Great Sushi 3/30/2010

We have been eating here for years. They have an awesome selection of fish, their Uni is matched by none, We like to sit at the Sushi bar for the extra treats.\r \r Ordering a beer, saki or anything else off the menu can take forever and it seems like that portion of the order is wrong.\r \r If you are looking for great sushi though, it is the place to go. Pros: Freshest fish around Cons: Wait staff are not attentive and plan on staying awhile more

Great Japanese food almost authentic 3/21/2009

I have been going to Akasaka since the early '90s and it is still my Japanese restaurant of choice. I have been to Japan over 3 times and Akasaka has one of the closest to Authentic tastes. The donkatsu (pork cutlet) with sauce is very filling and satisfying to the palate. The sushi of any kinds, especially rolls are not filled with junk, but good quality fish and vegetables. If ordering the Korean food, the free appetizers/side dishes are the best of any Korean restaurant statewide. The Japanese appetizers, on the other hand, are not as authentic as hoped for. They are relatively okay, but very pricey. Overall, I would say stop by about 3 times a month and you'll be happy. Pros: Great Udon and sushi Cons: appetizers are expensive more

Awesome sushi and great Korean BBQ 6/4/2008

The food was really good. I had both the Korean and Japanese. The Korean was a little more expensive that what I'm used to, but nonetheless it was still great. Sushi was decently priced and was very fresh. Definitely recommend you to try it :) more

Very Slow Service 4/28/2008

I went here for the first time on my birthday. Me and some of my friends went there this past Saturday. We waited for about 20 minutes just order some drinks and appetizers. Infact, I had to go out and ask that a waitress be sent to our section. Then we waited about another 15 minutes before the drinks even came out to us. The dinner took about 30 minutes or more to come out after the already long wait on the drinks appetizers. One of my friends only order was California Rolls. Her's was the last thing to come of the kitchen. Everyone elses dinners was coming out here and there. Finally almost an hour later, then her California rolls comes out. Thats just way to long of a wait for California Rolls. The food was alright, it definitely was not good enough to make me forget about the LONG wait. I would not recommend going there unless you have a lot of time and don't mind being forgotten. Pros: Variety of Japanese and Korean foods Cons: Very slow service, and the food was average if that. more

Yuummmm 3/4/2008

I have driven by this place a couple of times and curiosity finally won me over.\r \r The service - we were seated promptly and our waitress was pleasant and helpful. The people are friendly and willing to assist you questions.\r The food - the sushi is fresh and delightful. The food portions for their entrees are big enough to be shared between two people or take home for later. I had the seafood Yaki Soba and I couldn't finish it all. There is even a large fish tank with a variety of shellfishes and eels in the middle of the restaurant.\r The atmosphere - calm and relaxing (since we came before the dinner rush). The tatami rooms are very nice and great for large parties. more

been going here for years 12/6/2007

always good, fresh and a good value... We have been going since it opened years ago across the street (80's!!). We used to live in Tacoma and would make the drive for the sushi. Now we live in Seattle but go whenever the opportunity arises. Lee still remembers us after all these years.... more

One of Puget Sound's best Japanese/Korean Restaurants 11/11/2007

I have to take some exception with one of the earlier reviews - I've been going to Akasaka for years and have had more than my share of sake there - I've never had a watered-down sake nor have I been charged $17 unless it was premium sake (which is special order not the house sake) a large sake here is the same as any place I've been. Chalk it up to confusion I guess.\r \r This is one of the best Sushi restaraunts in Puget Sound and you will have a very tough time finding the quality and variety of fish for the price anywhere. Lee and his wife do a fantastic job and having lived and dined in Puget sound for 20 years (and been to most of the Japanese Restaurants in the region) this is THE best kept secret in the region.\r \r Whether you are there for traditional Japanese or Korean fare; dining at the (typically crowded) sushi bar or in one of the intimate tatami rooms Akasaka will quickly become a favorite - just ask some of the regulars at the sushi bar how far they travelled to get there.\r \r J more

we won't go back 8/27/2007

inconsistancy in prices , watch out for your prices please, you do the math youself , don't order until you know the price. Inconsistancy with servings sizes shushi / sashimi meat slices were so paper thin that we had to stop going there. There are many other Sushi restaurants that give better quanity for your dollar. my famly and friends noticed the difference and we have all stopped going their. Seeing the difference at other Sushi Restaurants ; for the money makes me want to kick myself for going there for years and being too lazy for find other up standing Sushi Restaurants. We have gone to several other restaurants mainly in or near downtown Seattle and haven't had any regrets. Staff usally friendly, expecially if your asian person. Pros: friendly staff Cons: below average size sushi slices more

unique restaurant with Korean and Japanese style~ 9/30/2006

We dined there on Wed. night, it wasn't crowded, but the selelction was interesting. The restuarnt offers japanese sushi sashimi, and Korean style tofu soup. Both sushi, sahimi and korean BBQ and tofu soup was very nice. It wasn't pricy; and you can get so full just by having their varieties of appetizer. Their appetizer was very nice too, and you can refill it for more. more

Watch Out If You Order Sake! 8/7/2006

On a recent visit here, we ordered a large chilled sake. When it came out, it was obviously watered down! The waitress sampled it and agreed and kindly got us the real thing. However, they still got the better of us by not listing the sake prices (our mistake for not asking). We discovered the price when the bill came-a large sake was $17.50. A ""large"" here is about 6 ounces, in other words, not large. Just a warning. more

Super Sushi!! 2/10/2006

This is the best sushi on the planet! Chong is a master and makes you feel like you are a visitor in his wonderful home. The aura of the place is serine and pleasant. The service is impeccable. You MUST try the Shabu Shabu! Great cheap lunch spot! Pros: Great Sushi, Super Service, Wonderful Aura more

Pleasant Experience Time and Time Again 4/1/2005

I've been to Akasaka many times and have never been disappointed with the experience. They are reliable, prompt, and really do have some fantastic quality sushi, surprisingly better than many downtown restaurants. It is a hidden gem in Federal Way. Pros: Great Sushi, Clean Restaurant, Very Reliable Cons: Far South of Seattle more

Surprised 7/21/2004

I was pleasantly surprised by the food at this place. I know the Korean population in the Federal Way area is high, but this place is very good. The quality of the sushi was excellent and the hot pots were very tasty. I will be back for more. more

great sushi 12/31/2002

The sushi was great, best I've had in Seattle. Fantastic prices, very resonable and great atmosphere. more

Quality Sushi 11/23/2002

I have sampled many of the sushi restaurants in the Seattle area. I go out of my way to visit this one again and again. Be prepared for a ""relaxed"" pace and superb quality sushi. The sake, hamachi, and toro are consistently wonderful. The chef makes the best caterpillar roll I have had. more
