American Granite and Stone

We went to American Granite & Stone and picked our granite out. It was our first time using them, and Rob and his wife truly run a family business. We felt like we were at home when we were doing business with them. We were very well pleased with the experience. When you're in a small town like ours, you want to do business with a family business. That is strongest point for American Granite & Stone in my mind. more

American Granite & Stone installed my countertops, a vanity top, and a tub deck in my master bathroom. It was so nice to work with this company. The design process went great. Their selection and the quality of the installation were excellent. I really like doing business with them. I would give them an A+ in everything. Just their punctuality could use a little improvement. more

American Granite & Stone was the whole package for us. All the way around, there wasn't a negative thing about our experience with them. We went to them to get new kitchen counters. We went to their showroom, and Rob was very helpful. He let me look at samples all around the shop, and he was very knowledgeable about the pros and cons for different stones. The quote we got from them was very reasonable. We got great quality at a great price. They usually give you a quote including the sink. But I wanted to get a different sink, and they were very good about working with me on that. They were easy to work with, and the quality of the product we got is great. People walk into my kitchen and say, "Oh my god, I love your counters!" The installers were great. Sometimes I'm wary of installers. One time we ended up going with a company because the sales person was really great, but it turned out the installers weren't very good. But the work American Granite & Stone did was great. We love them! They really were a pleasure to work with. They were very responsive. They had to come back and finish a little thing, which they did. Sometimes it's hard to get a company to come back once the work has finished, but they did. more

Took time off of work to meet owner (Rob) for templating and he never showed up. Tried calling showroom for two hours, no one answered. Saw him next day and he said he forgot. He was very apologetic and offered to do it right then so I agreed. Tried emailing him 4 times over the next 3 weeks and only received a reply once. Wanted to see slab before installation to check color but turned out he forgot to release from distributor. Didn't come in until day before installation was scheduled, which had to be postponed. Had installation scheduled for 9am. No sign of them by 11am. Called to find out where they were and was told they'd be at my place within the hour. Showed up 2-1/2 hours later. Sent crew of two to carry and install a 4'x7' slab. Too heavy for crew to carry up the stairs or set on cabinets so I, the customer, and the building manager had to help do both. Building manager mentioned that most companies send 3 or 4 guys. Despite coming out to double check the dimensions the day before installation (which I appreciated) the slab, which had to fit between two walls, was cut too wide. Crew had to roll out onto balcony and grind an 1/8" off each side making a huge mess in the process. Instead of a nice, straight cut I ended up with a scraggly edge. Also, in all my conversations with Rob I said I wanted the edge of the countertop to be flush with the cabinet doors. When the slab was installed it ended up 1/4" shy of the doors. How's that possible. I gave him the exact dimensions and watched him note them on his drawing. In the process of remodeling our condo we've worked with plumbers, electricians, drywall folks, etc. Everyone has shown up when they said they would. The one person that was late called ahead to let me know. Rob seems to be exempt from these courtesies. He struck me as a reasonable and easy person to work with but there's something seriously wrong over there. I highly recommend you look elsewhere. more

Placed an order in May 2012. Never received it. My contractor needed to move on so I am stuck with a wood counter top. I want my deposit back. I left voicemail and emailed Rob and no reply. Yes he is friendly but despicable in customer relations when there is a problem. Been there 2x and they were closed, not going again. Now it is the end of November 2012 and still not reimbursed. more

This was the third granite job American Granite has performed for me. Today's job, as well as the past two jobs went smoothly. When I first went to the store for this particular job I was pleased to see so many different colors of granite. Rob and Sean did a good job on the paperwork and measuring, Derrick and his crew did an excellent job installing my tops. American Granite & Stone have been wonderful! From start to finish, they have been great to work with. They walked us through the processes of staining and the difference between glosses so that we really understood them. They were extremely professional when explaining what all goes into the work. Everyone we worked with was so friendly and personable, we felt completely comfortable with everyone and totally trusted them. This company is very accommodating to their customers. For example, there was a certain slab we liked in Raleigh, and they arranged to have it shipped to their facility. They were patient and let us look at different slabs in their garage. We thought they'd get tired of us, but they never did. They were always very helpful and available to us. We especially like that they were there during the week at lunch time and are open on Saturday mornings, because both my husband and I work during the week and the only free time we have is during lunch time and on the weekends. We had them install granite onto our existing cabinets, which wasn't a great surface for them to work with. But they were always friendly and professional and wonderful to us. Our choices took a lot of time, but we feel really happy with them and are very thankful we had such a good company to work with. We truly appreciate the work they did, it's beautiful. I'm totally satisfied with American Granite & Stone! It was a custom job and I had extra things I wanted done and they did it! There were a few changes in the process but American Granite & Stone handled them! They stuck right to the quote even though I had added a few things, too. I'm a businessman so I know how to treat people. Bob and his team at American Granite & Stone are great at working with people! I first went through the loops and checked out hardwood stores. Then I look at the internet for companies to do granite counter tops in my house. I looked at American Granite & Stone's website and I talked to Rob. Rob the came over to do measurements.
