SCARY!!!!! 6/18/2011

Be afraid! Really afraid! This is one of the worst restaurants in Baltimore, especially if you are looking for good Indian food and a nice dinning experience. The food is not edible, service is non existent and the ambiance is a rat and cockroach infested student dorm. PS-make them box up your food in front of you. Actually, caught them spitting in our leftovers while boxing them up in the kitchen. more

Wonderful! 1/2/2010

I love this place! My husband and I come to the Ambassador whenever we want to get out of the city, without having to get out of the city. The food is excellent, and the atmosphere is truly unique. In the summer, you can sit outside and look out at the beautiful gardens. My sons were not fans of Indian food until we brought them here. Now, they go crazy for anything tandoori, as the meats are grilled to perfection and seasoned with just the right amount of spice. I love this place. I highly recommend a trip if you're craving Indian food! Pros: Great food and atmosphere more

HORRIBLE FOOD AND SERVICE 6/9/2009

This is one restaurant that I would not recommend to anyone. My fiancée had decided to take me to the lunch buffet for my birthday. Upon arriving, we were informed the buffet closes at 2:30pm and our arrival time was 2pm. We were seated and as we were in the middle of eating the WORST Indian food ever, one of the staff approached us and said that they are closing the buffet and that we should fill our plates up and put them on the table. It is completely ridiculous that we are paying for an expensive buffet to eat cold food. My fiancée informed him that we would be finished in a few minutes. The waiter responded in now a loud voice saying well I told you we are closing at 2:30. My fiancée refused to tolerate this sort of behavior and requested to speak with the manager. Instead of calling the manager, he continued to argue. In the end, we ended up storming out of the restaurant and refused to pay for horrible food and dreadful service. As we got into the car, the time at that point was 2:30. Pros: ambiance Cons: Rude staff more

Brilliant food & atmosphere! 8/14/2008

I have never been disappointed when dining at the Ambassador. The Indian food is mouth watering and creative. Even the nan and all the different types of nan wow'd me. I especially enjoyed the English continental style of decorating. I felt like I was sitting in a Ralph Lauren ad with the fireplaces, wicker, zebra striped pillows, and flickering candles. The outdoor dining with the fountain, rose garden, and view of the Masonic Temple created delicious memories too. I have also enjoyed going to their Sunday brunch, but the food there is much more standard than the dinner menu. You won't regret the extra dollars you spend on the evening meal, especially at dusk! Pros: Dinner menu, service, attentiveness, eye candy patio, lovely garden Cons: Street parking - no valet more

Great Indian Food 4/21/2007

I travel quite a bit and this is the BEST Indian restaurant in the states. It is one of the best restaurants in Baltimore, but it is not for everyone. If you don't like Indian food or if you expect a american restaurant experience, please don't go because I might be there and you will annoy me.\r \r I recommend this to my business contacts who travel in from India and the UK and I have never met someone who has been disappointed.\r \r The outdoor dining and the service are very nice, but the food is incredible.\r Do try the eggplant appeitizer and the lamp chops, you will not be disappointed!!\r \r Oh, by the way - the afternoon buffet is good and obviously a lot less expensive, but not indicative of the full evening menu fare. I would strongly disregard any reviews of the buffet - perhaps you should try Cactus Willy's? Pros: Great Indian Food, it is a neat tucked away spot Cons: It is expensive for Indian Food more

Average experience 3/9/2006

We had sunday brunch-buffet in this restaurant and it was not a WOW! experience as we expected it to be after reading the revews on this place. The food tasted not any different then any other indian restaurant. The variety of dishes were very limited. The service was unattentive and indifferent. The value of the meal was realy overpriced.By the way now it's not $9.95 but $17.95. So what poeple are rawing about I don't know. Pros: ambience Cons: food, service, value more

Magnificent! 3/10/2004

This is truely a great and romantic restaurant. My boyfriend and I just dined here for his birthday and I was very impressed. We had made reservations 4 days in advance, when we got here we were seated immediately. We sat at a nice quiet corner and the wait staff was available to us without crowding us. The food was very good and we truely enjoyed ourselves. The dress code is very formal (or so they told us), jacket and tie for men. The wait staff looked very smart in their suits! The only problem is that the porch area which is where we sat was a little too noisy with no music while the inside was more cozy with some soft music in the background. Otherwise the overall experience was wonderful Pros: Good food, Professional staff, ambience Cons: , A little too noisy more
