Responsive and Caring 7/15/2016

I have been using Air Conditioning specialists for ten years and have always been satisfied with their service. I have never had an emergency as I did yesterday. From the first phone call to Stephanie Smith Service Coordinator I felt that someone cared about my problem. She did everything she could to find a serviceman that could help and by mid day Tim Trickler was at my door. Having to work in 95 degree weather outdoors he quickly found the problem and solved the problem. The best way I felt I could thank them was to write a review and let everyone in Hampton Roads know.. if you need A/C Service go to the Specialists.. WHO CARE ! Thank you. more

Impressive AC maintenance check-up 7/9/2016

My technicians Tim T and Josh C did a super job on my summer maintenance check-up. They thoroughly cleaned the entire unit, even waxing the outside. Very polite and competent - a nice experience! more

New HAVC System 6/2/2016

I would like to let you know that I am very pleased with my purchase from yesterday. Yes a little more than I wanted to spend but a good investment. Chuck was very honest and forthcoming. I did not feel as if I was being pressured into purchasing this unit. I would like to tell you that your installers were the best. They were very professional and knowledgeable. They worked very hard and got the job done. It was a pleasure working with Air Conditioning Specialist. I now have a reliable company I can call and I know the work will be the best. I am also working with a company that is in Portsmouth. I have bragged to my friends so you may be gaining more than one customer. Thank you again for the fast service. more

30 min cost $310.. installed $ 40.00 part 1/1/2016

On sat Dec 19 2015 called ACS Inc, my Trane Hp package had quit blowing heat but unit was running, Tech Chuck answered & said he would be at the house in 20 min, he was less than 5 miles away.. He told me service call would $100.00, I asked, does that include installing the part, his answer, Yes. Showed up in 15min, I explained what unit was doing, he went out to the unit and was back in the house in 10 min, raised the thermostat, went back out and was back in the house in 10 min with a bill for $ 341..00.. He NEVER told me at anytime what it was going to cost until he brought the bill into the house. I checked with some sources I had and the part he used was a $ 40.00 part, on survey they supplied I gave a very unfavorable report. The business owner called me and gave me a 10 min sermon on how they arrive at their prices and price on part indicated it was Chinese made, they only use American made with 5 year warranty, this is not noted on bill, if it goes bad in 2 yr do you think they will warranty it ? I also ask about not being told price on repair until bill was presented, he told me tech had advised me, I told him that if tech said that, that the tech was a LIAR ,he told me he was not going to sit there and listen to me call his employee a liar. I told him I was filing a complaint with the BBB. he said go ahead, you are wasting your time, after talking to BBB he was correct. for some reason I don't believe this would hardly be the first he had to listen to an irate customer like me. more

Late service tech and no answer to "emergency" phone number 5/6/2015

We had an appointment for between 6-8pm. I knew my husband wasn't going to be able to be home or answer his phone so I gave them my number and said to call me, not him. The tech arrived at 8:30, did not say sorry for being late. When I spoke with my husband, it was 7:45 and he said the tech had called him to say he was going to be late! Horrible communication! Also, when 8:00 came and no one was here, I called this number, which the website says is a 24 hour emergency number, no one answered and I called 4 times and let it ring 20-30 times each. When your home is HOT and this happens, it is unacceptable. I would not recommend them. more

I had a flooding problem under my house, and they got all my new ductwork up to the joists where it will never get wet again. The young men were very professional and knowlegable, and paid attention to every detail of my problems both quickly and competently. I am elated that it was so well done and it was well worth the cost. Totally totally recommend them!!! Misdiagnostic 7/25/2013

Company charged me $69 to come out and do a diagnostic on my HVAC unit. What they told me was wrong was not the issue. I was told by the repair technician that my compressor was stuck and needed to be replaced. I was quoted $1288 in labor to repair this and that my parts on the unit was still under warranty until November so they would be covered. The following day I had another HVAC company come out to give me a second opinion. I'm a single mother of two so I always shop around to try and get the best rate I can. This HVAC company was able to fix the unit within an hour and charged me $150 for parts and labor. I was told the issue was that the capacitor just needed to be replaced. When I called to discuss this issue with the President of this company he went on to tell me that his technician did nothing wrong. In fact he stated while his technician was there, he did me a favor by not charging me an additional fee to do a hard reset to my unit while he was doing the diagnostic. I'm sorry, I thought favors were free and how are you going to charge me for something that didn't resolve the issue? He than continued to tell me that replacing the capacitor is only a temporary fix and that I need to continue to save my money because the compressor will eventually go out. He stated it could be a day, a couple of weeks or a month, but it will go out. I am confident that what this company quoted me would have fixed my issue but there was no other options given to me. My issue is that he knew by fixing the capacitor that it would resolve the issue, even if it would have been a temporary fix, he knew it would have resolved it. But in this case, they choose not to give me that option. They made it seem that the only option that I had was to replace the compressor and pay the $1288. It would have been nice to have the option to replace the capacitor for a limited amount of money; even if it was a temporary fix, to give me time to save up to replace the actual compressor. I feel like this company is very dishonest and goes immediatly for the highest dollar fix they can instead of giving options to the consumer and let them decide what's best for them. more

I cannot say enough about this company. They were absolutely fantastic. They were on time, they worked hard, they were very nice and professional. Both young men were an asset to this company. If you have to have your unit fixed or replaced, this is the company you should have do the job. I highly recommend them. Although not in stock, AC Specialists management made the necessary arrangements with the manufacturer (TRANE) and insured that its qualified technicians would be available for installation the next day. more

They are very professional and clean at Air Conditioning Specialists. The installation guys are great, and everybody is really friendly. They have never had an attitude about working all day. They have probably installed 8 units between the 4 houses in the last 4 or 5 years. I have had no problems with them, everything has been good. They have not had to come back to fix anything. They do come back every year for service and cleaning, but there hasn't been a problem. Air Conditioning Specialists has great people, great service, and great quality. Their main goal is customer satisfaction, and they make it happen. They are a good bunch of guys. more
