Al Primo Canto

We had a 7:00 reservation for last night (Saturday). We were simultaneously sat with the two tables next to us. We were giddy about being out and about like grownups and made friendly chit-chat with the couple sitting next to us. We ordered the all you can eat dinner and a bottle of wine and waited for the goodness to arrive. more

This restaurant is small with a very crowded feeling. Also found it too warm inside. Went for what I thought would be a romantic dinner but it does not have that kind of environment. Better suited for groups or with friends. This is a fun place with great food and music. The band was wonderful and started playing at 7pm. It does get very loud and is hard to hear each other talking. We really liked everything served except for the chicken, found that dry. The tenderloin and lamb were outstanding, best we ever had. The 3 different pastas were made with excellent sauces. Went for the all you can eat and they made sure we had plenty left over to take home. Our server was excellent and explained dishes and why the owner cook prepares them a certain way. We did not need seconds but our server came over twice to ask if we wanted more of anything. I was really surprised to see such unpleasant service as we had at Al Primo Restaurant. Drinks order was taken app 15 min after we got seated. We ordered all you can eat menu which turned out that we tried cold pasta and some meat. Even if we wanted to order more we couldn?t because our server kept avoiding our table. No to mention our water glasses where never refilled. We will never go back to this restaurant again. more

I've lived near Edgebrook all my life and remember when this place was the public library. I came in with my family one night to celebrate my birthday. Now I've been to the Churrascarias in Brazil and even in the Czech Republic of all places. I thought from my previous experience and by the movie on this page the service would be traditional: servers coming around with meat on large skewers, getting a piece of meat here and there. This experience, however, was totally different (hence, I really can't credit them for being a Churrascaria). They have 2 menus, one the a la cart and one ""feast"" menu which is the ""Churrascaria"" style dinner which includes a plate of baba ganush, 3 different pastas, and then the lamb, chicken, and beef tenderloin (only they serve them on a platter cook to order, almost) with salad and their signature polenta sticks and potato side all of which you can take home if you can't finish. No doubt, it was VERY good and the service was well done. The price is well worth the visit too. But for me, skip the sides and get to the meat like I remember them doing at the REAL Churrascarias. Yes the food is great, yes they've been featured on Check Please on PBS, but I have this ""fixed"" image of what a Churrascaria is and that was what I was looking for. I think all the sides like pasta and polenta (although Very Good, I can't stress that enough) substitute the fact that A) no servers coming around with skewers of meats and B) only three meat items on their menu compared to Fugo where they have about 7 or 8 different meats. But hey, I like it; it's a very good place to take a date to or even a large group. On Friday nights, experience the Bosa Nova sounds of the live band and enjoy an authentic caipiriniah (the traditional drink of Brazil). I call this experience a ""Neo-Brazilian"" approach to the traditional Churrascaria experience. I'd definitely come back.
