Al & Eds Autosound

Last August I stopped into Al&Ed's for information on installing an aftermarket in-dash am/fm stereo radio, new dash speaker and two 6x9's in the rear deck of my 69' Mustang fastback. In addition, I was also interested in having an alarm systems installed. Office Manager Tito was extremely helpful in putting together a audio/security package to fit my budget. I dropped the car off on a Friday afternoon to have the equipment installed and picked it up Saturday evening as promised. For the most part, I was impressed by the quality of the installation however after a couple days the two-sided black tape they used to adhere the alarm sensor light to the windshield failed as did the rear trunk lid sensor. No big deal, I reinstalled both with new double sided tape and was good to go. more

I wanted to update the navigation system in my Range Rover and was looking to speak to someone regarding what type of Navigation system would be best for my vehicle. I had stopped at another stereo store and all they were interested in was pushing the brand that they sold and telling me they could have it done in 3 hours if I came down now. I asked if they had any photos of the work they had done on this type of vehicle and they could not provide any. They didn't seem to want to fully understand what my needs were for updating the current navigation system I have in my vehicle. When I called Al and Eds Laurie anwsered the phone and listened to what I wanted and said that she would e-mail a quote with several options that would work for my Range Rover. Laurie sent me an e-mail within the hour that listed my option for my vehicle and the price for labor and the price for the units that would work. I went into the Al & Ed's on Hawthorne Blvd. one Saturday morning looking for new rear speakers for my car. After speaking with Alex & Laurie for a few minutes and listening to a number of different speakers from their display, I settled on a pair of Focal and proceeded to arrange for the installation. While waiting for my vehicle to be finished, I mentioned to Laurie that (a few months earlier) I had been looking to add a Navigation system to my wife's BMW, but had been told by Best Buy and another local shop (can't remember the name) that it wouldn't be possible in her particular vehicle. They said that the radio location wasn't large enough to accommodate the type of (Kenwood) unit that I had wanted. Laurie proceeded to tell me that I had been given incorrect information and that I could, in fact, install the navigation unit in her vehicle. more

My Fiance and I went to the Al & Ed's in Lawndale after having a bad experience at the Al & Ed's in Marina Del Rey. It's hard to imagine how the experience in the Marina could be worse, but it was. We had to take her car back 4 times,due to sloppy installation. Complaints to the manager were met with a response of, "Oh we're sorry about that. Bring it back in and we'll make it right." Yeah, they'll fix it, but only after YOU have wasted A LOT of YOUR time. more

I gave these so called professionals my classic muscle car to do an alarm install. One day while driving my pride and joy, it shut down as if I switched off the key. After hours of tracing back through the electrical system, I discovered that the Al & Ed's installer had jammed a small piece of wire ( i found the wire) into the ignition connector to form a bridge without attaching electrical connectors. After driving and moving around, the wire fell out of the connector and shut down my ride. These guys are rank amatures....... Pros: Talk a good game Cons: The installer did a lousy job more
