Allstate wouldn't give me a quote over the phone and I'm sure glad they refused. Came in and it turns out I only needed a sensor...cheap fix! AND my car drives like new again!!

Bad Experience 6/20/2011

I have had my transmission 'repaired' by these people. They gave me one year warranty. After 3 months my car started to have trouble with shifting gears. I took it back. They did not find anything. I took it 2 more times during the warranty year. They did not find anything. I finally took it to another shop and what they told me was that my current transmission was actually taken from a scrap yard and replaced my original one. It was possible that the replaced transmission had more miles than the original. I would not recommend them to anybody. more

Great work at a fair price 11/10/2009

Expensive! 4/2/2008

I've never needed to have any major work done on my cars so this was a first. I feel like i could of had it done cheaper this is what i paid. I have a six speed Acura RSX the transmission was in bad shape. I was charged: $2000 ($1995) for parts According to the order forms the parts cost them $1200 a 60% markup. $1000 ($995) for labor @ $80 an hour = about 13 hours of labor. They included a LUK clutch kit and new motor mounts from Acura. Price he was asking for after work was done $3893. I complained because before they started the work he quoted me $3300 for rebuild and clutch we settled for total cost after tax of $3600. I did receive a 3 month warranty but ended up spending about 1/3 of what the car is worth. Pros: Nice guys Cons: Expensive paid $3600 almost $3893! more

Great Customer Service 3/10/2008

My sister called and had her car at one of those big chain auto repair ( moe &manny )but they did not work on transmissions.I called Allstate Transmissions in Richardson and they picked up her car to check it out, turns out many and moe really did not know anything about transmissions as the problem was something on the engine that caused the car not to shift gears.Allstate made the necessary repairs and she picked up the car .now she's back in the traffic,Allstate made the job of taking care of sis a little easier.Good work Allstate guys Pros: Thumbs way up!! Cons: none more

Excellent Service 3/10/2008

My mothers car was acting up again and she was told by the Dealer that she had to get a new transmission or trade the car in like it was.. My co-worker said he had a very good experience with Allstate Transmission in Richardson. I called for a price and they ask me to first bring her car in for a no-charge check(nothing to lose) so My wife dropped it off and I could not wait to hear the news so I went by to see what they were doing to her car, they tested the electronic system, road tested the car and raised it up to complete the check.I told them that's my mothers car so they showed me where it was leaking . They repaired the leak serviced the transmission and replaced 1 electric solenoid now her car works fine and we are very satisfied with the service- I did not know you were to service the transmission every year so I took my truck to these guys also,We recommend Allstate to everyone, Pros: Clean Very Good Service Cons: none more

ALLSTATE TRANSMISSION IS A TOTAL REAP OFF 3/7/2008

I took my car to allstate transmission for repair, I was told it would cost me $3000.00 to rebuild my transmission. He was going to charge me $1000.00 for non dealer parts alone. I called the dealer to find out how much they charge for parts to rebuild my transmission, the dealer gave me a quote of $600.00 for genuine parts. The dealer was going to charge a total of $1,500 for parts and labor. As you can see allstate charge 100% more than the dealer charges to fix your transmission. Allstate also charge $400-$500 for diagnostics alone. They ripped me off. I would continue to spread the word to everyone not to fall a victim scammers. Don't let those positive feedback fool you. I think they made it up themselves. This is a real customer telling you his story. Pros: thumbs down more

Great Personal Customer Service 6/15/2007

I had problems with my car and had taken it to a couple different places. No one could give me a definite answer and made me feel like I was a bother to them. I contacted Mr. Frank Black and told him my situation. During that initial phone conversation, I could tell Mr. Black was an honest man and would do everything he could to help me. I took my car to him and he was just as pleasant in person. He took the time to answer all my questions and concerns. I did not feel rushed. I felt like he genuinely cared about my situation and wanted to help me. Most importantly he was able to fix my car right in a timely manner and for a great price. I appreciate his communication throughout the whole process. It is nice to find a place in today's world that is honest and that treats people the way you want to be treated. I highly recommend Allstate Transmissions!!! Pros: Great Honest Service. Cons: I didn't experience any. more

Frank Black @ Allstate transmission is an HONEST man 2/5/2007

The clutch on my car was giving out and I had called a dozen places. Each of them were eager to sell me a new clutch anywhere between 800 and 1000 dollars. My last call was to Frank at Allstate Transmission. The first thing he told me when I described what was happening was that it was not a problem with my clutch. He was able to repair it for under 500 dollars! He also absorbed half of the cost of towing, and when the tow came out to less than he expected, he even passed on that savings to me! Honesty and good work in the auto repair industry is a rare thing to find. Now when anyone asks me about garages or mechanics I tell them to take it to Frank Black at Allstate Trasnsmission in Richardson! Pros: honesty more

finally an honest mechanic 10/24/2006

I had taken my truck to a different transmission shop for repairs and after $1600.00 plus dollars it still didn't work right. I took it back 4 different times only to hear them give one excuse after another. Eventually the warranty ran out and guess what? then they could all of a sudden fix it for another $1600.00 or so dollars. No thanks! My sister recommended Allstate in Richardson and they did fix it correctly the first time! I will also add that the price was less than I had been quoted at the other "Transmission Expert". I wish I had gone there in the first place. Pros: fast service and a good explaination of what was needed. Cons: none I can think of more
