GREAT vet, and although assistant was also great with animals, TERRIBLE with people - uncaring and not listening, unecessarily rude.

We love(d) All Pets! 10/3/2011

We recently moved from Astoria out to the 'burbs and were sad to say goodbye to our friends at All Pets after taking our cat there for nearly 7 years. Dr. Hatzi and the staff were always incredibly nice, competent, and absolutely LOVED our cat. Our 9-year-old tabby has some special needs and they were always very understanding of his condition (he has cerebellar hypoplasia, a brain disorder that affects motor skills) and our financial needs when necessary. He has had numerous surgeries at All Pets and everyone was great about walking us through the procedures and ensuring he did okay afterward. Our cat is like our child - the staff here always knew that and treated him (and us) with the best care and advice any family wants for their pet. It's disheartening to see all the reviews about ""rude"" staff members. If you want Susie Sunshine to answer the phone and take your appointment, then go take your pet to the nearest day care center! more

Good vet, terrible staff 7/27/2009

Overall I'm satisfied with the service my pet has received here, but the staff woman is rude and always on edge every time I come in, so much so that I've considered changing vets. Pros: Affordable Cons: Staff is rude every time I come in or call in more

BBuyer beware! Very abusive staff... 6/18/2009

DO NOT go to Dr. Peggy unless you can handle an extremely rude office management staff. The actual vet, Dr. Peggy, is qualified, caring, generous with her time, and thorough in her explanations, but you will ALWAYS have to deal with her often rude, self-righteous, argumentative, and unprofessional staff (e.g., Laura). My husband and I tried to transfer vets from Dr. Glasser to Dr. Peggy, because Dr. Glasser?s pay scale had become unaffordable. We were not willing to bring our older, dying cat in to see Dr. Peggy, because he had just been examined five months earlier by Dr. Glasser. After careful review of Dr. Glasser?s records that we had forwarded to Dr. Peggy, Dr. Peggy agreed that no further testing was needed at this time and she offered additional insight into Dr. Glasser?s examination. She suggested that we try a low-protein moist food for our cat, but after letting us sample a can, she suddenly said the only way she would prescribe the food is if we brought our older cat in for further testing. Talk about bait and switch!!! My husband and I have already spent $1500 this year on vet bills and special food for our ailing cat and as you can imagine, we don?t want our older cat to suffer any more needless testing as he hates visiting the vet. Dr. Peggy?s staff hung up the phone several times on my husband and/or me once we requested our records be returned to us. Ironically, we had already scheduled an annual check up for our younger cat with Dr. Peggy, Dr. Peggy would make money on selling us the prescription cat food, and we had promised to euthanize our older cat at her office at the appropriate time. Our hearts were broken by her rude staff and their uncalled for harsh manner. We are suffering enough knowing that we are about to lose our 17-year-old baby and what we needed most was compassion and respect for our budget, especially in these rough economic times. Please note, after numerous polite and then ultimately forceful requests to get our cats? medical records returned to us, Dr. Peggy FINALLY mailed our records back to us. The postage date on the envelope revealed that the records were never actually mailed out until we had been pushed to raise our voices on the phone. No one should be pushed to such extremes. Moral of story: (1) It is very difficult to transfer vets and one must be wary of financial exploitation via unnecessary tests and office visits and (2) GOOD customer service from veterinary staff is essential. Dr. Peggy?s staff desperately needs etiquette training!!! You CAN do better in Western Queens?please do yourself a favor and don?t waste your time at this vet. Pros: Decent vet, but bad staff Cons: Office staff is downright abusive more

The best vet clinic my cat and I have ever been to 5/12/2009

Pros: great and highly affordable services Cons: non more

This vet is great 1/7/2009

Wow...I have to say basically the same things as everyone else has said. Dr. Hatzi is GREAT. She is a wonderful vet. Its really sad that so many vets out there will actually take advantage of a pet owner who loves her animal...with unnecessary tests and medications. :( This is NOT the case with this clinic. One word of advice, though- the office staff is not the friendliest. Sometimes, they have come very, very close to actually being rude on the phone. However, this is NOT the case when you are actually in the office. Actually, quite the opposite. This has left me scratching my head on more than one occasion. Either way, these guys are well recommended..also pretty reasonably priced as well. Pros: Vet is great. Wonderful and very caring. Called me at home to give me test results on more than one occasion when she knew that I was worried. Also very reasonaly priced. Cons: Office staff that is sometimes not pleasant over the phone. more

Best place for your 4-leggers! 9/13/2008

THIS IS MY KINDA PLACE! Like many animal owners, I take better care of them, than of myself. I moved to Astoria and started searching for a good, caring vet. Turns out, she's 5 blocks from my apt! THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU IF IT'S ALL ABOUT YOU, THE OWNER. Dr. Hatzidimitriou (""Dr Hatzi"") is all about the animals....she's calm, caring, focused, thoughtful and thorough. She'll look for creative solutions if you've got a picky eater, medicine taker, whatever. You get the truth, kindly delivered, and the realistic options (my mom cat had breast cancer - and has recovered fully). The staff is excellent - again, it's all about the animals - some may seem a bit brusque at first, but they are all marshmallows really....just go with the flow...again, your pet comes first here. This is a busy neighborhood practice, and it is a doc's office, so a wait is inevitable -- just remember, when it's your turn, you and your pet won't be rushed through...a very very good thing. Prices are very reasonable, care is excellent...just ask my Senna & Avery. Pros: thorough, caring, no pressure, reasonable prices, convenient Cons: maybe a couple magazines to read while waiting? more

