Warning, do not buy a car here! This place does not take care of their customers or stand behind their cars. They will rip you off and leave you hanging. more

I called and discussed my car's coolant leak. Service lady looked in the book and said there was an expired recall and they would charge me $115 to see if my leak was due to the expired recall and if it was the fix would be about $650. She identified my car by my reading off my VIN number to her. I then called the place I bought the car from in Sacramento (Folsom Chevy) and they told me based on the same "fix" and they got my VIN number and had my records that the same "fix" would be around $210.....Oh---and Folsom Chevy would charge me $68 for the evaluation against Matthews proposed $115. Since Folsom Chevy has done me right several times I am going to drive from Modesto to Sac to see them. That's all I can say. Like I said....I dunno...and my bud the mechanic says it should not cost $650 either! more

Not the greatest service in the body shop! 4/8/2006

I have never purchased a car from Alfred Matthews, but I have used their body shop. I was involved in a rear end accident, and my car was messed up pretty badly. My car ended up being in their shop for over a month. They could not get the alignment of the trunk and the taillights correct. Even the insurance company came out and looked at the car and agreed. Not having the car for over a month, and having to drive a rental was a real pain in the butt. The rental car was costing me more in gas, then the rental. Some of the staff at Alfred Matthews was polite and courteous, but I seemed to get the one that wasn’t. She would call me and tell me that the car was “as good as it’s going to get.” Which was ridiculous! The car was perfect before the accident, and should be after the accident. Finally her manager had to step in, and they did get the job fixed, after one month! more
