This place is a well kept secret, it would seem, from a lot of Dallas natives. I am from Dallas and I had no clue it was there (been to the fairgrounds almost every year I’ve been living).
The man that ran the desk when I went there, George (or “G for Good” as he said) was a very warm gentlemen. Somewhat older himself, you will be alright with standing there and talking to him for a second as he greets you when you walk through the doors.
The museum is free admission, but after seeing the great mix of history and art, I feel compelled to support it with donation. I truly believe that it is packed full of treasures and valuable information. Now I will admit that I see relevance in things easier than some people, it will at least make for a pleasant and cheap few hours.
