The Ambassador Dining Room was given to me as a recommendation as an upscale restaurant. I called ahead to make reservations and also mentioned we were celebrating my parents 50th anniversary. Being of Indian ethnicity, we thought this would be a nice experience for all of our guests. I confirmed the reservation on Saturday as well. When we arrived at the restaurant, we found that our party of 11 were expected to seat at a banquet table which normally comfortably seats 8 people. We asked for better seating only to have to round tables put together. When asked about the four neighboring, empty tables to be put together, we were told they were reserved. The staff did not bother to assist us in putting the seats at the table. The "manager" told us to "help" ourselves to the other chairs otherwise we could use the garden chairs. By the end of dinner, those four tables remained empty. It also put a damper on the evening having two people at our table in the middle of the two tables and having to put their backs to the people at our tables. The service staff for the most part was EXTREMELY glum. While the food was fine, it's extremely expensive. A number of the people in our party ordered the mango lassi and when we asked that it be modified because of the very sour taste, nothing was done. Frankly, I would prefer food to be mediocre to excellent service especially for this occasion. My sister and I approached the manager who was also the bartender during that evening (may in fact be the owner as well). He was very curt and showed very little remorse for our dinner. My plan is to find the owner of the restaurant and contact him/her. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this restaurant to anyone!!!! VERY DISAPPOINTING and TOTALLY OVERRATED!!! They certainly made my family and friends feel like second class citizens that night.
