Never Ever Shop Here - You Will Be Sorry 10/4/2014

If you want nasty customer service (ignored, belittled, lied repeatedly to your face, put on hold for over 15 minutes), your project delayed due to deliveries that never arrive, and an owner that constantly gives you lines like, “I just don’t know what to do”, or “I don’t know what’s going on”, then Almvig’s is the place for you! I purchased on July 3rd. Supposed to be delivered on Sept. 12th. Never came. Set up new delivery date of Sept. 18th. On Sept. 17th, I called to confirm my delivery and ask for a delivery window. They put me on hold and the owner got on the phone to tell me they don’t know where my appliances are and that it’s a problem with the warehouse. On the 18th, no phone call so I go down there again. Then the owner tells me he has no idea where my appliances went and just doesn’t know what to tell me. Then says he needs to re-order all of my appliances but they should be here by Monday the 22nd. On Saturday the 20th, I go down there to confirm my delivery and make sure they were able to get everything.I talk to Scott, and ask him about the delivery and what time frame I should expect. He looks me in the eye and says, “Yes! We have your entire appliance scheduled to be delivered first thing on the 22nd, with the exception of the dishwasher. It is coming on a second truck and will be to your place in the afternoon”! I look at him and say, “Scott, I have having a hard time trusting you guys. I really want to believe that you are telling me the truth”. He says “Oh yes! It’s written right here – it’ll be there!” By noon on the 18th, no delivery. I call and ask about it. Put on hold 15 minutes. Finally Don gets on the phone and tells me that Scott had absolutely no right to tell me that the delivery was going to happen because Don hadn’t even order ordered my appliances yet!!! Are you kidding me?! They lied again right to my face and this time with a smile! On Sept. 22nd, I drove down there again and requested a full refund. Oct. 4th and still no refund on my credit card...... more

Truly disappointing 2/29/2012

We went to Almvigs on a referral looking for a specific appliance. The unit we were looking for needed to be ordered with a long lead time. They showed us an even better unit immediately available. We purchased the unit and scheduled delivery. Nightmare. Missed the delivery time ....twice on two different days. When they finally got there, two guys. One on a headset making a personal phone call and the other one texting the entire time. The really disappointing part was the response at the store when we were trying to get information. They don't answer the phone nor do they respond to a voicemail. After multiple tries and finally connecting,, the response was ... Indifference - wel'll get to you when we get to you. Not what we expected based on the referral, All in all, disappointing. more

The only place to buy appliances! 4/21/2008

Our relationship with Almvig's goes back about two years, to when we had just moved into our house. We went in and bought a refrigerator and range. One of the best things about this purchase was that they were able to order a fridge that had been discontinued, but that met our specific needs. Not only were they able to get us a hard-to-find product, but their prices were also better than other places we had looked for the same appliances. We were so happy with that experience that we let ourselves be talked into going back a couple of weeks later for a very nice range hood, and we are so glad we got that as well. More recently, we decided to move ahead with a full kitchen remodel, and of course we went back to Almvig’s for the remaining appliances we needed: dishwasher and microwave. Once again, the prices they gave us were the best we could find, and their service was as friendly as always. Nearing the end of this remodel, with our baby girl due very soon, we ran into a problem with the dishwasher – it had been damaged somehow, and was not functioning. Our contractor denied responsibility and did not want to help; we called the local authorized Kitchenaid service centers, and they could not get to us for over a week. Don at Almvig’s was the only person who seemed to want to help: he was able to send an installer to look at the dishwasher that day. And although it did could not be determined what happened to the dishwasher, he offered to replace it and have the new one installed only two days later, at no further cost to us. It is such a relief to have the dishwasher in place and working now! Since we bought our first appliances at Almvig’s, we have always recommended them to our friends and family. Now we strongly insist that they go there for everything they need. We have already told our story to several friends, and will continue to do so. We will always go back for any appliances we may need in the future. more

one stop experience 8/23/2007

We wanted to change our refrigerator but had problems with the width in our kitchen, this meant some remodeling and we were not sure about that. We went to Almvigs and the salesperson Ken agreed to come over and take a look at our kitchen, he gave some very good ideas and in the process he encouraged us to get a Wolf cooktop and we bought it from them, this has turned out to be great. After spending a few weeks deciding on what to do with the width spacing, we decided on a model which they did not carry but Ken said he could still get us the model but unfortunately the price was high compared to the other stores, Ken was honest enough to say he could not do much as they were not the dealers for it - so we thought of going somewhere else. A week later we realized that model would not work as easily as we thought in terms of kitchen remodeling and model itself did not seem that great. So we decided on a sub-zero and went back to Almvigs, Ken arranged for their contractor/installer to do the kitchen modification and install it 3 days later. They did a great job at very reasonable prices. The modification was done very nicely and now it feels like the kitchen was built with sub-zero in mind. It was a very pleasant experience and we thought we should write a review since we always read reviews before getting anything. more

Horrible customer service 5/21/2007

Almvig's may have been a great store 20 years ago, before the original owners sold the business. Now, not so much. Owner Don Sundene was insultingly apathetic about having sold us a non-functional washing machine, and never once addressed my wife directly when we went to the store to try to get any kind of resolution to our problem (having been unable to get things resolved over the phone for over a month). You'd have to pay me to go there again, and even then, I'd have to think about it. If I could give it less than one star, I would. I feel bad for the Almvig family, with their name still attached to a business they no longer have any association with. more

excellent service 2/6/2007

I went to Almvigs looking for appliances, and left with a whole kitchen!! I didn't realise they have designers on staff who can help with everything. I am so glad I went in there, my designer was able to help me with all sorts of choices that I would have been overwhelmed with. My husband and I thought we could just have our architect help us with the design, but he wouldn't have been able to provide the kind of service I got with Lacey. She steered me through the whole process and took care of everything, she worked with our contractor to ensure things were done properly, and in a timely manner. In fact, she introduced me to the contractor! All in all I am very happy with my new kitchen, and I know I couldn't have done it without Almvigs. I never had a problem getting ahold of anyone at Almvigs, I even had my designers cell phone number in case I needed to get ahold of her during days off! more

Don't go to Almvigs 8/15/2006

We bought some new kitchen appliances and had our countertops replaced. The contractor that they arranged to remove our appliances and our old countertops was not very good. The countertops weren't installed for 5 weeks (they estimated 2 weeks) and the company they used to install them made many mistakes and they even had to be removed once and recut, adding another week to our remodel. They never returned phone calls. I probably left 20 messages over the 6 week period for our salesman and only 1 was returned. I had to drive to the store in order to actually get in contact with anyone. I wouldn't recommend their store for anything unless you just want to buy an appliance and deliver and install it yourself. more

Skip Almvig's and head straight for Albert Lee 8/13/2006

We knew exactly what we wanted. Fisher & Paykel has the only stainless fridge that would fit in our kitchen and doesn't have those black textured sides. It's also a decent price - for stainless. We started off at Albert Lee and were intimidated. They don't advertise prices, and the wait for a salesperson (especially on a Saturday) can be daunting. So, we headed off to Almvig's. We're not much for shopping, and just wanted to order our fridge and go home. We set up a delivery date, and my partner took the day off of work. By 1:00 PM on the scheduled delivery date- there was no sign of our new fridge. My partner called Almvig's only to find out that the fridge was on back order and wasn't due in for another week. Apparently, the salesperson at Almvig's had no intention of calling to tell us this. She did apologize, but the damage was done. Really, how inconsiderate! We canceled our order with Almvig's, received a full refund and bought the fridge for the same price at Albert Lee. more
