Alta Cucina

We went to dinner for Valentines. The waitress was bright, polite and perky. When we ordered tea there was no pressure for wine. We ordered the special seafood entree and the chicken Marsala. Fantastic!!!!!\r My wife is eating the seafood again tonight and we are asking for the menu. \r Perhaps those who don't appreciate the food and ambiance need to experience something other than a chain restaurant to appreciate this place. more

I went with my daughter and friends to girls night out on Friday and will never step into this place again. more

# By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/09 It's hard to judge a restaurant by just one visit, but that's all i am going to have to go on, since i am never coming back there again. We had a rehearsal dinner the night before out wedding there. There were a total of 10 of us. It all started out fairly nice. The appetizers were delicious. But it went down hill from there. We were waiting for over an hour for our entrees. We kept asking about it, and the waitress kept telling us it's coming out. Eventually, when we were ready to just walk out we started to get our food. Some of it was very good, however two of the meals were completely burned on the bottom of the plates, i am guessing from where they sat in the warmers for so long. My own meal, a special that night (grilled halibut), was completely cold and even if it was hot, it would still be nowhere close to being worth $25.00 price. it was very simple, something you could get at long john silvers. The burned plates belong to my future parents-in-law. They didn't eat anything the whole night because of it. My wife was upset and it completely ruined our evening. I highly recommend you take your business somewhere, in my opinion this place is not worth it. Pros: great appetizers Cons: took too long to get food and some of it was burned or cold more

Alta Cucina is by far the best Italian restaurant in Johnson City. Don't bother with the chain restaurants. Everything is made from scratch. We have eaten here many times and have never had a dish we didn't like. Even the free bread, served with olive oil and fresh herbs, is to die for. The owner is there almost every time we go, and has even seated us several times. We are always greeted warmly and served well. While slightly higher than some of the chain restaurants, the prices are reasonable considering the quality, quantity, and taste of the food. For truly fresh Italian food, do not waste your time anywhere else. more

This is the best Italian in the tri-cities area. Comparable to any Italian in any major city. The chicken marsala is the best I have ever had. I highly recommmend it for dates too! more

Alta Cucina is the best restaurant in Johnson City by far. I did not know such a place existed in this city mostly crowded with chain restaurants. Alta Cucina has incredible food, great wine, and good service. The bread they promptly bring out is fabulus as is the soups that I have had. Everything is made from scratch and has great flavor. The stuffed chicken is my favorite. It is also a romantic place to bring a date. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!!!!!!!!! Pros: Food, Service, Wine more

Alta Cucina is by far the best Italian Resturant that Johnson City has. I had passed by this resturant many times not thinking it would be a place I would want to eat at since it is in an old Hardee's building. I then heard a co-worker talking about it. I ask the co-worker to gp with me one day at lunch. I have been back many times. I normally try something differant on each visit. I have no complaints. Everything I have tried is wonder. Salads, entrees, the bread, desserts, the coffee. One of the other reasons that I like this place is the service. I have always had great service. It is also a romantic place believe it or not.