Terrific experience- I feel lucky to have found them! 5/6/2008

I brought my cat in for the first time when she was sick and could not have asked for a better experience. Dr. Hatzi was thorough but gentle- and all around just excellent. I thought the office staff was really great (I don't know why people have negative things to say about Lisa, I thought she was kind to my pet and personable and professional with me.) I just moved to the area and was really worried about getting a new Vet- but I'm completely satisfied and can't imagine anyone better! Pros: WONDERFUL vet, great staff, inexpensive Cons: don't have one... more

Wonderful, caring, friendly staff - behind schedule on Saturdays 2/19/2008

My dog is 3 years old now and I've taken her to Dr. Hatzidimitriou since her first puppy check-up. With only a couple of minor hiccups in all of that time, I would recommend All Pets to anyone in the Astoria area. Pros: Caring staff, Friendly Service, knowledgeable treatment Cons: long waits on Saturdays, limited hours after work more

Fantastic Vet, Great Staff 1/21/2008

Dr. Hatzi and her staff at All Pets saved my dog's life. I brought my dog into Dr. Hatzi's office with an infection that was due to a surgery (performed by another vet) . Dr. Hatzi spent nearly a month treating my Daisy, in an effort to stop the infection. We were going in to the office up to twice a week and we always got expert, loving professional care from everyone in the office. It was obvious that all there were extremely concerned with the health and recovery of my dog. They also knew that my fiance and I were on a budget, and they literally gave us medicine for free, and cut care costs whenever possible. Pros: Caring, Knowledgeable Vet, Helpful, Caring Staff Cons: Street Parking more

Great vet, office staff needs to go 9/9/2007

Dr Hatzi is a great vet I had to put my cat my buddy of 16yrs to sleep she was very good to him and me, Pros: Great Vet Cons: Lisa needs a muzzle more

Great vet! Try to forgive the sometimes rude reception experience... 7/10/2007

I've brought my cat in several times and Dr. Hatzi has always been wonderful. My pet is a ""caution"" cat, meaning she is a complete nightmare when it comes to the vet (they have to wear gloves, etc) but Dr. Hatzi and her staff have always treated her and ME with respect and treated her not as a problematic animal, but a pet who has a difficult time with being examined and requires extra attention. It's true that sometimes her staff is not really great at the front desk or on the phone -- I attribute this to the fact that they are primarily vet assistants and are wonders in the exam room, just maybe not so much in the reception area. If you can get past this, you can expect excellent animal care. And at an affordable price. I would have given 5 stars if not for the sometimes prickly front desk service. Pros: Fantastic vet, wonderful exam room experience, affordable. Cons: Receptionist is rude at times, ambience is mediocre at best. more

One staff member should be taken to anger managment!!!!! 4/24/2007

I have been taking my dog to Dr H for a while now. The reason for that is, she is an amazing vet, very trustworthy. Although like the rest of the reviews --- I can not understand why there is a certain staff member still working there. I would give her name if I knew it !!!! She has been there for as long as I have been taking my dog. I have gotten into multiple arguments over the phone with her. Her attitude is even more disgusting in person. I haven't and will never let her handle my dog. more

My kitty is in good hands w/ Dr. Hatzi 6/7/2006

It seems the common complaint in these reviews is about the office staff- I have found them to be rather brusque over the phone but pretty accomodating and polite at the office. I appreciate the gentle and respectful way they handle my pet in the exam room. They never pick her up by the scruff of the neck- a practice I find totally innapropriate for a full grown animal yet many vets do it anyway. Dr. Hatzi herself seems really on top of her game and is always easy to deal with. She is responsive to questions and very informative. While vet visits are never cheap I find the staff at All Pets to be less concerned about money than an animals well being. The only problem I have is that there is often a long wait- but this is because they are very attentive to emergency walk-ins. Pros: gentle handling, saturday hours Cons: long wait more

Very rude office staff 2/14/2006

Dr. H is great, if you can get by the super-rude office staff! They are totally unreliable and could give a flying you-know-what if your pet is dying. more

Very Kind! 5/14/2005

Dr. Hatzi is a great vet, when my cat was very ill, she showed great compassion even in his dying. She is a very caring women and I highly recommend anyone to take their pets there. more

I love my pets' vet!!! 8/24/2004

Dr. Hatzi is by far the best vet I know. She is equally skilled in assisting both animals and their owners. When one of my cats needed to be put to sleep she offered my cat the best care possible. She was also with my family throughout this decision offering sound advice and emotional support. She made this very difficult choice as comfortable as it could be; for this I am eternally grateful. She has shown the same care, compassion, and ability with my families other pets. My only recommendation is that if you decide to visit Dr. Hatzi request the first appointment in the morning. This reduces how much time you may need to wait. Pros: pet & human friendly, compassionate, sound care and dx more
