asked the doctor about all the extra injections and medicine he gave our cat. We got no direct response, he never answered our question. In fact Dr. Chughtai got VERY defensive. He looked only at my husband and lied about our discussion the day before. He said he had explained everything to me then, and offered me to get a quote at the front desk multiple times which he did not! I keep diligent records of every medical visit, none of what he told my husband was the truth. My husband and I refused to pay for the extra work. He said the only way to not pay was to sign his hand-written 'refusal of treatment' consent, which we did just to pay, get our cat, and get the heck out of there. Worst part is my cat shouldn't have gotten all these things at once. He threw up a couple times coming out of the sedation, which is common since they're nauseated from sedation therapy. However, the extra meds & steriods in his body was just very unnecessary--as the doctor proved in his lack of explanation! After too many years, I'm going to another clinic. PLEASE BE CAREFUL! more

Great Staff 6/3/2011

The vet and staff here are very knowledgeable and helpful. They have much better prices than other vets in the area. more

Not as bad as some may say. 11/29/2010

they will price match online prices for heart worm, flea and tick etc. They are pushy about adding extra stuff you don't ask for. Just say no. more

STAY AWAY!!! 9/22/2010

This vet is VERY expensive compared to others I've used and the sevices are'nt as good. They will take you on short notice, but you will pay for it. I also do not care for the Dr's attitude. There are much better clinics and MUCH less expensive. more
