I received a prescription for a temporary wheelchair from my doctor. I called my insurance to verify they covered the cost, which they did, and I called American Health Care Services and they said to just come down with the prescription and they would take care of it. When I arrived before I even showed my prescription I was told that they wouldn't be able to help me because they couldn't verify my insurance over the phone. Well, they then started to get online and check the coverage, in the meantime my wife arrived with my prescription and I gave it to them and they began to hem and haw over the whole thing and then began telling me that they're ""not comfortable filling the prescription"" without any chart notes or some valid reason why I needed it. (I'm 37 and have severe arthritis in my lower back and have trouble walking) then I was told ""you should have called us"" When I told the guy we had called he asked who we talked to and we told him ""whoever the lady was that answered the phone"" and he gave a nasty look and then proceeded to take care of the other customer that came in AFTER me. I finally just asked if they were going to help me or not and the answer was No, because they needed something saying that I really did need it. I said AGAIN...""You have a prescription in your hand, what's the problem"" He said ""You should have called"" I AGAIN said that I did call, and just to give me my paperwork back., Well, I immediately called my doctor who in turn called AHCS and my Dr. said ""well after talking to me they were now more than willing to help"" HA right!! So a phone call from my Dr.....which could have been ANYONE outweighed a written prescription in hand. I told my doctor that I would not ever go back there due to the way I was treated. What a joke.
