Kind and Smart 3/12/2011

I have been going to Alpine with several generations of pets and absolutely love the hospital. The staff is so friendly, they always answer their phones, and they are always willing to hear our problems, no matter how small or big. There was an older female veterinarian who used to work there but has left. She, in my opinion, didn?t have the greatest beside manners. The three doctors that work there now, Dr. Tom, Dr. Ramachandran and Dr. Sartain are wonderful. I would recommend them in a heart beat! It?s an easy to get to hospital and there is parking right in front of the building. more

I recently moved to Bethesda. One of my friends had recommended Alpine Veterinary Hospital, she had been going there for years and really liked it. I must say the care was wonderful. So far, I have seen all three doctors there. They spayed my Golden and they were so good with follow up care, I was really impressed. The staff is ALWAYS so friendly and very polite. Even if I had silly questions, they would take the time to answer them. The hospital is always very clean and friendly looking. I would highly recommend this hospital to another friend. more

The best 4/28/2009

Great car, loving staff, wonderful vets. The best.\r Good location. Great "bed-side manner." Docs give good explanations, I feel confident taking my pets there.\r Friendly people. more

Great Vet and Staff 2/25/2009

We have had two older labs from rescue organizations that we had to care for in their last years. In both cases Dr. Tom worked with us to be realistic and compassionate when making final decisions about these elderly dogs. When I explained I could not afford to hospitalize one dog - he taught me how to do at home what they would be doing there allowing me to afford several more days of care that allowed me to be sure there was nothing else we could do before saying good bye to my dear dog. They were wonderful and patient as we said our last words, giving us the time we needed to let go and were so sympathetic and kind. more

Kind and knowledgeable staff 8/20/2008

We've been going to Alpine since we moved to Cabin John in 2001. Dr. Tom is very knowledgeble and has a very gentle quality. The staff is wonderful - this is not a conveyor belt clinic; very personable and you never feel like you're holding up the next appointment. Very clean - I've never had a cat yet to come home w/ fleas or a respiratory disorder (which has happened at previously used clinics). Perhaps not the most high tech, but I feel confident w/ their diagosis and opinions. more

Great Support Staff, clean and calm atmosphere 5/27/2008

The vet assistants and techs at Alpine are wonderful people, very caring and competent. It reflects well on the veterinarians that they are able to hire and retain great support staff.\r Though much of the profit in a vet practice comes from the sale of items like flea products and specialized diets, I have never felt like I was being 'sold' or pressured to buy things I don't need.\r The atmosphere is great, nobody is stressed out or yelling like I have experienced at other vets', and that translates into a calmer experience and less stress for your pet.\r Both veterinarians we have seen connect well with the animals, so we don't have a preference, but it is nice to be able to see a male or female vet as their styles are different and some pets respond better to a certain gender. more

Stay away from this place 5/21/2008

You never know what a good vet is until your animal actually gets sick not just regular check ups. We have going there for 3 years just for the regular one year check up and everything was fine. But when our dog was sick things didn't go well at all. She should have know better since it was a very serious problem our dog almost die if it wasn't because we took him to another vet. We found out later from one of our friends that the same thing happened to her. more

Great referral 10/30/2007

We were recently referred to Alpine by a number of dog owners in our neighborhood. We went for the first time yesterday and felt right at home as soon as we walked in. I would suggest them to anyone who is looking for a "top-notch" veterinarian more

Awesome Care 3/21/2007

We have been clients of Alpine for almost 5 years and have received top-notch care, both for our animals and for us! The staff is exceptionally friendly, professional, and well trained. The doctors are friendly, down to earth, and they take time with each of our animals.I have seen both Dr Sartain and Dr Tom and have received excellent care from each doctor. Their styles are very different, but the level of care is consistent. The other thing I like about Alpine is their dedication to helping rescue organizations. The hospital provides care to several organizations in the Washington, DC metro area at a reduced rate so that these organizations can continue to rescue animals and not be burdened by the cost of medical care. I know this because on several of my visits to the hospital I have talked with "foster parents" of animals in rescue. They have nothing but rave reviews about Alpine and the care that is given to the animals brought in (many times these animals have been neglected in s more

be cautious 3/5/2007

A vet there once perscribed a medication which made my cat quite ill. I told her of the disturbing side effects and she ridiculed me, saying there were no possible side effects for that medication. I called her over the course of the week because my cat was getting worse and the vet got progressively more angry and verbally abusive with me because I suspected the medication. Finally the cat was in serious distress from the medication which I later found out had been documented to often produce these side effects. She proscribed yet another medication and my can kept getting worse. She almost died but was hanging in there. The same vet got extremely angry with me because I did not want to put my animal to sleep right away, as she had previously been quite healthy and I wanted to give her more time to recover. Luckily I took my cat to another vet who changed the medication and my cat recovered very quickly, although with lingering repercussions from shock to internal organs from c more

Great vets, great people 11/29/2005

We've been going to Alpine for years. They are so "small-town" and friendly - it's as if tehy really know you and your pet. Even though we've moved away from Cabin John, we still drive in to take our furry friends to Alpine. more
