I called American Empire Garage Door Repair when my door would only go up about a foot. Ed, the owner, answered the phone immediately at 6:00 A.M. and I told him about my problem. He stated that one of the springs had probably broken and told me exactly what to do to get the door open. I made arrangements with Ed to meet him during my lunch hour to replace both springs. He installed upgraded springs at no extra charge and even lubed all of rollers and hinges because the door was squeeking very badly. Ed was vert friendly and even showed me how to tell if the right springs are installed on the door. (The door should stop half way in the middle without falling down or flying up). I asked Ed for many business cards so I can refer him to my friends and neighbors. more

I called American Empire Garage Door at 6:30 A.M. because I could not get the garage door open. I looked up and the spring was broken. Thinking I would get an answering machine but to my amazement the owner, Ed, answered the phone. I told him about my problem and he came over right away. He opened the door for me and I was able to go to work. I made an appointment for 5:30 P.M. that same day to change the broken springs. Ed did not even charge me for the first call!! I had American Empire Garage Door Repair install a 2 car garage door on my home in Irvine last week and they did an outstanding job. The installers were very neat and thoroughly cleaned the inside and outside of the door when they were done. They explained that the door would need periodic maintanence and showed me what to lubricate. The owner, Ed, was there to supervise the job and even include a heavy duty bracket which connects the door to the opener. I can't say enough about the attention to detail. This company past the mustard!!!! more
