I'm a recent transplant to MD so I needed to find a place to feed my comic book addiction and found this little gem in DTSS. It's amazing and the staff is great! Good: Service is outstanding always and tremendously helpful as well as knowledgeable.. Bad: A little disorganized regarding $1 bins on the lower level but a good selection.. Improvements: A little more organization of the $1 bins.. Other: Alliance is my Comic Book store of choice. Friendly and knowledgeable staff always willing to help or talk. This comic shop, nestled right in the outskirts of all the renovations happening in DTSS, is a little slice of what Fenton Street used to be. It doesn't draw the gentrified crowds that are migrating to Silver Spring these days, but a more devout group of comic-lovers. Any time of day that you come you will find avid comic book junkies in the aisles checking out the wares. The store is somewhat small, but they have a good selection of classics and the serials in the basement. (Just be careful about bringing kids down here; you might have to shield their eyes from graphic drawings every other comic.) Upstairs there are more kid-friendly comics, including Calvin and Hobbs books and various comic-related toys. Also, check local listings because this comic store participates in Free Comic Day every year! more
