Great Horse Camp & Birthday Parties 11/11/2009

Great place to send your kid to Summer Camp for the summer. age groups are 4 - 13 and they have lots to do. Instead of being cooped up all summer in a facility of house, kid can spend summer outdoors in a big farm learning about animals, farm life, horses and horseback riding. not to mention hay rides. Is reasonably priced and affordable. Birthday parties are a blast with up to 20 kids and can book even more kids. A very safe place to be in the great out doors. Pros: Great Summer Horse Camp and Birthday Parties! Cons: gets booked up fast! Sign up early get best dates. more

Not so great 9/24/2008

As an educated horseperson of 20+ years with a background in horse neglect and abuse cases, I have to say that Alpha farm is one of the worst local barns I have seen in the area. I have stopped by often and I know people that are still involved over there. Yes, the hay loft is about to fall in on top of someone, the fencing is dangerous, there is equipment out in the fields where the horses are kept. Several horses out there are still underweight who have been there for the whole summer (if people were taking proper care of the horses they wouldnt still be) and the creek which is used for water is filthy . In fact, I know people still out there and I was told there was a child who contracted such a bad case of worms from being in the creek that they had to go to the hospital. The indoor arena has been promised to the children for several years now, and the owners mother just became ill this year. Her being ill is now just the way to get out of a promise made to boarders after he raised the boarding rates saying it was b/c they were getting the indoor. If you are at all educated about horses, and you go to the farm and watch it being run, you will see. The stalls are DISGUSTING, and filled with manure, the horses are thin, children are left to run the barn, and it is run dangerously. I say let people go out and see the place, youll see what it is like. They may be a fun place to have a party, but I wouldnt keep a horse there, or trust my children on thier horses ever again. more

Wonderful Birthday! 9/22/2008

I recently used Alpha Farm for my daughters 10th birthday party. She loved it! She and all her friends got to ride horses. Then we all went for a hay ride, great for the older folks since we could sit and ride. We used the picnic area for roasting hot dogs and marshmellows (farm provided the fire) and then opened presents. We werent rushed for time and everyone was very nice. Will have another party for my son when he's a little bigger. It was great and affordable. Pros: close, affordable, family fun more

huh 8/21/2008

ok, the reason we dont have an indoor arena is b/c the owners, wife's mom is REALLY sick, and they might have to remodel the house for her to move in w/ them!!!!!!! the indoor arena is not goin up in tht spot ur thinking of, its behind the barn, and the only reason the horses are sick or w.e is b/c of jessica bringing n her stock horses! its NOT franks fault! and the kids are 15, and there ARE adults there watching them. and thx but i know a lot more then 4 leggeds! and water? they have the WHOLE creek to drink from, and if 2,000 dollars worth of hay EACH LOAD isnt enough, then......! they have like 1,000 bales out there! some have been used obviously, but still, theres alot. tht u DONT know about, yea, it aint perfect, but name one place tht is. Pros: idk Cons: idk more

Nothings changed, its still dangerous and not safe. 8/9/2008

as of 8-1-08 Alpha has been being run by several young CHILDREN (still years away from being even 16!!)who dont know anything about proper horse care or nutrition. They are left to watch over other children with no adults to be seen during summer camp. These children are not trained for proper english riding, and shouldnt be allowed to just run free on thier horses, as most are lucky to have not broken thier necks with them doing more than they are capable of. Not to mention, horses are continually being injured due to poor fencing and barn management. The barn is soon to fall as hay is being stored on beams that are inadquate for holding such a load and are sagging and about to fall. Illness are left to run rampade around the farm, as noone has a clue how treat or care for the horses. There is no emergancy medical care kit for the horses. There seriously needs to be some adult supervision out there from someone who knows more than a horse has 4 legs. And the promise of the indoor has been going on for years, I doubt one will ever be built considering putting the money into the dirt field on a hill called the ""outdoor arena"" to make it safe is apparently too much to ask. Horse and child safety is obviously not a worry to the farm owner, only making money off poor suckers who trust it is being ran properly more

Better 5/21/2008

Alpha Farm is getting better. Every horse is required to have a stall, so there will only be allowed to have 21 horses on the property. We are getting an indoor soon too! The farm is getting updated a lot! more

Poorly ran stable 11/5/2007

Alpha farms simply neglects horses by falling to provide enough water and adequate amounts of hay. The property in overcrowded, many are under weight and have parasites and/or skin problems. more
