On sat Dec 19 2015 called ACS Inc, my Trane Hp package had quit blowing heat but unit was running, Tech Chuck answered & said he would be at the house in 20 min, he was less than 5 miles away.. He told me service call would $100.00, I asked, does that include installing the part, his answer, Yes. Showed up in 15min, I explained what unit was doing, he went out to the unit and was back in the house in 10 min, raised the thermostat, went back out and was back in the house in 10 min with a bill for $ 341..00.. He NEVER told me at anytime what it was going to cost until he brought the bill into the house. I checked with some sources I had and the part he used was a $ 40.00 part, on survey they supplied I gave a very unfavorable report. The business owner called me and gave me a 10 min sermon on how they arrive at their prices and price on part indicated it was Chinese made, they only use American made with 5 year warranty, this is not noted on bill, if it goes bad in 2 yr do you think they will warranty it ? I also ask about not being told price on repair until bill was presented, he told me tech had advised me, I told him that if tech said that, that the tech was a LIAR ,he told me he was not going to sit there and listen to me call his employee a liar. I told him I was filing a complaint with the BBB. he said go ahead, you are wasting your time, after talking to BBB he was correct. for some reason I don't believe this would hardly be the first he had to listen to an irate customer like me.
