If you are considering a move, do yourself a favor and don't consider these guys. I have moved a lot for different jobs. I have used a good number of moving companies in the past. This operation was the worst I ever used. I retained their service for a cross country move and then a resulting subsequent local move in our new area. Here was my experience:
1) Quote was reasonable, but upon arrival, the movers began upping the price and adding on charges. In the end they wanted triple what the quote was and much more than any of their competitors had quoted. When I threatened to walk away, the movers then wanted to strike a ""deal"" and we ended haggling over prices like I was buying a used car. Very shady and unprofessional.
2) Changing the payment method. I put the move on a business credit card as a business expense. I put a deposit on the move before the movers showed up. After the movers got there, all the sudden, credit card purchases were more expensive (although this was never discussed upfront and not in their agreement) and the movers ""preferred"" cash. After much unprofessional haggling with the movers we ended up having to give them a cash deposit and a 3% surcharge for the use of a credit card. Again, very unprofessional.
3) Unprofessional conduct. Three movers showed up for our cross country move. Within 2 hours one of the movers got in a disagreement with another and walked off the job. He was obviously not very vested with the company and was not a professional mover. As a result, a one day job took two days and our entire move was thrown off.
4) Unethical. On the second day of our cross country move, the movers informed us that they had run out of gas money to operate their truck and that it was customary for the customer to front cash for the gas on a cross country move. They wanted $1000.00 in gas money to operate their truck from the east to west coast. Obviously this is not standard. It is the company's job to pay for operating costs of the business...not mine. Scam artists!
5) Unreliable. Unfortunately, after our cross country move we had to also move locally into our new home and had retained All American Movers for this service as well. We were scheduled to move at 12 noon on a Sunday. The movers never showed. After multiple calls to the company, we were told that every one of their trucks in Southern California had broken down that day and that they wouldn't be able to make it. When we tried to reschedule and asked the company to compensate us for the extra day(s) that we were going to have to pay to stay somewhere, their representative hung up on us, and then never picked up our calls again. We were essentially left stranded. We ended up scheduling with another company 2 days later and it was a huge inconvenience and cost for us. I know that things happen when scheduling these moves, but don't lie to me with lame excuses like ""every truck we have in Southern California broke down."" And if you as a company fail to deliver on services that you agreed to, then the least they could do would be to reschedule and try to make it right. We got none of that courtesy from All American Moving.
Hope this helps and hope you have a better experience with another mover than we did with this one.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Inconsitent. Unproffesional. Unethical. Unreliable.
